Will Not Read Your Fingerprint For Passwords Or Unlocking iPhone!
I recently decided to replace the battery in my iPhone SE 2017 edition as it would not hold a charge for more than about ten minutes while in use. I tried to replace the battery first and it would not work at all. I then tore it down again and I separated the glass from the digitizer which I think was flawed. It was not glued down like the videos that show how to replace a broken screen. It also explains why I have had touchscreen issues with my iPhone since I purchased it directly from Apple. I ordered a new battery and a complete screen assembly and this home button. After I got the parts I read that you MUST use the home button that comes with your iPhone or the fingerprint option will no longer work properly. I have changed all of my passwords to the suggested ones that Apple recommends when you save one. It would have been hell trying to remember them and enter them manually. The home button that comes with the iPhones are digitally linked to the motherboard of that product. So I don’t really see any reason to buy this item unless you need to Rob parts from it like the gasket. However you can buy that separately as well. The original home button has a circuit board where this one does not. They somehow relay a signal to the motherboard. So if you decide to try replacing your battery, be extremely careful not to damage this connection or the ribbon.I finally replaced my screen and battery without damaging my original home button and it is not an easy job. It took me two days to get the phone back together. It is pretty easy to tear down but it is really frustrating to put it back together. Everything is extremely small and I spent several hours trying to get a necessary screw back into place that helps hold the home button ribbon in place. I finally decided to push it aside and try the next day. I got the small clip back into place on the first try but getting the screen connections back into the slots is a lot harder than it is to take them out. I finally got these seated properly and then I connected the battery. These connections kind of snap back into place. Then you have to put the screws and shields on to keep the connections from coming loose. The final part is attaching the home button ribbon in place. It is not extremely hard but the clip that holds it down is very hard to get seated in place correctly. I spent a lot of time on the floor looking for screws and clips. You also have to be extremely careful where you install the battery pack. Too high up and the screen will not go back into place as there are parts that need room to fit back in the case. Too low or too close to the edge and the home button ribbon clip is impossible to get in place. If you have the battery pack to far to the edge the screen will not want to snap back in place. After I got it back together I charged it up. I turned it on and the Apple screen with just the white Apple logo. I waited and nothing else happened. I took it off the charging stand and I pushed the home button. The unlock screen came up and it is now working properly. Still not extremely impressed with the quality of the battery pack I chose as it is better than my old one but it still does not seem to hold a charge very long as I expected.I only tried to repair my iPhone as I did not want to go buy a new one and have to risk catching Covid at the AT&T store. I actually surprised myself as I do not have a lot of patience with things that are extremely aggravating and I generally throw them in the trash. The videos that show you how to do this makes the process look easy. However these are probably people who have torn down several of these phones. In short if you want fingerprint identification and password ability with your fingerprint then this cable will not provide that function. It is a security issue that Apple has implemented in order to protect customers and their information on their products. Luckily I did not damage my home button ribbon. The screen I ordered needed me to transfer my home button from my original to the new screen assembly. If you damage the home button ribbon while removing it then you might as well buy a new phone.I am having similar issues with my iPad Pro and my battery pack not staying charged for a very long time period. I was considering buying the battery pack for it and replacing the battery pack as well. After watching a video on how it is done I am okay with being tethered to a battery pack as both of these devices are near end of use life. They will not get the iOS 15 update. So I am going to hold out until I have to replace both items.

It does the job, it's cheap.
The media could not be loaded. It doesn't feel the best, it doesn't look the best. But it works. No fingerprint obviously. I included a video of it in action on my worst original SE.

This home button replacement will not allow use for the touchscreen
It’s just ok, the lack of being a replacement is a downer, it kills the use for the identification which is the best of the iPhone SE

Good replacement part
Has everything needed for a button replacement. That said, the labor can test your patience. The ribbon cables are extremely delicate and easily damaged. A good step-by-step video from iFixit.com is necessary even if you’ve done this before. My advice is if you think you are going slowly, slow down even more. Doing this yourself Is a real money saver. I replaced the battery and home button in my SE, and it’s working as good as new.

Good buy
Please make sure to read that it DOES NOT HAVE A FINGERPRINT READER. Seller still sends the package listing that it does, but only the original installed home button has this feature, thanks Apple. It replaced the one I accidentally broke trying to fix a screen, but, due to it being straight and not folded like original, it was a pain to get installed. It does come with a gasket, which is also a pain and not preinstalled (?) but from what I’ve seen, don’t get too OCD about it because it seals pretty well and makes it feel like a brand new button.

Basic Button, Gets the Job Done
For a low price, this product will get the home button on your iPhone working again. It is a basic button. The original Apple TouchID button is made from a thin piece of mineral (sapphire), similar to a crystal watch face, while this one is clearly plastic. It has a very weak, mushy click to it that is nothing at all like the original Apple. The internal connector is also of lower quality, and does not attach with a firm snap. I wouldn't be surprised if it comes loose internally in the future if the phone is bumped or dropped, but it is working for now.The item came in a small ziplock package with no instructions. It is important to note that the small rubber gasket included with the kit should be placed on the back side of the button (so the button is first placed in the front glass panel, then the gasket on top of that). If it is done the other way around, it won't fit into the hole and will be stuck clicked down.

Saved me from buying a new phone for a while.
$8 for a new button or $600 (or more) for a new phone. $8 sounds great! My previous button died and this restored functionality to my phone. I have replaced my screen a few times over the years so swapping buttons was super easy. Watch some YouTube videos for instruction, the iFixit videos are pretty good. No more Touch ID and it activates Siri sometimes when I’m not trying to, but it works fine other than that. It does feel a bit different as mentioned in multiple reviews but that’s a non-issue to me.
