My first and biggest reason for liking this more is because it isn't blinding like the previous model
I use this with the older model side by side (new model on the left, old model on the right), but I prefer the newer bulb. My first and biggest reason for liking this more is because it isn't blinding like the previous model; a couple minutes inspecting plants under the older model and my eyes hurt for several minutes and everything looks green. It's not as pink as the picture, it's a subtle warm color, so it's got the qualities of a grow light but I can easily work under it as if it were a regular light. While they both claim 60° angle, the new model looks brighter and illuminated wider. Under the new light, my succulents "blushing" are much more apparent. Just like the old model, it keeps cool after hours of running. I'll have both bulbs on for 10-12 hours and they're barely warm to the touch.

Failed just shy of two years of use.
Sept 19, 2019Â Woke up this morning to this light flickering on and off. I keep it on a timer, screwed into a clamp lamp, and it has operated the same since I bought it. It is rated for 50,000 hours. Two years of use at 12 hours a day is roughly 8760 hours, and this one didn't make it that far. I don't know about the other one I bought since I gifted it to a friend.I did change how I am using this light since my original review. It has been trained on cymbidiums in an east window as a supplement light for a year now, helped them greatly through winter. Until it broke today, that is.The light worked great, until it didn't.(Original below.)======================================================================There's no way I can beat the best positive review on this product, but I will say I've had it for a couple of weeks now and I really like the tone of the light. It is gentle, not harsh. The unit does not get hot, only a little warm, I have mine seated in a large aluminum clamp reflector which helps further dissipate heat. The light bleed isn't crazy-bright and glaring so it's great to have on early or late when plain white lights can be distracting to sleep patterns. I will be buying more of these fancy pink lights soon. Or my plants will eat me.Edit: This review is for the new "golden" model in late 2017. When I ordered this product, I could have sworn the old and new model had their own separate listings and sets of reviews. Now, I only see this one listing, which has reviews at least as old as 2014, with the old setup of lights (the green model) that were blue/red/pink and not the single uniform pink lights of the newer "golden" model. This does not change my opinion of the product, but I do think it is deceptive to combine the reviews as the newer model is NOT the same as the older one.Edit 2: I personally wouldn't recommend this light for orchids unless you're just propagating them, as you won't be able to appreciate the colors of their blooms as well. Orchids such as phals don't need supplementary light as they are generally low-light plants so using this as a supplement to true daylight or daylight spectrum lighting would be wasteful.I am currently using these bulbs as a supplement to natural lighting from a window during winter. The window is temporarily covered in opaque decorative paint and doesn't let much light through. One bulb is not enough for the large area I am trying to cover so I am adding a second. The low light plants (pothos and philodendron) are fine with the spread out lighting at 5' distance. The 7' weeping fig demands more lighting than that and is angrily dropping leaves on my living room floor in protest of these unsuitable conditions. I will update how it responds to the addition of a second bulb.

Great Lights if they Last!! (But they do have a warranty-Read update)
When the product works it is Great. However, I Bought FOUR of these lights within the last year. They are set on a 12 hour timer in my home in a controlled environment and two of the four failed within 6 months. That is well shy of the 50,000 hours promised. The other two are still working fine. The growth and health of my plants from using these lights is amazing and there is a very noticeable difference, however I now have only two functioning so the benefits are minimal.(UPDATED) I am boosting this to 5 stars. after reading this the seller contacted me and replaced both the burned out bulbs at no cost and expedited the shipping. Even tho two of the bulbs may not of lasted as long as they should of, the seller quickly informed that they are under warranty for a year and offered a replacement. That to me is top notch customer service in parallel with a great product, kudos.

Updated review after 11 months
An update, 11 months after its purchase:I purchased two of these bulbs and while one is still functioning, the other bulb started flickering. I have to turn it on and off for at least ten times until it stops flickering, for whatever reason. In addition, my plants do not seem to thrive all that well. If anything, the ones that are really close to the bulb end up with burned leaves as the lamp does emit some heat. This grow light bulb is phenomenal! Since I bought it, a month ago, my plants have grown like never before. I have a balcony that does not get any sunlight, but my plant requires it as much as possible. Not wanting to give up on my dream of having blooming vines, I decided to give this product a chance. I use it about 12 hours a day and my plant has grown for about a foot and half, in the past 25 days. I can literally watch it grow thanks to this light! I do need to note that the bulb is rather bulky, so pay attention to its dimensions. While it does produce some heat, it is minimal and I do not see it being an issue for any plant, unless it's touching the bulb. I will be buying another bulb as soon as I change the balcony light fixture to accommodate more bulbs than just one. Oh and one more thing, rather important.... this bulb has a rather narrow angle, it's more like a spot light. So, if you keep it at 2 feet height, it will cover an area of approx. 8 sq inches, which is sadly really not that much.

Don’t bother
I don’t like this light at all. I have 2 grow bulbs (please see photos) and they are vastly different. The light coming from this TaoTronic light is white, not purple as shown in the photos. Every time I put my plants under this light they start to yellow. I have another grow light with the purple and blue lights and my plants grow a lot under that light. I’m not sure what this is. It’s not a true grow light, that I am sure of. Buy the green one as this white light is the gold light shown in photo. Or buy a different brand. I cannot recommend this light.UPDATE: TaoTronics sent me an email after they saw this review. They said the light was not supposed to be white and that they would be happy to send another bulb. I’m impressed! How nice is that? I’m definitely going to take them up on their offer and will update my review when it arrives.
