Clear, Concise, Useful Resource
Fair warning, I only received this book in the mail about 25 minutes ago. I already love it. The explanations are very clear and concise. The accompanying pictures could be slightly better if they were in color and could thus use contrasting gis. But this is a really minor problem since the pictures are pretty good otherwise. Very useful resource for me already.

This book is awesome, pick up a copy!
This book is awesome, pick up a copy! Big illustrations, multipage step-by-step instructions. Only the Kodokan Judo bok is more comprehensive, but this is THE book you need in your collection if you are a student or teacher.

Good pictures and helpful pointers
The beginning and intermediate Judo student will be pleased with book. It is a good introduction to the major Judo techniques, starting with the basics such as falling and unbalancing you opponent, and then introducing a number of the more common techniques (throws, sweeps, chokes, and holds). Each technique is accompanied by a number of pictures showing the progression of the moves (including different variations) as well as good explanatory text. There is good reason that this book has had 48 printings!

First class judo bible.
The book should be used as a text book for any junior judo class. The only drawback on the new printing is that the text and pictures are getting smaller as is the actual book itself. I love the pictures and illustrations by Sensei Hal Sharp on this book.

Simple and Effective Judo
17 Gold medals, 2 silvers, and 1 bronze are credited to this book. I could have not achieved any of my judo goals without this handy, easy to follow book. It excelled my techniques by breaking it down and pinpointing movement. With that and a lot of hardwork I was able to master the sport. I miss every moment of the sport since my injury, how I wish I could go back. I keep a copy of this book next to my trophies and belts for memories.

An oldie but goodie!
Old but very well written and clear textbook. Some of the sections about competition and grading are out of date but that doesn't really matter. The instructional content in this book is great.I was lucky enough to find that my copy had a hand-written message to the original owner by one of the authors.
