Very satisfied
I’ve been wanting a robot vacuum for a while but was hesitant. Landed on Roborock after watching tons of robot vacuum reviews. Went with the Q10 and have been very happy so far. Vacuum feature works very well and does a great job at picking up the dust, pet hair, and dirt that accumulates in my house daily. I run this thing daily and it amazes me at how much is in the dust bin after each session. People don’t realize how dirty things get. I have a 1 story house with all wood floors which I feel is ideal for these things. I have some rugs and mats, which this vacuum handles well. Easily moves over thresholds and smaller bumps. I think a robo vac is good for someone who keeps their space fairly clean but wants something to maintain that. This vacuum is not going to replace a regular vacuum, but it will cut down on the number of times you’ll need to use a regular vacuum. If you run this thing daily/every other day, you’ll find that you won’t need to use a regular vacuum much anymore (aside from larger messes/spills). I believe that if you use this vacuum daily, you’ll prevent dust/hair/dirt from accumulating to a noticeable amount. It handles the small day to day build up easily as long as you run it often. Have not used the mop feature but honestly don’t expect it to work well (which I’m fine with because I just wanted the vacuum feature). I doubt any robot vac would mop well because it just can’t generate the force a human can with a hand-held mop. Maps out your home well and does great at manuevering around obstacles. Will adapt to your house as things change. App is cool because you can set schedule and have it clean everything or specific rooms. Overall great product and worth the price.

Excellent robot vaccum (see details). Highly recommended
To the world, I am an early adopter. However, the thing to know is that, even within early adoption, there are different levels. For example, when Tesla released the Model S in 2012, I instantly KNEW I wanted one. I ended up buying one 3 years later. Sometimes I'm on the bleeding edge of technology, but when I'm not so sure about its viability or sustainability, I will sometimes wait a beat. When Roombas made a splash in the early 2000s I was skeptical... mostly about limitations due to battery technology (runtime, suction), but also intelligence (processing power, sensor suite, firmware progamming). Friends and coworkers would buy robot vacuums, but then stick them in a closet after a while. Fast forward to late 2019, and I think I might finally have my vacuum! The Roborock S6 Robot Vacuum is really the first product of its type that I thought would work for my use case. My house was built in the early 80s, so it has some architectural quirks that newer homes don't have. The house has two stories, but that's not really that unusual - what's a bit different is that various sections of the house are sunken or raised by a half a foot. It's visually interesting, but a robot vacuum isn't going to parkour its way around the place. The largest contiguous areas at the same elevation are about 1400sqft, 900sqft, 1700sqft, and 1200sqft. It's a big house. The "cliff" sensor in the S6 is super important, with the dropoffs. I figured I'd get an S6, see how it worked in one area of the house. If it worked out, I might get 2 or 3 more. The S6 arrives in a series of Russian nesting boxes. When you get to the actual retail box, the packaging is slick and professional. The components are individually bagged. The vacuum arrives already assembled (there is no battery pack or filter to install), and the docking station, power cable, documentation, mop components, tray, and extra filter are also included. Preparing the S6 consists of putting the power cable in the base (you can choose which side to route the power cable out (nice touch). I was a little surprised that there was no way to secure the base to the floor or baseboard... the base has anti-skid rubber pads, but some people may want to opt for a more permanent and cleaner (ha) solution. Next, I put the robot on the charger (it arrived charged to about 60%). I downloaded and installed the Roborock app from the Google Play store on my Pixel 3 XL (Android 10). When you launch the app you are directed to create a Roborock account. Roborock does not support external auth'ing (Apple, Google, FB, etc.), so you will have another password to keep track of. After you validate your email, by entering an emailed verification code, you are in the app an ready to add your robot(s). The app shows all nearby, unregistered Roborock devices. Select the vacuum from the list (even thought there's likely to only be one thing on it), and you will be prompted to select your WiFi network's SSID. Enter the auth information and whether you want to save the credentials