great for price
This is a great product for the price. The 'blue light' is NOT a backlight but a light to the side that is a blue tint. It does work pretty well but pic/info a little misleading. The cord is long but as I struggled to find a place to put it I ended up putting it above my mirror on the windshield. The cord was not quite long enough to reach behind the bumper from there. I believe it would reach if placed near the steering wheel or to the left of the steering wheel. Seems accurate and works well with indoor, outdoor, and clock for the price compared to others that were more the 2x's as much.

Fahrenheit to Celsius switch won't stay on Fahrenheit.
I have one of these on my motorcycle so why wouldn't it work in my pickup truck? Well, the answer is because the unit doesn't work. When unit is switched to Fahrenheit it jumps between Fahrenheit to Celsius as it damn well pleases. Don't buy!

Works well even when abused
I've bought 3 of these now to use on my motorcycles. They aren't really made to be used outdoors on a bike, but have held up remarkably well. The first one made it through 5 or 6 seasons mounted on top of the instrument cluster on a KLR 650. It finally died last year after suffering through about 16,000 miles of roads, trails, dust, vibration, and rain. I think it was one too many rain storms that finally did it in. They aren't waterproof, but I put electrical tape over the buttons and sensor hole and that was good enough to survive many rains with only the partial protection of the small fairing in the KLR.I also mounted one on my Seca 750 using the same trick. It gets a little more protection from the larger fairing on that bike, so I expect several more seasons out of it.For both bikes, I mounted the remote temp sensor on the bottom triple clamp for the forks, and from the it gives a reasonably accurate reading as long as you are moving. When stopped, the heat from the engine skews it a bit. There is some inconsistency between the "inside" and "outside" sensors though. Even when sitting in the garage overnight where both are exposed to the same atmosphere and have plenty of time to equalize, they remain 2-3 degrees off from each other. No big deal in my case. Most of the time they are way off from each other anyway because the inside sits in the sun and the remote is in the shade.Considering I am abusing these beyond their indented use, I think they are holding up pretty well. They look nice, and the batteries last a reasonable length of time. If another one gives up, I'll probably replace it with yet another. They are cheap enough that I still feel like I am getting my money's worth even with only 5-6 seasons. There are a few things that would make it perfect though: at least some degree of water resistance, and perhaps the ability to be hard wires to a 12v source, along with a better light so you could actually read it at night. If you were using it in a car as it was designed for, I imagine it would last just about forever. All in all a neat little clock/thermometer.

Inaccurate at times.
This thermometer has a weird issue. It reads about 15-20 degrees low while my vehicle is parked. Once I start moving it reads pretty accurately. I am going to replace it with a small unit that is normally used for a house.

Reads correct temperature!
This is easy to install and is really easy to read when you need it. Good purchase for me! Thanks

Not Very Accurate !!
I ordered 2 of these after owning a different model made by Bell for about 12 years. The older unit was within a couple degrees when sitting indoors with the outside sensor laying next to the unit. Unit "1" failed immediately on inserting the included battery. The light would not go out. Amazon sent a replacement. Replacement Unit "1R" reads 4 - 6 degrees different in the same test with the sensor next to the main unit. Unit "2" is more accurate reading 1 -3 degrees difference when tested the same way indoors and again in the shade outdoors. Not enough difference to be a problem in my usage. Inexpensive but not much quality control.

Just what I ordered, only have had it for 3 weeks.
Installed in my older Ford truck.

Died!
This worked fine for 6 months. Then it just died. No fiddling of any kind makes it work. Additionally, when it did work, the screen was difficult to read, as it's rather small. We ordered it as it had 4 1/2 stars; it no longer does so others must have the same problem!! Don't buy.

Works great
Bought it for my husbands truck, which is older and didn't have a thermometer. He loves it and says it works great.

The sensor end didn't last long
I did everything right on the installation and even used the alcohol wipe to clean the surface where the sensor went on my vehicle but once the truck was going down the road the wire came off of the sensor, before I could get the truck stopped, the sensor and that was left on the wire ripped off in the wind and an L showed up on the screen, I think if I was to buy another one I would glue everything together with Crazy Glue where the sensor is and then see if that works

Unsure if it shows correct temperature
I bought his because my older mustang does not show the temperature and I find that a little annoying. The probe lead was long enough to put where it was recommended by a professional mustang facebook grouper, in the front grill. So, thats where it went, but I'm pretty sure it exaggerates the heat a little. I left it, its kind of a good 'guide' I suppose.
