Great place to start for newbie van campers
This guide has it all- how to shop for a camper van, what to pack, where to go, how to conduct yourself, and what to eat. Perfect for a first-timer, but a little too general if you are an experienced camper. My only disappointment is that the book didn't include any information for repairs or maintenance other than the advice to keep up with it. Even though the author writes about his experience in Great Britain, just about all the advice can be applied anywhere else in the world.

Mostly for VW owners.
I bought this because of the title. I thought it was a general Camper Van info book, and some info is useful, but most of it is the history and uses of VW vans.

Nothing special
Nothing special. Basic info on camper vans and camping in one. Save your money and read a few web sites. The only suggestion that I saw in the book that was new to me, was to rent before you buy. Nicely formatted, some cute pics.

Good if buying a trad campervan, less so for a motorhome
The title says it all in fairness, referring to Campervan. And the classic VW camper cover picture further reinforces this. So a good helpful book if buying a traditional pop-up roof type camper. The books pictures inside and has some references to van conversions (ie. panel vans with a shower/toilet within) and motorhomes. So it appears to be trying to cover all the bases. But there's no doubt this is really aimed at, and is most useful for, someone with or buying a pop-up rood type camper. There's some excellent recipes within, many more in the same author's campervan cookery book, and some great advice inside as well. It is quite a thick weighty volume too, could have been more concise with smaller fonts and layouts used - a point as people may well take this with them on their early trips away, it could be a bit more compact. So if you are interested in a van conversion or motorhome there are books more specific to those vehicles and money best spent elsewhere. But for a pop-up roof camper this is no doubt very handy.

Very informative and helpful
Very informative and helpful book, we are about to buy a camper van and I found the advice in this very valuable. Liked the chatty style of the book and the anecdotes of the author’s own experiences. One small niggle was that the recipes were almost all irrelevant for a vegan like me - also as someone else said, the author rightly talks a lot about acting in a responsible sustainable way when camping but then has a heavy meat based recipe section, including environmental nightmares like beef.Anyway despite that I’d really recommend for anyone considering buying a van, this honest book will get you feeling excited about camper van life and answer all your questions.

Lighthearted family-friendly advice
If you've seen Martin Dorey's 'One Man And His Campervan' then there's a pretty good chance you'll recognise the style of this book. It's a humourous and lighthearted resource written for people who would seek to holiday in their campervans (or buy one for leisure use). The four sections are more or less of equal size, so there are as many pages of recipes as there are of information on general living, making it quite a hefty book... but a charming one full of helpful tidbits, family-friendly ideas and stunning photography. This is not the book for those looking to do a conversion or a self-build (like me) - it doesn't contain enough nitty-gritty information for that - but it would certainly be a lighthearted companion once you're already set up and on the road. So it's not what I need right now ... but will surely come in handy further down the road (pun not intended).

Great for those looking into buying a camper
Given this four stars, some of the recipes aren’t very easy due to ingredients if you’re only camping for a couple of days. It’s definitely more a book for those considering buying a camper rather than those who already have one.

More use if you haven't bought a van yet.
As someone new to campervanning I was hoping for a lot more practical advice on living with a van. A large chunk of the book is aimed at those who are still thinking about getting a van and another large chunk is full of recipes. The section on electrics and leisure batteries is very brief whereas this is the sort of stuff I wanted to know about and could have done with a lot more detail. I really didn't need the patronising 'how to be a safe driver' section and he does come across a bit 'preachey'. Overall there is much better info available on the many forums on the internet but this is a pleasant enough read with some nice photos.