to your account (presumably for the easier setup of future devices), and it will push the configuration to the vacuum. A minute or so later your vacuum will be communicating with your app via STUN/STUNT/TURN, instead of through the vacuum's ad-hoc WiFi network (as you'd expect, the vacuum's SSID goes away once the device is on your network). Just a side note here: with all of your IoT devices, like wifi sprinkler controllers, smart TVs, smart speakers (Sonos, Alexa, Google), vacuums, home automation stuff, cameras, etc., it's a good idea to set up a VLAN'd SSID that has NO access to your PCs, laptops, and NAS devices. It's just a good idea, and it doesn't really take much work. The hardware side of the vacuum is pretty straightforward. There's a small waste bin on board, with no sensor to tell the vacuum when it's full (kind of a deficiency, in my view). There are infrared, laser, and tactile sensors to sense obstacles. There's a small, pleated air filter to keep from ejecting just-vacuumed debris back into the air. There are provisions for mopping, in terms of on-board water, a metering mechanism, and mop attachments. The key component of the vacuum, though, is the battery. It's really responsible for most of the performance (and performance limitations) of the device? Runtime? Battery capacity. Suction power? Battery capacity. Speed? Battery capacity. Even noise, which is pitched as a positive, is low (in-part) because there isn't more power budget to devote to the vacuum motor. Finally, if you're wondering why it doesn't use a HEPA filter, it's also due to power. More restrictive filters reduce suction (at the same power level, with the same motor). The unit seems well made, with decent workmanship, but my personal experience with its longevity is nonexistent, since the unit is new to me (I'll post updates if I encounter problems). The software side of the vacuum is where things get interesting. You see, the product page of the S6 lists all kinds of awesome features, but they can only be used if you enable "Map Saved Mode" in the app. That mode is marked beta. If you're a technologist, you can look at the S6 (and its feature set) as being a product of something called agile software development. You come to market with the minimum deliverable product, and then you use your stakeholder input (customers and potential customers, in this case), to drive continual development of the product's features. If you're NOT a technologist, or you're a cynic, you may just look at it as having been sold an unfinished product. It's worth noting, though, that your phone, your laptop, and possibly even your car subscribe to the agile development methodology. Roborock probably assumes that anyone that's willing to get a robot vacuum is probably down for continual development. The operation of the vacuum from the app is pretty cool. On the first run, you can see the ray-projection LIDAR as the area is mapped out. You can also see the route trace as the vacuum does its thing. Neat. The cliff sensor worked well without me having to set a no-go area. I also didn't have to set any invisible walls to keep the vacuum from getting stuck or hung up. All that, and the vacuum didn't mark any walls or furniture. The S6 did move a light metal waterbowl around a little. The vacuum is quiet enough that it didn't freak out my 3 small dogs. The problem I did run into was dog-related, though. My first run with the S6 was on a 1400 sqft area, about 2 weeks since the last vacuum (I was expecting the S6 to come earlier). The issue was that the roller and the waste cup were full after about 700 sqft. That's not really that big a deal, but the problem was that the vacuum had NO IDEA that it was full. Only after returning to the base did the unit say that the filter was clogged. No kidding. That seems like something to address in a future iteration of the product. Since the subsequent cleanings were much lower volume, it wasn't an issue that was repeated. Obviously, YMMV... I have no idea how dirty you are :p I was a little worried about vacuum handling the transition on and off the doormats and rugs in the area, but it handles them like a champ. After the 1400 sqft area is done the battery still has about 40% capacity. I did OAuth the skill to my Alexa installation. It works, but I'm more curious how it will work when I have multiple devices on the same account. I haven't used the various robot vacuums, since their inception. Hearing horror stories about them definitely scared me away for years. For me, the Roborock S6 gets it right (enough), to the point where I think now is the right time for consumers to get in. Despite the best software features being labeled "beta", the product acts and feels mature. I Expect to buy one or two more S5s or S6s. Highly recommended.

