Accurate and hilarious
As an oil and gas worker, this book is a spot on accurate look at the industry and the insanity that goes on. Well written and an easy read. Had me laughing out loud more than a few times as I killed idle time on the rig floor. A worthwhile read for anyone, and a must read for any oilfield trash.

That doesnt make them any less funny though and Paul Carter is a good story teller
I work in the offshore oil field around the world as a diver. Some of the things in his stories are new to me but for the most part they are things all of us experience in the industry. That doesnt make them any less funny though and Paul Carter is a good story teller. Not only that but the title alone will have people asking what your reading. Another great story about industrial adventures. The reasons i didnt give it 5 stars is, one its a quick read and i was left wanting more, two I am a little jaded to what was described in the book and didnt find it as funny the person who recomended it to me. Neither of those would keep it from being a 5 star read for others who are interested in reading about a job outside there normal 9-5.

Great Funny Book
It was given as a gift to someone that works on the pipeline, and she said it was a great book with lots of laughs.

A fun read.
This was a fun read. Parts were hilarious. Some parts were rather like reading a journal, where not that much happens. I liked it though, because I have also worked on the oil rigs, and so I loved the stories of the people Paul worked with and the challenges he faced on the rigs. It's a cry life, and he sure captured that well.

Laughed out loud on the bus
There were so many hilarious moments in this book, I definitely laughed out loud while on the bus to work and received more than a few funny looks! It was brilliantly written, having quite a laid back 'Aussie' style to it, and a fantastic read. Loved it.

Don't Tell Mom I Work on the Rigs: She Thinks I'm a Piano Player in a Whorehouse
A honest story about a boy who is growing up in a contrasting world. He ends up in the world of drilling for oil and shows in his stories the bleak and funny sides of this sub universe.A very readable book which tells about places and people that most people don't know exist, let alone visit.Written uncensored and straight forward although not for the faint of heart.I enjoyed it very much and it reminded me about my time in the oil.John van Ekris. Sydney Australia. The second book is called "this is not a drill" also very good.

Talk about a funny, adventurous life!
Like other reviewers, I laughed out loud so much, I had tears running down my face and a belly ache. Now that's a wonderful thing. Is it a literary masterpiece? Of course not nor was it meant to be. But if you want to laugh and get an insiders view on this most unique, dangerous, high-adventure occupation, you will love this book, I sure did.

Worse than second hand
What a waste of money, there are stains on the cover, ripped pages and looks than I'd imagined.

Good read
Interesting and hilarious. Just don't start reading the book while sitting in a plane. I did and the first few pages made me go 'No, no, no' . (But, really, read it.)

if you have ever worked on an oil rig you will love it!
And even if you have never been on a rig you will still find the book engaging and entertaining. Paul has a very relaxed manner of story telling and makes you feel like you were right there talking to him about the adventures. If you love adventure and want to see what a free spirit in the oil industry looks like you have found your book! Well done Paulie!

Class!
I have to say that the cover did make me do a double-take, as to what it was all about, but as has been said, the 'blurb' on the cover is absolutely bang on.This is just the sort of thing that you should always have to hand. Hilarous, well written, well paced; the sort of book that grabs you by the scruff of the neck and will have you, literally, laughing out loud whenever you dip into the list of Mr Carter. To be honest, you'll struggle to put this down (I did) and will have chewed through the colourful backdrop of the rigs, the people and the various countries (not to mention some colourful tales) in no time. Can't wait to get my hands on the follow-up.
