Don't waste time trying to make this – just buy it!
I'm a huge DIY type of guy and when I saw the price on most of these systems, I was absolutely not going to do it. Instead, I bought a couple of buckets and some plumbing parts and try to make my own following YouTube advice that they seem to have good success with. At the end of the day, I wasted all that time effort and money and I should've just bought this product. Absolutely works flawlessly and helps keep my shop vac (originally) and now dust collector as clean as a whistle. Could not be happier and would absolutely recommend to everyone. I love the design and the increased suction power because it keeps my filters clean. The product seems to be made durably. If I had one knock is that the maneuverability isn't great if you're attaching it to a shop vac but if you're using it with a dust collector, you will absolutely have no issues

Works well, very happy.
This is a great product. It works as claimed, collecting most of the dust before it gets to the vacuum filter. Ideal for a thickness planer, but works equally as well with saws and even as an intermediary if you're using your shop vac to collect dust from sanding drywall compound. Highly recommended.

Great when it works. Very fragile lid that is easy to crack and zero support from seller
This dust collector actually works great. I was surprised how much debris went into the bucket and how little went into the vacuum. My problem with the Dust Deputy is its durability. After only two months of fairly light use, the lid developed a crack on what looks like a weak point. With this crack, the dust collector no longer works. I reached out to the seller to see if I could purchase just a new lid and they basically told me to get lost, they had no interest in helping me at all. So now I just have a $100+ bucketEdit: After leaving this review, the manufacturer contacted me and mailed me a replacement lid, so I am one again up and running. Hopefully this lid will be more durable than the last one

Excellent dirt/dust/chip collection, you will save a ton on bags and burned out motors.
Pros:I've used this in several different ways and it works perfectly:In the garage for general cleanup of bugs, leaves, dirt, and sand.Directly connected to my sanders, table saw and jigsaw for sawdust/chips.In the fireplace to pickup ashes. My wife used it to clean out a dual charcoal/gas grill when I wasn't looking, and other than having to clean the greasy residue out of the cyclone and bucket it still worked perfectly.Heck, I even used it on my dog and it's crate to pickup a ton of hair. The only thing I haven't tried yet is drywall dust, but if it can separate ashes, I think it can handle it.It comes with 2 5-gallon buckets, a length of heavy duty hose (mine was grey), right angle adapter, a small roll of copper tape, caster wheels and hardware to attach to the bottom of one of the buckets (you will need to drill the mounting holes yourself). It also came with a block of foam and some hardware to secure one of the buckets to the side of your vacuum (which I didn't use). The lid doesn't fit on tightly like a normal bucket lid which makes it a breeze to empty, but when you turn the vacuum on it seals up nicely. The woodwhisperer did a very nice shoot out of cyclone separators and the Dust Deputy came out on top. [...]Cons:The top where the cyclone connects to the lid does flex, but in my case it is the weight of the hose hanging down that is putting pressure on it. I could see this eventually leading to failure if not addressed. This could probably be negated if I built a mobile shop vacuum station as seen in ShopNotes Magazine Issue #109 to give support. No surprise here, but the cyclone will build up a static charge sometimes. The copper tape it comes with is enough to put around the connections and on the cyclone itself. You'll hear the static when you pull one bucket out of the other to dump it's contents.Summary:I've had the Dust Deputy almost 6 months now and I have yet to replace the bag in my shopvac. I use the shopvac more now than I ever did because I'm not worried about changing bags out. In fact, in instances where I would normally sweep, I find myself just using the vac instead. There just isn't enough collected in the bag to justify replacing it. It basically paid for itself. I don't normally rate many things with 5 stars, but I can't recommend this one highly enough.

Unbelievable Effectiveness saves your vacuum and retians the sucking power
WOOOOOW this thin sucks, I mean the vacuum does not lose any sucking power. Grinding concrete the worst finest dust imaginable cloggs filter in 15 min and the filter bags from Rigid explode they are crap. Bought some china made bags that are amazing but they also eventually fail after half bag is full, no suction power. the grinder creates so much dust that the vacuum can't keep up. dust everywhere, it's a mess. With this cyclone machine, no more mess. Yes the sticky tape is a joke to attach the wheels 5 min, and it's gone. But I mounted the wheel brackets with screws as suggested and it's perfect. Don't suck anything without this device.