Don’t make the mistake I did, Roborock is Garbage…
Less than 10 months after purchasing a Roborock Q7 it is dead, completely. It fails to power on, won’t connect to the app, and is for all intents and purposes a paperweight. This happened after a ‘firmware update’, and this in my experience has been one of, but not nearly the worst of the experience with Roborock. Firmware updates all seem to cause massive problems for the vacuum, from deleting maps, removing features, and now outright bricking the vacuum. Once the device failed I did what any customer would do and contacted their support. When I tell you that Roborock has the worst, capital W, Worst support I have ever utilized, I absolutely mean it. Roborock support is only after hours, meaning if you are located inside the United States, you will only be able to meaningfully communicate with support at night. They have a 24x7 helpline where Tier 1 technicians provide basic, extremely limited support. In my case it was “Press the power button, does it turn on?” After that I was told the Tier 2 support would need to be involved. Tier 2 support is only via email, and expect at a minimum 24 hours between messages. Roborock confirmed that they do not have interest in allocating the resources to allow customers to communicate with Tier 2 support. They do not see the value in it. So I waited patiently for a response. The device is after all only 10 months old, certainly they would just ship a new one and refurbish mine that was bricked by a bad firmware update. Surprisingly that was not the case. The response I got back was that the device was Out of Warranty. 10 month old, a $500 vacuum, and it’s “Out Of Warranty”. I was told that if I chose to I could ship the device back to them at my own expense, and that sometime later it would be returned to me and that they would ‘attempt to repair it.’ The thing that interested me here is the length of the warranty. I was confused and messaged back, assuming they had made a mistake. Obviously the device was under warranty, it was just 10 months old. I confirmed the serial number and again, waited 24 hours for a reply. It almost began to feel like a NASA mission, where I was waiting for some communication delay between me and a set of engineers on another planet. I am an engineer, and I have some experience with warranties, so I went to look how long the warranty was on Roborock Products. The warranty, it turns out, is 30 days. Roborock only guarantees that their products will continue to function for 30 days after purchase. Past that date repairs are only carried out at the end users cost. Generally a warranty time is set where you calculate the MTTF, mean time to failure of the components, and you design the warranty to be long enough to cover basic failures, but not so long as to include the failures of consumable products. Given this knowledge it’s safe to assume that Roborock does not expect their devices to last more than 30 days. The design is intentional, and these aren’t ’out of band failures’. Roborock is, and I confirmed with support, aware of the fact that their devices all will fail within a year, and the expectation is that the customer can, if they choose, continue to pay for subsequent repairs, regardless of whether or not this failure was caused by misuse, failure of components, or by receiving a bad firmware update. All of that in mind, the actual functionality of the vacuum is also extremely limited. We ran our vacuum on a nightly schedule for 10 months and rarely was there a night where it actually completed the schedule without getting lost, stuck, or failing in some way. Low lying furniture seemed to provide an especially difficult challenge, as the vacuum would constantly climb onto the furniture legs and then become stuck. The solution ended up being placing ‘no go’ zones around everywhere that the device would get stuck, and after about 7 months of tweaking the map, we were able to get it to successfully complete a single run. Of course roughly 40% of the map had been blocked off and in subsequent runs we found that the Roborock frequently got ‘lost’ and wandered into No Go zones, only to then freeze and require us to move it manually out of the zone. It was a little like having a toddler vacuum for you, some part of the floor got cleaned, but overall it was more work to use the Roborock than it was to just vacuum it ourselves. Even when it did vacuum we found that it did at best a mediocre job, often leaving debris behind, and that the ‘mopping’ function left our floors streaky and resulted in a wet and smelly mop being dragged over our carpets when it transitioned between floor types. There is no function to tell it to vacuum carpets first and then mop floors, in fact it randomly moves between floors and carpets in a way that seems designed to ensure as much of the carpet as possible gets wet. The Lidar function is all but useless and in watching the vacuum operate I watched it constantly bounce and knock into things, seeming to have no idea where it actually was at any given time. It functioned roughly as well as a cheap robot vacuum without any lidar or advanced mapping features. Finally, and this I only learned recently. Roborock is entirely located in China. I include this because for a lot of people there are serious concerns with services and hardware that communicate back with Chinese servers, largely because the Chinese government openly identifies that it has the ability to take possession of any data on any server that belongs to any Chinese company, which is why you have seen services like TikTok be blocked and why the Government has banned Huawei. Understand that if you have a Roborock vacuum that any data it collects becomes property of the Chinese government, including mapping data and anything the sensors detect in your home. This may or not be a big deal to people, but I feel it’s worth mentioning since Roborock does a good job of obfuscating this point. Overall I would say that the 500$ Roborock performs no better than a 99$ Eufy vacuum I have upstairs. The LiDAR doesn’t seem to function at all, it seems to have no ability to avoid furniture or to keep itself from becoming trapped or lost. Even when it does vacuum it does a mediocre job and generally leaves the carpets dirty and wet, if you use the mopping function. I would highly suggest you avoid both this model and products from Roborock. It’s clear from my interactions with support that Roborock has no faith in their products, they consider them to be disposable and provide only at cost repairs after purchase.

RoboRock Q10 S5+ works very well. Excellent Budget Robot! - 2 Month Review.
