Well worth the effort - excellent replacement
We have had our SD251 for a considerable time. Used 2 to3 times a week it has been perfect. However the shaft at the bottom of the bread pan was getting stiffer and stiffer to turn. (it was not leaking) I thought about stripping the unit down to see if I could free up and lubricate the bearing; but when I saw that the mounting shaft assembly was available for just £20ish and as the pan is still in reasonable order that I would go for it. I am glad I did. This replacement came in a plain box with a new seal, three replacement screws and appears absolutely identical to the original. To fit is relatively easy starting with the pan upside down:-1. Strip by original off the pan by undoing the three PHILLIPS retaining screws. ( make sure you have exactly the correct screwdriver bit to fit the screws.) ours came out with remarkably little effort but make sure you have the pan firmly held and use downward force to keep the screwdriver well engaged as you turn anticlockwise.2. You may need to give the old shaft a tap to free it off but the old unit should now come away.3. Inspect the exposed base of the pan and clear away any debris, clean up the recess for the seal.4. Place the new seal in the recess, it does not seem to have a specific way up.5. Carefully position the new shaft unit into place making sure the screw holes are lining up.6. Now LOOSELY put all three new screws in. Do not tighten but just gently nip them up. Turn the unit over and check on the inside of the pan that the seal is in place. You can just see the edge of it in the well. If any of the seal is protruding into the pan then it is not properly seated and you must start again.7. Turn the pan back upside down, to make sure the assembly seats correctly go round the screws tightening up each a little at a time until all three are tight. Taking care not to overtighten.8. The job is now complete, to be sure I had a good seal I filled the pan with water and let it stand for a while. I had no leaks. The pan has now been used a few times and is working perfectly. In my case I notice that the kneading arm is a bit loose on the shaft, this I think is due to wear on the arm, however it seems alright at the moment, I will replace it if it gets any worse.I hope this review is helpful, I am well pleased with the result of fitting this new shaft assembly to our breadmaker. When the bread machine started to squeak …
after 13 years.Fitted perfectly. New seal and screws provided.Easy to install. Just give the bread container a good clean. If the container’s non-stick has worn you can get the whole thing replaced. At the time I bought:£23 for mount or £55 for whole container (which includes a mount).

Fits SD206 perfectly
We’ve had our Panasonic SD206 bread maker for over 20 years. A few months ago, the paddle needed replacing. Then a couple of weeks ago I noticed some black residue in the bottom of a freshly baked loaf. The seal in the coupling had started to degenerate. As the the rest of the bread pan was in good condition and cost £50 to replace (including the coupling but not the paddle) I decided to try this replacement coupling for £20. It was so easy to replace and came with new screws too. The bread machine now performs as good as new. Top tip: never submerge the bottom of the bread pan (and hence the coupling) in water. It must be kept dry.
