First, the unit measures in Celcius. You need to keep that in mind. So 80c is 176f, 70c is 158f, 60c is 140f and 50c is 122f. Any lower than that, what's the point? Great for Chili and soup! First take everything out of the unit, put in about 20% water. Then put the large pot in. add about 50% of your soup/chili/product THEN lift the rim of the pot and attach the lid. NO there is NO way for the lid to stay attached if the unit is empty. For that it loses a star. But if your pot is less than 50% full, you're going to run out fast! Temp rises about 1c per min if set to max. DO NOT OVERFILL!

This soup kettle is really big and so pretty on the counter. It is designed to maintain temperature, not cook soup from the start. There is an easy lift out large inner kettle for serving.I took off a star because the hinged cover was difficult to attach with no directions.

This looks great, stainless exterior cleans up easily over the course of the day. The inner pot is also easy to clean but as expected it sometimes needs to soak a bit if the is dried on remnants, filling with hot water and putting it on high until hot does the job.I put hot homemade chicken noodle soup from the stove in it, did not plug it in, took it out to the river for a family fishing get together 4 hours later it was steaming hot I did put a towel over the lid because in my opinion it is the only part of this unit that needs improvement.Definitely commercial restaurant quality, sturdy, but I do think the lid could be better.With the heat turned on low soup is still excellent in the evening.Definitely recommended especially for the list price.As an Amazon Vine Member I always give an honest review whether or not it is good or bad.