I purchased this RoboRock Q10 S5+ during Prime days, the price was like $254. I also purchased the Asurion 3 year product warranty at the same time for an additional $36. The first unit I received was brand new but out of the box factory defective. Kept getting "internal error, reset the robot" when I tried to perform the initial home room mapping. So 6 factory resets later, I still had the same error. I returned that unit for an exchange with another identical product from Amazon. What was irritating with that exchange was that for some that also resulted in the 3 year Asurion warranty being refunded and voided. I almost didn't catch that the extended warranty had been refunded and eliminated from my order. The new 2nd unit, the exchange vacuum, would have been without the additional 3 year service warranty that I thought I had from the original purchase had I not just happened to notice that refund. I repurchased the 3 year warranty to cover my replacement unit. Given my experience with the first robot and from some other reviews I have read on this particular robot, I would recommend folks to get the additional service warranty, you may end up needing it. Anyhow my review of the 2nd new unit which I now have.... I love it. Its a great robot so far. No issues of any sort so far. Its been operating flawlessly every single day. The room mapping process was easy and quick. The application on my phone is easy to use. The robot vacuums the floor well *and* in a very efficient manner - its does back and forth passes instead of the random direction bumper car vacuuming of my previous robot. It does not got hung up and stuck like my previous robot did. In 2019 I had purchased a Ecovacs Deebot N795 robot from Amazon, it was a cheap entry level purchase. It vacuumed well when it vacuumed but it absolutely got hung up on everything in the house. From pedestal chair bases, to every single type of chord, thick or thin in the house, socks you name it, That robot would find it and get stuck on it. There really was no such thing as an automated room or house cleaning with that unit. Completely different story with this RoboRock. It is completely a get it going and forget about it doing its thing type of an operation with it. It just does not get stuck! There have been 2 items in total which it has gotten stuck on since I started using it - that's it! In my bathroom I have one of those thick, rubberized backing, bathroom floor mats by the shower. It does not like that - however none of my vacuums do, including my upright Shark, So I just pick up that throw rug before I do the bathroom, no big deal. The only other thing it ever got stuck on was a fiber optic chord of some led lighting which my wife had plugged in one of the bedrooms. The chord for that was extremely thin and hard to see. I just eliminated that singular light and chord, Since then, zero issues. ZERO. I am truly impressed with how well this robot functions autonomously and how well it cleans the floor. Its not going to vacuum at the same level as an upright unit. This is for day to day maintenance vacuuming only - and it shines in that role. The plus unit also comes with a docking base that has a self emptying dust bin in it. I cant express how well that functionality works and what a time saver it is to have that feature. My previous robot did not. So you had to remember to empty the dust bin after every use, and the dust bins are not all that huge, so you could end up vacuuming with a totally full onboard bin and wonder why it was not cleaning well. That also made use of that vacuum not a set it, run it, and forget it sort of an affair. You had to constantly maintain and monitor it. Completely different story with the RoboRock. I have it set to auto empty every 30 minutes no matter what. Every 30 minutes of use it self empties and I don't have that issue. At the end of its selected cleaning cycle when it docks to charge, it also self empties when that occurs. This RoboRock came with a mop feature. From reviews of many different robots different manufactures and models within those manufacturers, for the most part the mopping features do not work so well. Maybe on units costing thousands of dollars you can expect some bang there with the mopping feature.... So I did not have high expectations for this part of the robot to work well and I did not buy this robot with much thought to using that feature whatsoever - it just came with the unit so to speak. Now after experimenting with the mopping feature on this robot, I will say that it works "ok". Nothing like wow or anything close to that, but the floor does looks better for using it rather than not using it. It will scrub off small spills and stains off of the laminate floor. It will shine the floor up a tiny bit. Again nothing earth shattering, definitely will never replace hand mopping, but it helps. The floor looks better and cleaner for using it. No drops of water left behind as well. Another plus with this mopping feature is that it DOES NOT dispense huge amounts of water onto the pad. You start out mopping by removing the mop pad and wetting it completely under the sink, wringing it out well before attaching to the bottom of the robot. Then, as the robot works, it basically has a drip dispenser from its solution tank to the mop pad to keep the pad damp and to dispense the water/cleaning solution in an IV drip manner onto the pad. This keeps the pad damp throughout the cleaning cycle but not overly so. As many of you know, excessive standing water and laminate/vinyl floors don't necessarily mix well. You don't want standing water getting into and under the flooring or it will swell and cause buckling. No issues here with that whatsoever. You do have to manually perform these steps with the wetting of the mop pad (and the cleaning of the pad once done), installing the pad, removing the pad - so just remember mopping doesn't fall under the fully automated category for this robot. So my final