Well worth it if you would like your plants to thrive.
Background: My wife and I moved to a new place. I was putting off bringing the few plants I owned in pots inside the house, and then BAM!, the first night hit where it was below freezing and I was stuck at work unable to help my poor plants. These were originally my mothers and I have made somewhat of a poor effort to keep them alive in the 6 years since she passed. But, at this new place I was taking a new lease on it, I was newly invigorated to make these nice healthy plants. I did OK initially, most of them thrived outside at the new house. But then I basically killed them by not catching them before the first freezing night. I ran home made a space for them inside, bought a lamp and then was torn on the bulbs. The only one's offered by my local home depot were kind of blue-ish things labeled "grow bulbs". I bought one but wasn't particularly trusting of it.Fast forward a week, and the plants just weren't responding. The remaining plants in the pots were kind of just wilting a bit more day by day. So, I said, "what the hell, why not give it a shot".I'm a believer. The plants are growing ridiculously well. I was thinking about buying a couple more so I didn't have to rotate the plants on a regular basis. I just turn it on in the morning and turn it off when I get home. Make the sure the plants are watered when they need it and they are green and vibrant and loving it. I have some plants I can't identify and they are slow starters because I lost everything above the surface on them from the freeze. They are starting to come up though and they look healthy. When I rotate my plants around the plants start growing towards this awesome bulb, proving that this was a good buy.The bulb itself is made up entirely of LED's, so the power consumption is not even noticeable, and they should last a good long time at that. They put out next to no heat as well, so I don't have to worry about cooking my plants when I leave the lamp on. When the sun is shining, I do try to put plants in the natural sun, but I have no issues keeping these little guys alive and healthy thanks to this awesome bulb. My mother would be proud of me and she would love this bulb.

Great for indoor succulents in the less-sunny Midwest
Great bulb! It’s really helped my plants grow. I would caution you to be very careful, though. If your plants are used to dimmer indoor sunlight, then you could end up burning the leaves if you’re not careful. Just keep an eye on them, and start off having the bulb farther away to monitor the effect it has on your green babies. I think I’ll have to get another bulb, though, because just one isn’t enough for my multi-level window display. Unless the plants are all on an even surface (like arranged on a flat circular table beneath the light), it’s difficult to get consistent light coverage. The distance between the bulb and your plants matters. Generally I keep it about 8in from the top shelf of plants, but it’s not strong enough to reach the fourth and fifth shelves located just a couple feet below. This means I just have to adjust where I put the light, which is fine, but sometimes I forget. Also, be prepared the have a very powerful neon purple light shining wherever your plants are- this bulb is no joke.

Deceptive product info and delivery estimate
This was described as a 50W bulb. But in the fine print of the product description on Amazon, in garbled English, it indicates that the actual wattage is only 20. It may be equivalent in light output to a 50W traditional light bulb but it is deceptive to call it a 50W bulb. The expected delivery date shown was also deceptive. The item was not even shipped until 9 days after I ordered it, long after the estimated arrival date initially shown.

Helping the young plants grow
The plants love it.The cat even seems to love it.The light isn't too intense, but when I sleep on the sofa, it does wake me up. We have it on a timer to start helping the plants grow at 7am.It doesn't seem to add to the electric bill at all.Let there be light!

SUPER BRIGHT. Works perfectly. Highly recommend.
I’ve become a pretty big indoor plant fanatic, and was worried about the light my plants were receiving during a NYC winter. I’ve supplemented the natural lighting with this bulb for just over a month now, and am seeing awesome results. My succulents are putting out offshoots, my pothos are (thankfully) keeping their variegation, and I was able to propagate quite a few plants under this light. Highly recommend. Just a warning, this light is SUPER bright, and all your neighbors will see it through your window

Bought 1 and it was so good I bought two more 80 watt versions. These things are amazing.

It’s good enough for seedlings.
This was just an extra light to help with seedlings.. seems to work good for seedlings or small plants too I suppose. I only have used it for seedlings, which it’s been effective so far. Hangs about 20” and only 2 or 3 plants at a time.
