wonderful
This is a wonderful book. The stories touched my soul at times and at other times had me laughing out loud. The characters are great and very interesting. I read this book in Spanish many years ago. My mother also laughed out loud and reading it again brought me close to my beautiful Mom.

Great Italian Comedy Series
Excellent stories that are a series that are best read in order. Also fine background on the author and the history of the time the stories take place in the PO valley of Northern Italy after WW2. Don Camillo is the best : funny compassionate and profound.

Simple delightful lessons
Very much enjoyed. With few words, the characters came to life, and what characters they were! Short chapters, perfect for times you’re waiting somewhere, or to read before bed.

Added Stories!
The edition I bought has additional stories that were not included in the original American editions 50+ years ago.I first met Don Camillo and Peppone on a little-visited shelf of my high school library in the late 1970's. What gentle satire about Italian politics was doing there I still have no idea but I have sought out and re-read these books at least once a decade since. The characters are so lifelike you could expect to meet them walking down the street, the situations utterly timeless despite being immovably rooted in another time and place.Whether dealing with lovers from feuding families, the death of the town's beloved retired schoolmistress, the need to do something about hungry children, or a test of strength at a carnival the Roman Catholic priest and the Communist mayor meet in their common humanity -- under the watchful eye of il Christo.

Funny and endearing
Daft but endearing stories about an unlikely priest. You probably have to be a Catholic to appreciate some of the jokes. Several ‘laugh out loud’ situations.

Entertaining, an excellent read!
It was a Sunday school class for adults - a new dimension from all religion being serious!

Winner
Fun stories that make my family of boys laugh out loud. And occasionally, they come out with Don Camille quotes.Watch out for the intro - one of the stories is about government flunkies entering private property and beating a beloved family dog to death. Yeesh. So far, no nightmares about that.

This is the introduction to one of the greatest bodies of comic literature in history
There are many faults to this collection of short stories, beginning with the fact that the final cycle of stories was left incomplete, and that in fact the closing story has never been published in English (except on my blog). But nothing can undo the effect of a wit the equal of Wodehouse, and an underlying humanity that treats the enemy with as much respect as the hero. This is the introduction to one of the greatest bodies of comic literature in history, and if you haven't read it, you are deprived.

The Little World of Don Camillo (No. 1 in the Don Camillo series)
The first of the series of lovely Don Camillo books. The delightful humour remains undated and still funny despite the passage of years.

Funniest most heartwarming book series!s
My favorite book series. Read first when I found it in the school library and then to my joy, found some second copies on ebay. Now really excited that I found the whole series on kindle! Basically that's how much I love it

Read as a child
I remember reading about Don Camillo and Peppone when I was a child, loved it and when I saw it again, well I didn't just buy "The Complete Little World of Don Camillo", I bought the five other books to! I highly recommend these books telling tales of these two Po Valley gentlemen's verbal and not so verbal sparring! The books also give us an insight into history of Italy just after WWII. I can guarantee that my copies will not just sit on the shelf!

A lifetime classic for me
My mother used to read Don Camillo to me when I was a child and 50 years on, it's still as fresh and charming as it was then. Simply wonderful!
