Ivation 3,000 Sq Ft Energy Star Dehumidifier - Large-Capacity - Includes Programmable Humidistat, Hose Connector, Auto Shutoff/Restart, Casters & Washable Air Filter, White

I selected this unit for its defrost cycle. It looks good in the basement but not as contemporary as some of the other brands. Instruction are tricky, which required me to contact the manufacturer. FYI - there are several modes for usage: 1) Comfort - when selected, the unit dehumidifies the surrounding area to a factory preset RH level; somewhere between 35 and 55%. The unit cycles off and on depending on the surrounding RH. 2) Continuous - unit runs at the user set RH level. It does not cycle off. The fan remains constant and the compressor is cycled to achieve the RH level. 3) No Comfort or Continuous Mode selected (as signaled by the lights). The user sets the RH level with the up/down arrows and the unit runs until the RH level is achieved, within some level of hysteresis (usually +/- 5-10%).The Turbo button provides high speed fan. I added the optional hose drain, included with the purchase so that the condensate can drain into the floor. This is a great feature and not always included with "some" other brands.PACKAGING: The Ivation package is standard Dehumidifier product package and is very robust. Amazon shipped it in a large box and was poorly packed and marked. Most all dehumidifiers have a compressor with Refrigerant and Oil and is sealed. Because of this, the unit should be stored upright for 24 hrs to insure the media settles properly. This is the same for any refrigerating product; AC, Refrigerators and Dehumidifiers. The Amazon box was redundant and due to the packaging, may have damaged the unit in shipping. Fortunate, it did not appear to be damaged.ON A PERSONAL NOTE: I set out a large barrel container for packages, which is clearly marked. In this case, because of inclement weather, I added a note with a large plastic bag and wrote, "if too large for barrel, place on crate and cover with bag". I am very detailed and thought this would insure no vandalism and/or damage. I got home and the box was on the porch in the pouring rain - go figure!FINAL NOTES: The unit has a 1 yr factory warranty. I purchased the additional warranty because these usually go out in the second or third season. This is just a recommendation. This Ivation replaced a Frigidaire, which died in Yr 5. Good Luck!

I had to call and ask why it wouldn’t turn off when it reached humidity level.You can’t have on the continuous button and turbo for this to work in that mode. After I shut off continuous it worked fine!It takes care my 2400 ft house, keeps my central air from running… now to wait for the electric bill!🫤

3rd EDIT: Received replacement for defective unit. This one is quiet, even sounds good. There is no rattle at all. Just a pleasant whooshing sound. Company is reliable and came through and that's the most important thing when you buy anything online.2nd EDIT: Company did contact me today (5/29/18) and offered to replace the defective unit. I appreciate this very much and am raising my appraisal to 3 stars because of that.EDIT: Demoted to one star. I have tried several ways to fix the very loud rattle with no luck. Reached out to the company (via Amazon) with no response. No consumer should be left with a bad product like this. Do not buy.I can only give this 2 stars because it makes too much noise! Have tried to correct rattling sound with no luck. If someone can tell me how to stop the rattle, I will give it more stars.

This arrived within the time parameters and functions as depicted. I had an infestation of book lice AND ants due to moisture this summer and this basically saved my sanity when spraying for bugs alone didn't fix the problem (it turns out the root cause was actually a super slow leaking pipe). Due to having several doors open, this was actually clearing a larger space than is advertised - basically the entire first floor of my house. I don't have a drain to use the hose function with so I was manually emptying the bucket several times a day. It did automatically stop when the bucket is full. I don't know how intuitive using the settings are because I just ran it full blast constantly. Was easy to set up.

I like the fact the the humidifier does works better than any other de-humidifier we have ever had. I can tell the difference in the humidity level just by how the room feels. I never noticed it like this with other ones. We do have it hooked up with a hose to drain and needed. We have it in the basement laundry room that in the past has always felt a bit humid even when other have run. This one is also quieter. It does put out a fair amount of warm are but I am fine with that. The basement is always cool so this actually feels good. I recommend this unit to everyone.

I have this dehumidifier in my basement, where it replaced a GE that died within two years. DO NOT BUY GE dehumidifiers. The GE was quieter when it was working, but when the compressor dies in less than two year, I'd rather have a little noise. This Ivation is a bit smaller than the GE, and quickly pulled the humidity down in my basement to 41%. I took off one star on the overall rating, because as other reviewers have stated, the two screws to secure the hose connector are not provided. This would cost less than one cent! Come on, you can do better.

Great product for crawl space or basement at a fraction of the cost of a commercial unit. It dried a 2000 square foot damp crawl. Didn’t buy it for warmth. It is easy to use and I like the hose connection height and that it connects on the outside of the unit making it easy to drain with a 30 foot hose. This is my second purchase, the first for my house 2 years ago and this one for my son.

at 3 years it started pulling 1000 watts a hour

I've had this unit about two weeks and so far works great. I have it in my basement using the floor drain and humidity level has come down considerable since I've started using this unit. Fairly quiet and no complaints so far.

I use it in a heated garage, seems to be doing a good job, will know soon how fast, just drove in with 3 inches of snow on my pickup.

great for indoor hydroponics or soil grows. very efficient quiet.does a great job

Really liked this product for the first 6 months.... within the year the compresser went and now longer sucks moister from the air. It is on the noisy side but was bearable when it was working properly. Would not recommend.
