Taking a page from the influences of their youth like Nirvana, The Jesus Lizard, Bad Brains, and Dinosaur Jr., MANNEQUIN combines buzzsaw guitars, thumping bass lines, the occasional acoustic guitar, and pummeling drumming to remind everyone that, while 1989 is long gone, the spirit lives on. The brothers Taylor alternate vocal duties, ranging from sardonic whines to yowls approached only by the likes of David Yow and Steve Albini. The result is six songs of tuneful yet blasting, dirty punk rock that’ll make your ears bleed, your pants swell, and is about as subtle as a punch in the neck. This is not a grunge comeback. This is not artsy kids copying their SST catalog. MANNEQUIN is trashy, garage-raised, drunk as hell and coming for your daughters and sons.