review of my RoboRock Q10 S5+..... totally worth the $254 price. Works extremely well and I am very satisfied with the purchase and performance so far. Its made maintenance vacuuming fun and truly effortless. Buy the extended warranty, as there may be some legitimate concerns for extended longevity and reliability with this unit. For an additional $36 dollars for 3 years I feel that it is worth the price for the peace of mind and long term insurance. Buy this vacuum would be my honest recommendation. Adding additional comment and review now that I have 2 solid months of daily use into the product. The Roborock app allows you to put the robot onto a scheduled cleaning cycle. So that is what I use for daily automated cleanings. Its very convenient and easy, a great way to remind yourself that "hey I have this robot now that I can use to clean my house every day for me". When you see it out and about doing its thing, that's your reminder! This is also a great way of ensuring your getting your moneys worth out of this product. With 2 solid months of use, no additional robot hangups beyond the 2 incidents which I described earlier, flawless automated performance so far. I have washed the air filter once. The filter is easily washable in the sink and doesn't fall apart. Cleaning that was important, it does get visibly dirty and does impact performance. I rinsed that out with just warm water and additionally the dust bin (using warm soapy water there). This maintenance took like 10 minutes and was easy to perform. I then air dried those parts on a sunny window sill. I have also pre-emptively purchased additional filters, brushes and mop pads on Amazon so I can perform that maintenance when the need arises. Not expensive. I have also discovered another big benefit of the predictable movement of this vacuum, where it travels in incremental straight lines across your floors instead of the random bumper car style of older robot vacs.... this gives you an opportunity to move furniture items out of its path before it reaches them. This is nice, say if you have and end table or something like that which you normally don't vacuum under, but you want to be more thorough in a specific case and get under it. This gives you time to move the item before the vacuum reaches it, very handy. Then once the vacuum has hit that spot, you can put the item back. I only do this once in a while, every few cleanings, but its handy. The predictability of the robots movements allows that. Another big plus of robot vacuums is their ability to get under furniture items which have a "crawl" space. So things likes beds, some cabinets and night stands etc. At its highest point (the top of the LIDAR unit on this vacuum) the height of this vacuum is 3 inches and slightly less than 7/8 of an inch. So if the free space underneath your object is 3 and 3/4 or less, this robot will definitely go underneath it. Getting these spaces clean is a godsend. The robot is excellent at this. Just further input on the phone app. Once you have your rooms auto mapped, you can add no go zones to your map as well as other manual editing options (combine rooms, erase part of rooms etc). This was handy so that like in my case I can have the robot quit vacuuming a certain area in our kitchen where the dog bowls are located. We have a rubber mat under that area. By marking this area as a no go zone the robot skirts around that particular spot each time which is great. For those of you who want more details and visuals, check out the "Just a Dad" channel on YouTube. This guy video reviews robots at nauseum. Be a bit aware though, I think he is compensated for some of his reviews, so be on the lookout for some occasional bias. Another thing, when your reading these reviews..... If you haven't noticed it, there seem to be many reviews here which are reviewing Roborock robots which are not the Q10 S5+ model, which is the robot this space is supposed to be for. Why they are mixed in here I have no idea, but it really wrecks the "read a relevant review" process.... Not sure if that's Amazons fault or the reviewers - so just be careful when that the review your finding in the review section actually covers the exact product you think its for. Doesn't make any sense but if you look closely, take this specific product as an example, you have a considerable number of reviews for a product "a", "b", "c" when this is actually the review area for a product "d" So make sure your read a correct review when your reading. That's why I like putting the exact product and model explicitly into my product review text because I see this discrepancy over and over in Amazon..... Final word - still think this robot is great, would rebuy it! Additional fruit salad..... keeping it real.... Our home environment. What we do have.... 2 adults (1 slob = me and 1 Mrs clean = "The Wife"). 2 dogs - one furry white haired Shi Tzu - with long hair, and one medium dog - with short brown hair, and 1 large long haired Maine Coon black haired cat. What we don't have...No kids (those are grown and making messes in their own houses and apartments). But we do not have a pristine house. But we also don't have small Lego's, plastic army men, Pokemon cards, small plastic spring gun pellets, small magnets, board game pieces, plastic doll accessories, pennies, nickels, dimes, gold fish crackers etc. laying around - you get it - the standard small kids in the house picture. We also don't have teenagers with their 10,000 USB charging cords in the house (instead we just have 50 - lol), no nail polish bottles, no 37 crusty socks under the bed, no used Kleenex's etc. Will enough of those small items impact the vacuum? While I dont have physical proof (no grandkids yet), but yes I think this vacuum would have considerably more issues if those was all present in the house and on the floor. So don't think that this thing will pick up after your kids. I know (firsthand) as a parent that's a bummer to hear....

