Works.
Used fondant in this to make buttons, then poked holes through them with toothpicks, going to give (in little bags with thin elastic string) to my nieces and nephews for candy for our Little House on the Prairie themed Christmas this year. There are a few slight imperfections in the mold, but for me it's not professional use so I don't mind. For example the little nubs that imprint the buttonholes are slightly misshapen and not quite lined up. The silicone is very, very flexible and soft, not like the typical silicone kitchen products I use. It seems unfinished, it's glossy and raw looking. If that makes sense. But like I said, it's functional enough and I'm happy with the results, so for me it's fine.

I bought this mould for use with Sculpey Premo! polymer clay.I was a little concerned by the flexibility of the posts that form the holes in the buttons. I could see that with a liquid like wax, chocolate or resin there would be no issue, but polymer clay needs to be pushed firmly in to the moulds. To prevent the posts being pushed out of position, I began filling the moulds by putting small snakes of clay between and around the posts first before moving on to filling the main button shape. This helps to keep them upright. Build up the clay in small pieces, smoothing them firmly into the detail and making sure there are no air bubbles. Fill as many or few of the button shapes as you like. Put the mould onto a flat baking sheet, and bake as per the clay manufacturers instructions. I let the whole thing cool down completely before trying to unmould the buttons so I didn't distort them. They came out perfectly and cleanly from the mould. I'm delighted.
