My friend used to build crystal radios as a kid, so I bought him this for fun. He really enjoyed putting it together, but it gets no signal at all as is. He is going to buy an external antennae for it, which is fine, but the kit is advertised as being a complete radio kit, so a bit misleading.

Variable capacitor provided was less than stellar quality. Germanium crystal provided was a tiny triangle and not easy to tune given the provided holder and shape of the crystal. Tiny audio barely perceivable using 100ft wire provided diode. Even less volume using the cats whisker. Certainly not like they used to make them.

1) can I order 1 extra cat whisker, and 1 extra galenium crystal in the cup? Because your items are beautifully crafted, and future replacements would not match.2) can I order this with the coil already wound? Because again, your coil in the photo looks far, far better than I can make. Also a coil, properly formed and wound with the proper length of wire, would be tuned much, much better than I could myself.
