I was dreading having to get a new fan and then have to set up an install as not to mess with electrical wiring. The fan had been working on only one slow speed (one single direction) then finally not even that. Through an online search felt like my issue may be the capacitor and for the price, why not try?! Disassembly was easy and the wiring had a connector that unplugged from the unit - so was able to remove wiring with capacitor and metal cover from assembly altogether. Found the same capacitor available for prime and ordered it. I was so eager to install the day it arrived that I forgot to take a picture of the new capacitor until after fan was put together (wasn’t going to take apart unless it was needed). Fan works like new new/possibly better because I genuinely don’t remember it having the 3 speeds and off per direction when new. The fast speed makes it chilly for sure. Hope this works long term but if not I feel confident to do this again and we’ll worth the $16 spent.

Different ceiling fans have different capacitors in them. Whenever your ceiling fan won't run full speed, chances are this capacitor is the culprit, be sure to get the correct one. I am glad that Amazon had just the right one.

We purchased this and a replacement switch for a newer fan that just wasn’t spinning fast enough to produce any airflow. Not sure which the problem was after researching, just bought both. The switch was easier to replace but didn’t fix the speed. A few cuts in wires, wire nuts, and screws back in the fan and the speed did improve. Maybe not as much as I’d like but probably just the fan itself. I would buy it again if another fan slowed.
