I purchase several things on Amazon and was giving pretty in-depth reviews. From this point on, here's the new agenda…. if it works as advertised, is well made, meets or exceeds the description, is a value, and arrives in a fair amount of time, it will get a "star rating" equal to what my expectations were/are. If it doesn't meet these criteria, then I will most definitely and descriptively tell the short comings of the products and you as a consumer will not have to go through the trouble of buying the product without some background knowledge. If the sell pulls that item and relists under another description, I will put the exact same review on the seller's feedback page. These work great if you need an auto punch. I put one in my toolbox at home and the other one in my toolbox at work.

It's a center punch... it does not create mound and mounds if Julianne fries, but it does punch into soft and hard substrates, creating a starting point for drilling. Simple tool for a simple application. 4 star rather than 5 because it does require frequent re-setting when using repeatedly.

I litterally bought these because they were the cheapest. I did some rersearch, and there were warnings about cheap automatic center punches, That the points weren't hard enough, or that the mechanism wouldn't work reliably. I figured that since I was planning on using on wood, the hardness wouldn't matter. I also thought that with two at least one would work. So here is my review after using it for a few weeks. First off out of the box only one worked. But after some more research and several dissassemblies, i found the fault and have both working now. the advice I didn't get from yu tube was to just swap one part at a time from the working one to the nonworking one until you find the problem. Once I did that the fix took less that 10 minutes. About hardness, I'm only using this on melamine particle board panels, and ply wood, But when I use it I use 100 strokes per day minimum. So softer material, more impacts. I'm seeing no degradation of the point. Overall I'm very happy with the feel and relability of these tools. They are making my job (installing cabinet hardware) easier and faster. I'd recomend them to anyone, using softer material, or anyone interested in getting familiar with this kind of tool

I love these things. I ordered a two pack, one for the bench and one over by the drill press. I'd never had one of the spring loaded ones. Push down and the punch does the punching, without a hammer.

Would give 4 or 5 stars but both of mine stopped working after 8 punches each. One works when it wants to and the other doesn't work at all.
