If you're running a bunch of PEX, just buy this thing!
I agree with Builder of Things - this is a must-have PEX tool. It's well-made, works great, and is vastly easier to use than the less expensive long-handled version. I'm 68 years old, and on 1" PEX that long-handled tool is darned near impossible for me to squeeze - I have to resort to tricks using my body weight to accomplish it. This tool, on the other hand, was an easy single-handed squeeze. It's now my best squeeze (that's a joke, if you're not old enough to understand it)! As an extra added bonus, it's much easier to fit into tight spaces, which for some reason I always seem to have...

Broke after 2 uses
I think these do work and are easy to use. The release is the problem. I did one practice and then the real one down in the waterline trench. Of course it would’ve release once closed 30” down in a 12 inch trench. I had to use a pair of pliers to turn the release knob. I guess the screw couldn’t take the pressure and snapped. I tried a lot of finessing before resorting to pliers. I am now using a pair of vice grips holding a thin piece of metal to push down the pawl that allows the ratchet to release. If the screw was of better steel I would give this 5 stars.Update: I bought a new pair and I rebuilt the old pair. Both are working great. I used mine for water mainlines coming into my shop, house, and radiant floor heating system.

Good tool
I have never used PEX before. A plumber told me to buy these and I am glad he did. They work great. Squeezed until it won't squeeze any farther and you are done.

Simple and Compact
I had purchased the long handled version thinking that it would be easier to crimp. Boy was I wrong. These ratcheting crimpers work so much easier. As a big bonus they fit into spots long handles do not, plus easier to hold crimp ring in the right spot as it is compressed.

Works well
This is my first pex tool and it worked well for a new bathroom installation. I wanted the tool to be compact for getting into tight spaces and this tool was perfect for the job. I did about 20 joints and not 1 leak. I would recommend this tool.

Great addition to my tools
I've been using pex for years. I've always used the copper crmp rings, but those crimpers need a wide open space to clamp. For smaller areas this is definitely the way to go.
