Yes you can. I have a Klipsch R100Sw powered sub attached to My Ai81. It works fine.

Do you need a preamp to hook a turntable up to the Ai 81 elite floor standing speakers ?

You will need a phono preamp unless your turntable has a phono/line switch or has bluetooth(wireless). You would use the line and connect to one of your unused aux connections on the back of the rt81. I have a good budget turntable that has both. I use the bluetooth connection in order to free up the two RCA connections for a cd player/TV/cassette deck etc

Will these work with a laptop?

Yes, through the bluetooth option for the Ai81. I have paired a bluetooth turntable and tablet. Of course your laptop has to have bluetooth wireless.
