Great guitar, too big for me
This is a beautiful instrument for the price. It seems well made and sounds great. One thing I had not considered though was that it is very large. It's a dreadnought size, which is standard, but I was upgrading from an old nylon-string which I discovered was quite a bit smaller than the Seagull. I just could not find a way to hold the Seagull comfortably and maintain good posture. (I'm 5' 10", average body shape for a guy in his 40s.) Maybe you don't care about posture, but I do, since I have learned through hard experience that ergonomics matter. The seller (Austin Bazaar) delivered promptly and accepted my request for an exchange for a smaller guitar. They were pleasant to deal with. I learned in the process, though, that UPS charges an arm and a leg to ship guitars because of the aspect ratio of the box. If I were going to start over again, I'd go to a guitar shop and try the models out in person. The extra you pay for the brick and mortar storefront is probably worth it.

A High Quality Guitar that Won't String You Along.
All I can say is WOW. This mid-range priced acoustic is a joy to play and the tone is rich and beautiful. Easily sounds and looks like a guitar of much higher price. I like that it is made in Canada with regional hardwoods. The defined grain especially on the sides and back is beautiful. The action was great out of the box and once I made some minor tuning adjustments the S6 has pretty much stayed locked in. I showed my new S6 to a friend that is a serious collector and he immediately ordered his own S6. He loved everything about it. He has a number of Martins and commented that this Seagull was as good as those when it came to ease of play and rich tonal quality. Among other guitars I have had is a Gibson that I bought in 1967. The S6 has better tone, is easier to play and looks better than my cherished old Gibson acoustic. I especially like that the S6 neck is wider, 1.8" at the nut, than most other steel strings. 6/100" wider may not seem like a lot but if you have bigger fingers you will feel a world of difference. This is a great guitar in the price range and I highly recommend it if you are looking for either a wired or non-wired quality instrument. I would also like to mention that the hard case in the package is a great bonus. Fully lined including the small storage bin inside it also is lockable and includes a key. The guitar stand that was included is ok but it probably won't last long if you are lugging it around to gigs on a regular basis. I also want to make a comment on the seller, GEARTREE, they promptly shipped my guitar/case/stand combo and it was well packaged and protected from damage. They included a $20 reward card that I used on the S6 that my friend bought after he played mine. As my friend was ordering his online I called GEARTREE and inquired how long it would take to get from Michigan to Wisconsin. The rep told me he could get it here in two days if we ordered within the next hour. Should arrive for my friend to take it on his cross country trip next week.

A wonderful guitar, after a bit of tweaking...
Well, I've been waiting for this request. I have a Seagull 12 string that I love so decided to buy the 6 string. Taylors and Martins aren't that great IMO til the 3K mark and that's out of the question. My first surprise is how fast this got here. I ordered it on a Thursday morning and it arrived Saturday morning via USPS! I knew it would be a great guitar, no doubt. The case w/ the California cancer sticker [contains lead] a bit disheartening. I also knew it was probably going to need some tweaking, so I wasn't surprised the guitar was shipped with the bridge saddle uncut. At all. So the action was awful past the 3rd fret. Luckily, I know a luthier who I could stand and watch do it. He didn't charge me much, but if I'd had to take this to one, it would have taken a few weeks and perhaps as little as a hundred dollars. Takes special tools and a workshop, ideally. He cut about 1/8th inch off the bottom off the saddle, I put on better untreated strings, the strings they use tend to "roll" under my fingers, which is peciliar. This guiytar records great, plays as nice as a guitar costing five times as much. But for me, if you want a consistent nice action from the nut to the 10th fret, you'll probably have to spend money on the saddle. Here's a couple of pictures I hope will illustrate what we did w/ the saddle. Some folks get lucky and get a perfect guitar out of the box. I've been doing this a long time. Not so lucky. A wonderful guitar, now.

in perfect shape. I'm a first time guitar player and ...
Guitar arrived quickly, in perfect shape. I'm a first time guitar player and I went to the local guitar center to listen to different guitars, they had no Seagulls for comparison. I took a leap of faith based on research on line and bought the S6. Upon arrival I had two friends who have played for years check it over for any defect/s (warped neck, etc.) that would necessitate it's return. All was good and their comments were very favorable. One owns a Martin, the other a Martin and Taylor. They both felt that although the sound was not quite up to a Martin or Taylor it was very close especially when the price is considered. The one felt the action was easier than his Taylor. Both agreed it was a beautiful and well constructed guitar. The local guitar shop did not carry it but could order it, but I was able to by this online WITH a case for $75 cheaper than they would have sold me for one WITHOUT a case. So far I am very pleased, the only negative was that the online deal was to include a stand, it never arrived. But that does not change my opinion of the Seagull, in fact the Taylor owner is looking to purchase one himself so that alone should be an indication of its quality and value.
