The strap is a god-send for the elderly or unsteady to pull themselves into the car.
Got this for when my 93-year-old aunt travels with me. The hanging strap is truly excellent and allows her to pull herself up safely into the front seat. I don't recommend attaching it to the built-in overhead handle in most cars, as the strain and weight could easily pull the handle free from the roof. I rolled down the window and attached the strap to the top of the door and rolled the window back up with the strap hanging on the inside. Much more safe and secure, BUT be sure to hold the door steady while your passenger is getting in, otherwise they'll slam the door shut on themselves and whack any body parts that aren't safely in the seat or even send themselves flying onto the ground.The doo-hickey that's supposed to go in the side of door and be used as a sort of crutch to lean on when getting into the car? Doesn't work well. It kinda rattles in the metal loop it goes in, hangs at a downward angle, and doesn't feel safe.

Handle is for small latch car doors
The handle was too small for the door latch. Unsafe for elderly people to use alone.Strap is great though. Simple and helpful.
