The grips have adhesive on one side of the silicone dots, so if you are looking for something to keep the end of the extension cord from sliding around so much, yes they will work. If you actually want to stick the end of the extension cord to something, no won't work.

Q: Would this product work to hold my placemats in place and prevent them from slipping on my wood table?

Yes they would, but I would not suggest washing or drying them, they might turn into a Gooey mess.

They have a very mild scent when first opened, but it fades quickly.

Q: Where are these made?

I would be guessing, but even though the package says distributed by BBTO US, I am sure they are made in China. They do work very well.