Roborock S7 MaxV keeps my laminate floors dust free.
Although the Roborock S7 MaxV is not light on the wallet it has proven thus far to have been well worth the money spent. I did several weeks worth of research before buying this robotic vacuum cleaner. I chose not to buy the new S8 because I have all laminate flooring, no carpet anywhere and the S7 single roller seemed the logical choice. I ended up getting the black S7 MaxV and the white Auto-Empty charging dock separately because it was cheaper and there did not seem to be anyplace selling both the units in black. === THE VACUUM CLEANING UNIT === * The initial rapid (no vacuuming option) LIDAR MAPPING is exceptional in it's accuracy although if a room has ceiling to floor mirrors the LIDAR laser ranging will think that what's in the mirror is another room and it will show on the map on your cell phone app. Just create a "no-go" zone for that area and no problem. With each successive cleaning the machine seems to fine tune it's "understanding" of each room. However if one completely rearranges everything in a room it may take a run or two for it to fully adapt. * The OBSTACLE AVOIDANCE artificial intelligence exceeded my expectations. That said, when I do manual vacuuming I always move things around some to get to various tight spots so I do something similar for this robotic vac before turning it loose and I'm not lugging around a manual vac while doing so. Obviously if an object is very small it will not be considered an obstacle and it will go over it and try to suck it into it's dust bin. Sometimes an A/C power cord will fall into this category and it will wrestle with it and in my experience it eventually just leaves it but I just make sure I clear such wires before sending the gizmo on it's vacuum run. The obstacle avoidance feature has 2 settings with one being less strict than the other setting. I use it on the less strict setting so that it navigates narrow spaces more thoroughly. This can result in it bumping a door that is ajar such that it shuts itself into a room and can't get out by itself to either go on the next room to vac or to the charging dock. I just wedge rubber door stops under the ends of such doors and they stay put during operations. The MaxV variant of the S7 has the more advanced AI obstacle avoidance system and to me was worth the extra cost. The newer S8 units have similarly capable obstacle avoidance systems using just slightly different technology. * Roborock's mapping app for the cell phone does the job and and can be updated automatically. My only very minor issue with it is that when dividing rooms or marking off "no-go" zones on my smaller Android phone it can get a bit fiddly but I think most people have iPad sized phones these days so likely won't find this an issue. === THE AUTO-EMPTY DOCKING UNIT === * The docking unit is pretty straight forward and does a stellar job of emptying 95-100% out of the vacuum's sealed on-board dust bin into the sealed bag within the sealed container on the dock. The dock has an additional HEPA filter which prevents essentially any particles from escaping into the air around it. It can be rather loud during this operation which will at most only last 30 seconds. The empty frequency can be adjusted from "Smart", "Light", "Balanced" and "Max". the "Max" runs the full 30 secs and the other 3 are pretty much left up to the AI to figure out. Not sure what the diff is between the "Smart" and "Balanced". I just use "Balanced" and if in doubt manually run it from the app which will go 30 secs. I haven't filled the bag yet because it claims to hold 1-4 months worth of dust but that depends on how many pets, kids, foot traffic and where one lives as to how much service will be had from the bag. Also with this older (released early-2022) Roborock Auto-Empty units used with the model S7 MaxV vacuum a non-bag canister can be obtained which I purchased just in case inflation (no pun) makes buying bags a "no-go" zone. I don't think Roborock is offering that option with their latest S8 units. I just swap the container holding the bag with the special container using no bag. === THE APP USED TO CONTROL EVERYTHING === * I mentioned what I deemed the most significant aspects of the app above but it has other features which can be found in the manual and on Youtube. Bottom line is I am most pleased with my new Roborock vac. It keeps my house clean with really minimal effort. I am a bit of a technical geek (retired programmer/analyst) so maintaining the thing is more fun than a chore to me. It also made me laugh one time when I sent it on a mission to vacuum the wash room. I heard the unit's voice announce that it was leaving the dock to go clean. It rolled out into the living