Challenging book that make my child think
I purchase this book to prepare my child for G&T tests. I like the way it is written and the way questions are asked. This book is challenging enough that my child that he need to think a bit more, even the second time he work on the same problem. Since each problem takes up 2 pages, I would like to have more questions. So I take off 1 star.

The types of puzzles here test things like Spatial and Sequential Reasoning
I admire the way this book foregrounds the intelligence and curiosity that children already have. It makes clear that the path to success with Gifted and Talented tests just means channelling that intelligence and curiosity into the forms of the puzzles that children will see on the tests. The types of puzzles here test things like Spatial and Sequential Reasoning, Reasoning by Analogy, Aural Comprehension and Reasoning, and so on. This book does a great job explaining what each of those categories means, and how to practice and strengthen children's abilities through everyday activities, as well as through beautifully illustrated puzzles like the ones on standardized tests.

Very, very challenging for three year old
I'm trying to prepare my bright 3-year-old for pre-K admissions, but this seemed way too advanced. The puzzle are fine, but the level seems much too difficult for a three year old. It might work better for a five or six year old.

... holding this book in my hand and I am amazed by the way it is written
I am holding this book in my hand and I am amazed by the way it is written. In a very accessible and sensible way, the author puts together a game plan that will work for many children. I am a teacher in a NYC public school and a mother of four. I find this book to be extremely beneficial for educators as well as parents of young children. The author is correct in saying that we should start by looking at our kids' individual needs and struggles and then helping them overcome their difficulties. You are in for a great time with your youngsters! Have fun!
