Very happy with 2- and 7-channel sound quality
As other reviewers, I received AV7705Very happy with sound quality for both 2-channel music and 7-channel theater => 5 * ratingI found HEOS unable to access .WAV served by a Plex server on a Synology NAS so plan to use a Raspberry Pi 4 with Kodi using NFS to play music from a central server.7-channel theater performance excellent with Sony UBP X800M2 as source, new Emotiva Gen3 XPA-7 for amplification and ~20-year-old Thiel CS .5 main/Wharfedale Diamond 8 Center/Rear/Surround speakers.2-channel music performance is excellent with Parasound zCD and very good (bass a tad lacking) with Project Debut Carbon DC Esprit SB/Carbon /Ortofon 2M Red via Musical FIdelity V90 LPS preamp.No compatibility issues with any HDMI source component to date

Worth Every Penny...
This machine (AV7705) is simply an amazing addition to my movie, music, network, entertainment system. It truly is the hub of my system. When I purchased it, I thought I bought the AV7704. Imagine my surprise upon opening the box to find the AV7705 inside!.Years ago, I purchased an Integra 9.8 Processor. In its day, it was the most feature-packed, affordable processor on the market. Well, my curiosity got the best of me. I wanted to try Dolby Atmos Surround and Aurel 3-D Surround. The upgrade bug bit. Enter this Marantz processor. I am so glad I upgraded! Movies in Dolby Atmos are, indeed, more involving. I can't honestly say it sounds better than the Integra did per se, but the added ability to decode more formats is welcomed. I also am enjoying 4 additional channels above and an extra subwoofer pre-out.Watching films and listening to music is extremely important to my mental and physical well-being. Having the ability to watch and listen to both using the latest machine processing them is awesome! Was it expensive? It wasn't cheap! Still, to me, it was worth every penny I paid!