room where I was sitting and at first seemed to be looking around as though lost moving to and fro then after a few seconds of roving it suddenly figured out what to do and went straight through the dining are to the wash room to finish it's mission. This likely is not as amusing put into words as it was to watch. UPDATE 05-05-2023: After more time with this Roborock S7 MaxV I felt relating some additional experiences may be useful to some. Although I have not used the vacuum's mopping feature at all because my main interest is in it's vacuuming and superior navigational capability over time I began noticing my laminate flooring suddenly looking shinier. Mind you I hadn't manually mopped in an embarrassingly long time so this vac was doing better than I with my excellent Miele canister vac which I now only use to occasionally tune up the Roborock of accumulated surface dust from it's missions. The robot vac shamed me into actually doing a proper mopping of the floor. Now it will stay that way. The point here is that prior to using this type vacuum it is very useful to first thoroughly clean the floors (or carpets) as a baseline THEN use this spiffy device to keep it that way on a daily basis as it has for me. I'm an older widower living alone now for 8 years and I try to keep the place as clean as possible. With the S7 MaxV it's like having a service regularly vacuuming the floors. I live in the mountains and it takes no time for dust to accumulate here so again I am quite satisfied with this particular robotic vacuum. UPDATE 06-06-2023: After a couple months of owning the Roborock S7 MaxV and it's self-empty docking station I can say that using it to clean my laminate flooring once a week is more than adequate for a single guy living in a 2050 square foot single story home. I fired if up a lot the first week or so to assess it's capabilities. It was cleaning overkill for my purposes BUT I have zero pets and just one person with no carpets. My experience might have been different had I not first baseline super cleaned the house before beginning to use this vacuum. I mention this because I watched many reviews with videos showing problems with too much pet hair or "dirt" accumulated in the vacuum's dust bin before the thing could even finish a trip around their home's flooring. I've concluded that carpets are tougher for these machines which is why I have no issues with it's performance. Also if a home has 2 adults, 3 kids, 3 dogs, a cat or two and live in the country expecting one of these things to do a perfect job might be a big ask. Particularly if one does not have regular vacuum schedule adjusted to the amount of daily/weekly accumulated dirt. I get buy once a week but a household such as the one described above might require a daily run to avoid massive dirt accumulation in the dust bin before it's finished doing it's thing. The bottom line here is that this machine appears to be well designed both from a hardware and software standpoint but even artificial intelligence and sturdy hardware have their limitations.

Love the Q10 S5+
Owned it for 6 months now and am pleasantly surprised how good Rockie is. I didn’t want to spend too much for the top-of-the-line, but I didn’t want to buy a cheap robot either, so the Q10 S5+ was the best affordable choice when it’s on sale. Rockie is quite smart, even though she does not have an RGB camera (I didn’t want one with a camera due to privacy concerns). It uses IR (infrared) and is able to detect many objects, with the exception of items like loose slippers. I advise to move as much out of the way as possible. She can vacuum and mop an entire floor on the highest setting (Max+ and Deep Cleaning). It takes a while for deep cleaning, but she does a pretty good job. Obviously, you still need to vacuum parts of the house yourself, but the Roborock is well worth the investment in time saved every week. Hope she lasts forever. You need to manually refill the water tank and I recommend wetting the mop pad before you start since it doesn’t spray that much water to begin with. I haven’t had to change the dustbin bag yet since it holds a lot, but you can purchase extra bags easily on Amazon. You do have to occasionally clean the sensors and the brushes, but it takes a couple of minutes. The Roborock will map out your floor(s) and can detect carpets and rugs. Quite a smart robot. I move her to different floors once in a while, since she can be a bit heavy to move back and forth all the time. There is also a quiet suction setting, but don’t expect it to be completely silent if you have a dog or baby you don’t want to wake. Overall, I recommend the Q10 S5+. Technology has gotten so much better since the Roomba first came out.

Not as promised.
