SainSmart 5-DOF Humanoid Robotic Arm & Hand

Dissapointed that this came with no instructions. After finding a manual on the sainsmart site you can get a general idea of how its meant to be assembled however the parts in their manual dont match the parts given in the kit. It can be figured out after some trial and error. Not sure this was worth the money I spent.

I have yet to assemble the hands. The assembly manual is available online and seems complete. Their description of the assembly process minimizes the complexity of the assembly process. For each of the hands, there seems to be hundreds of very tiny screws in one bag and another with the tiny brass separators. I'm pretty handy with mechanical things and this assembly of both hands will take a day, at best. However, I think it will be fun to bring these to life. Have small needle-nose pliers, a small hobby vise and jewelers screwdriver set handy. It is now months later and I have now assembled them. The actual bent aluminum 'frames' for the hands do not match the 'frames' seen on the assembly video as it appears that they downsized the servos. And to my disappointment, the newer and smaller servos do not have the torque to move the fingers throughout the complete motion required as the tie-wraps used are not flexible. I have spent many days trying to bend and reposition the black plastic tie-wraps to no avail. They are essentially useless. These child-sized hands should be enlarged to adult-sizes as larger servos would have much more torque to move the black plastic 'tendons'. Wasted money. Tom Carroll
