Amazon Basics Mesh Desk Organizer, Black

This organizer stores a remarkable amount of pens, pencils and desk items without taking up much space. Mine is four years old and has retained its shape and its paint job.

My use was to organize pens, pencils and the like on the desk top. The unit arrived unscathed in good shape, I don't recall what it was wrapped in. As the per ad, it is a black wire mesh and I would say on the shiny side. The try on the top is plastic. Appears well soldered and sturdy. I tried to twist the unit and it resisted any flexing well. The bottom is mesh in the center square and a thick solid metal at the elliptical ends and has 4 rubber anti-skid pads about 1/2" in diameter. They appear silicone like- I briefly wetted one and rubbed it on white paper with no stains. On my electronic scale it weighted 15.6 oz.I have attached pics with a ruler so that one can get an idea of the dimensions of the various compartments. Overall the unit is elliptically shaped, about 9-1/2" long and 4-1/2" wide and ~3-3/4" tall.There are 4 compartments at the elliptical ends of the unit, the perpendiclar dimensions are 2-1/2" with the rounded portion looping around, and I use these 4 compartments to segregate pens, pencils, highlighters, etc. I was able to fit ~15 standard size pens/pencils in one compartment. Of note my Dish TV remote does fit in this compartment with a little wiggle room, but I don't use it for that.The top middle tray is plastic, measuring about 4-1/4 x 4-1/4 x 1" (L x W x Depth) with 3 compartments, two roughly 2 x 3" and one 1-1/4 x 4 x 3-3/4 x 1" (L x W x Depth). I keep a tape measure (12 ft), staple remover and paper clips in these, but may make way for ear-bud headphones. The plastic tray is removable and results in a compartment with the previously noted dimensions, and is 1" deep.The center bottom box measures about 3-3/4 W x 4-1/4" D x 2-1/4" H, it has a hole with smooth metal for opening with your finger. It will fit 3 x 3" Postits and/or standard business cards, but is too small for 3 x 5" cards. I don't think index dividers for the business cards would fit. There was a question in Q&A if this could be mounted on the wall. I have attached a pic- if you take the drawer out, one could probably screw (moly screw) the organizer to a wall or other flat surface, but depending on the weight to the load I don't know if the wire mesh, while strong, would last long. Maybe that strong 3M double sided tape would work to mount the unit.Overall pleased with this product, well made, sturdy, functional, and reasonable cost.If you liked the details and experiments in this review, please hit the helpful button, it provides motivation to do these tests.

I used this caddy to replace a fabric pencil case from my childhood that I've had hanging around on my desk for far too long.I love the multiple stand-up sections that I use for colored pens, pencils, markers, scissors - everything fits, and no rooting around in a single fabric case! The top works so well for flash drives and erasers making them easy to access. The style is pretty standard office fair, and looks professional on any desk.

Not sure exactly what to write, so here goes:Has a slight dent from either transport or manufacture (slightly noticeable{not really worth me returning}). When I first opened this product, the tray(cupboard?) was almost impossible to open, now it is TOO easy to open.The top organizer tray does come out and creates a nice little stash spot for emergency funds, but it won't hold much more than a 1/4 inch thick worth of stuff.This thing is pretty awesome for organizing my sharpies vs. ball points vs. fountain pens vs. felt pens.Feels of sturdy construction. I tried, by hand, bending the dent out. I was unable to. This does not mean use it as a step stool. If you did, you would only be able to add an extra six inches tops anyway. If you have miniatures, you could use it as a TOTALLY awesome homebase. or at least a garage. As a home base, it would kinda suck, it would be a small home base.As I said, if does feel sturdy, but if you summon demons, I don't think it would be strong enough to contain them.

When I purchased this I was mainly interested in the height, I wanted it to slide under my monitor and still allow access to some of the pencil holders. (I wanted it to free up some space on the desk while storing everything neatly at the same time.) So I wasn't expecting the actual size of this when it arrived. The pictures really don't do it justice, this could hold a lot of stuff and it's quite heavy duty. I was able to fit in all of the stuff I had scattered around loose on my desk and still have tons more room. Great price, good product.

I ordered this to organize my modest sized (15-20) make-up brush collection. It was far cheaper than anything marketed for this purpose and has just enough compartments that I can easily separate my bulkier face brushes from the thinner eye ones. The height of this unit is absolutely perfect for this purpose. The small organizer on top works great for shorter brushes too. My only complaint is that the small drawer slides a little too easily so it falls out just about every day when I pull this out of my storage closet - which obviously wouldn't be a problem if you were just leaving this on your work surface full-time.

The perfect storage solution for my desk for so little money. Black looks cool and perfect size (not too big or too small). So practically designed with 4 sections (2 on either side ) for pens, scissors, letter openers etc, 3 perfect size compartments for paper clips, pins... and nifty little drawer below I use for mini note pads and post its.Well made and sturdy... don't understand negative reviews about poor construction. Best 9 bucks I ever spent.

It's solid. It's about two handfuls big but not too big. It's useful for organizing pens, and small stationery. It has a cool little drawer. The drawer slides out easily and will spill out if it gets tipped over.

Still using it 4 years later!

Great little gadget for tidying some of my to hand items. As very useful day to day item.Just need to reduce some of the clutter in it now , lol