I have had an older Roomba for years. I was tired of spending so much time cleaning it after each use. This Roborock claimed self-cleaning, plus it claims it could also mop. Seemed too good to be true. When I saw it on sale, I bit the bullet and ordered it. I have been using it for a month, and feel ready to give a review. Pros: 1) the self cleaning is fabulous. Powerful vacuum empties the dist bin into a throw away dust bag in the home base. 2)The rotors are great, and do not collect the pet hair, as promised. They clean the hair off of the rotor, saving a lot of time cleaning hair. 3)The vacuum actually does an amazing job of reaching close to walls and corners. Much better than my old Roomba. 4)I like the fact that I can decide how strong I want the suction to be, as the phone app gives you choices of how you want your floors cleaned and how often. Cons: 1)Unfortunately, it is difficult to use the mop function without giving the Roborock a lot of help. This is because there is only one tiny little hole for the water to squirt on the backside of the mop pad. This means that it will take forever for the whole pad to get wet. At first there will not be any wet trail....after about 15 minutes you will see a tiny wet streak behind the vacuum. If you are lucky, it will become larger, but mopping is not good. To make up for it, you must wet down the pad before starting the cleaning. This is necessary, and completely eliminates the claim that it is a self working/cleaning robot. You need to actively work on it before it can eve start. 2)The pad itself is very difficult to put on. It has a tiny wire sewn into the pad, which must be threaded through the bottom of the vacuum. It is very difficult to get that tiny wire through the slit in the base. It must be done, because if the pad is not put on properly, the velcro-type strips do NOT hold. It simply falls off on the floor. 3) Underneath the rotors are hard plastic "teeth", that face both upward and downward. I believe they are used to take pet hair off the rotors as they spin, so the hair can be suctioned with the dirt. However, the hair/dirt sticks to these teeth, which are impossible to get clean. They small brush that comes with the kit does not fit the teeth. You will spend a lot of time with push pins and q-tips trying to clean those teeth. If they are not cleaned, they gum up with the hair and cause a roadblock, stopping the suctioning of the hair, which then wraps around the rotors. 4) This seems petty, but the vacuum is MUCH loader than my old Roomba. Good grief, it is loud. 5) The ad promised a remote control. It listed the remote as being shipped, and even showed the picture of the remote with the ad. That is one of the main reasons I bought it. I hate phone apps. However, it does NOT come with a remote. I am stuck using the phone app. Overview: I am spending a lot more time than I imagined on cleaning, preparing, and using this Roborock. It is also not as sturdy as it looked in the photos, and seems very flimsy in places. I did buy the extended warranty, so I hope that helps. I do enjoy have the vacuum/mop of my floors, as dog prints and hair is a daily battle. So I will keep on using it.

Game changer with large shedding dogs!
8/7/26 - Day 3 so we are still in the honey moon period. But this Roborock is a game changer for our main level. We have two labs that she's heavily and previously had 7 year old Roomba which didn't cut it. This product maps the room and cleans systematically and thoroughly. We have a mixture of rugs and wood floor and the Roborock does a great job covering both. There is one rug about 3/4 inch tall that it will not travel on. It is quiet enough that when I run it early in the morning, my wife is not woken up upstairs. Roborock, so far, navigates nicely around cords and other obstacles, the sensors are pretty amazing. Our main floor takes 2 hours to clean so we configure it to exhaust its dust bin every 30 minutes since we have so much fur, otherwise it does jam. We have not used and probably will not use the mop function. I honestly don't understand the one and two star reviews. We bought 1/2 off on Amazon. The list piece in the $500s would have been a harder purchase but given our experience, probably still a solid buy.

Fantastic robot vac
This is SUCH a good robot vacuum! We absolutely love this addition to our home. Mapping is great, I haven't had a glitch in the app, no go lines and no mop areas are reliable and easy to set up. The suction is great and leaves my floors without residue. We use the mop on most nights and are really happy with it's performance on our laminate floors. The first few times, you will have streaks. This is due to the floors being dirty. With regular use, the streaks will diminish. This is significantly quieter than our previous iLife robot vacuum. We can have it on the normal strength suction whilst watching TV in the same room. Filter is easy to clean, bin is big enough for our home - we empty after each use. Carpet performance is excellent. Haven't been the least bit disappointed. 2 dogs that shed a LOT are no match for this little guy.

Una verdadera maravilla. Instrucciones bastante simples, barre y trapea bastante bien considerando que es una máquina. El sistema de mapeo es increíble. Después de la primera excursión por las áreas de tu casa ubica perfectamente muebles y zonas de fácil acceso para ella, la app es muy fácil de usar, puedes dividir los espacios por zonas (habitaciones) y tiene una conectividad con Alexa muy fácil de enlazar.
