Precious Metal: Decibel Presents the Stories Behind 25 Extreme Metal Masterpieces

Wrong Title
The author is obviously a Death Metal fan and therefore he equates Death Metal with Extreme Metal since about 80% of the "Extreme Metal Masterpieces" are of that sub-genre.Very little to enjoy for the Black and Doom fans! The title is therefore deceiving. The real title should have been "Stories Behind 25 Masterpieces of Death Metal (and other Extreme metal subgenres)".

This is a great and hilarious book about metal, well written
The book covers a wide range of albums and genres. The author is very thorough - he only covers albums where all the original members are still alive and willing to be interviewed. Some of them are hilarious... and others are very interesting. I found a few new cool bands I hadn’t listened to after reading this book. I’ve bought a few copies for friends and they think it is a great book, too.

Very Enjoyable
Great read. I'm not a fan of all the albums here, but there are quite a few I really dig and this was most certainly worth the money.

A must-own for any fan of extreme music!
I found this book fascinating cover to cover. Being able to kind of see behind-the-scenes of the making of many classic metal albums has really made me enjoy them even more. There's not much technical audio engineering/production info, but more of the vibe of the recording sessions and how the songs were written and pieced together. Also, reading about bands and albums I had never heard before definitely made me go check them out and add them to my collection. Overall, an excellent reference book for any metal fan's library! Would love to see a Vol. 2 someday!

Awesome insight to some extreme music classics
Awesome interviews, very insightful look at death metal and grind core classics from bands such as Cannibal Corpse, Morbid Angel, Obituary, Napalm Death, and Repulsion. Lots of great content.

Interesting Insight
It is cool to find out what the musician think about their music and what they remember. Some of the sections get a bit too long and after 10 pages or so I usually have my fill of a particular band. It would be nice if there were more pictures of the band and their albums so I don't have to go to google to find them.

It is not half bad at all
Bought this for my other half for Christmas this year and it is so comprehensive and covers most of the bands he likes. Such a great compendium of how albums are put together, the process that goes into it etc. No colour pics and just one of the band at each chapter but it's the content not pictures really. Just fantastic.
