APC UPS Battery Replacement, RBC59, for APC Smart-UPS Model SC1500, magenta

A few years ago, I didn't think much could be said about replacement batteries for an APC Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) and this is still true, however there are a few things that make a genuine APC replacement battery cartridge a better deal, even though they cost more.1. These batteries are already paired and have the appropriate leads attached, so replacement is very quick and easy. I don't have to tape them together or spend time transferring the leads from the old batteries.2. These batteries have the correct terminal tab size for attaching leads. Many batteries come with narrow tabs.3. These batteries have much more lead than all of the others I have used.Why do items 2 and 3 matter? Well, attaching the leads with a proper, mechanically tight connection makes for a low resistance electrical connection which is critical for UPS function. And, weight matters in batteries. The amount of lead determines battery life, both how long the batteries will provide power in a power outage and how many times they will recharge and do it again.Yes, these are more expensive than all of the others, and no, they don't tell you how many Ampere-Hours they produce, so how does one compare batteries?I support a pretty large number of APC UPS units tangentially to my real work. I have tried all of the other brands I've found on the Internet and locally. You can take my word for it, or you can compare the weight of the old APC battery pack you are replacing to the new pack of any brand. There has always been a measurable difference, with the APC batteries being a pound or more heavier. This has translated, in every test I made, to a far longer life for the APC-brand batteries--for example as low as 6 months for cheaper batteries compared to 2 to 3 years for the APC-brand batteries.The most recent test I performed, with a national-brand battery pair, available locally, lasted one week and failed in the first 5-minute outage. This was probably due to a defective battery. However, I have never had an APC battery do this.Enough said.

This is my second battery in a week, the first "compatible" off-brand didn't fit in the UPS and just getting a return started has taken days... so far. This OEM replacement does fit, easily. And, in less than 5 minutes, my APC UBS was up and running again. No issues, no problem. And the cost differential was negligible. Love it!

I've replaced a lot of these APC batteries over the years, and always ordered from APC. Their products and service are top notch, right down to the free return. I had some concern this product wasn't going to be the same in some way, but was glad to see it was just the same but at a reduced cost.I marked down ease since the old battery case had expanded with age, and I had to remove the UPS case to pry out the old one. They are supposed to just slide out. Further, it's always been hard to get the battery terminals reconnected since the wires are barely long enough.But the APC batteries are long-lasting and do the job. I've never had a problem with one in over 10 years and in a lot of UPS units.

Why did the review form via Android app offer a review for "sheerness"? This is a replacement internal battery for a power strip and uninterruptable power supply (UPS). Weird. I replaced the battery. Charged it for 24 hours. Installed devices to use the UPS. After a day of my typical use I tested it. I unplugged the UPS. Devices kept running. Nice. Now I will need to update this review after the battery is recycled. It had better be free.

I’ve bought cheaper, non-APC batteries in the past and haven’t gotten around to recycling them. I decided to go for the APC-branded one this time because the price was reasonable for once (~$57 + free shipping) and I thought it would be interesting to weight the various batteries. The APC battery is the heaviest. More lead maybe? I’m not a battery expert and can’t say this necessarily means the APC battery is better, but it’s interesting nonetheless. Removing the label from another, smaller APC battery I have lying around, the APC battery was made by CSB Battery (Vietnam) Co., Ltd.

I purchased an old SmartUPS at my local ReStore for a bargain price. It was not working when I bought it. I knew the probable cause was a dead battery. I was glad to find this battery. Although it is somewhat more expensive than the off-brand replacements, it was still in the range of what I consider to be reasonable. It brought that old SmartUPS back to life after it had been neglected for a long time, enough so that the old battery had swelled and took a lot of work to get out. This one fit in perfectly and the UPS came back to life and should provide more years of usable service. I can't vouch for the battery life, but it should be okay for quite a while. I've not had a bad battery with the APC name on it. I can't say the same for some of the off brands.

Power back up back online. These batteries only last 3-5 years, but in that time protect your expensive electronics from brown outs, and power spikes that destroy your stuff.This is an APC OEM Replacement and went in like a breeze.--UPDATE--Florida summer storms knocked out all power for an hour, and ALL computers in the house successfully shut down and were protected by the APC software. Very, very, very disappointed!!! I looked up and searched for an APC RBC4 battery, and when I found the item and looked at the product image and it showed a battery with APC logo, and I ordered what I thought was an APC battery, opting for the more expensive APC $45 battery over a clone $25 battery believing I was getting a real APC product.I am not sure how I am to handle this. The item being reviewed even states "APC Replacement Batter Cartridge RBC4", which is exactly what I wanted, not a "unknown brand" look alike!Not what I expected from AMAZON or Amazon retailers!

Ich habe die Batterie von APC am 18.Februar gekauft und sie war nach 14 Monaten defekt.

Item arrived DOA and seller non responsive now but first responded with incorrect information. It’s a UPS battery and the UPS alarm sounds and replace battery light on. I have contacted manufacturer and they confirmed battery should be replaced as defective and I have already replaced it. I have no refund or replacement from the seller. Do not trust!
