Spigen Liquid Crystal Designed for Google Pixel 2 Case (2017) - Crystal Clear

Having owned the previous Spigen Liquid Crystal Case (easily a 5 ⭐ case) for my original Pixel, it was a no-brainer to purchase the newest Liquid Crystal Case for my new Pixel 2. Unfortunately, the things I really loved about the original Pixel Liquid Crystal Case weren't carried over to the updated model. Missing are the low-profile beveled edges of its predecessor (see picture of the Pixel vs. Pixel 2 side-by-side). You can see it's quite a bit bulkier now and it doesn't feel as slim nor contoured in the hand. So, if like me, you're coming from the Spigen Liquid Crystal on the original Pixel, you might want to be aware of the changes.Everything else is fine; the cut-outs for the buttons and the lens, fingerprint sensor. Just disappointed in the bulkiness.Update: Adding a side-view picture of the back, so you can see just how bulky the case is when compared to the original Pixel's Liquid Crystal case. I'd happily buy a new Spigen case if it were as low-profile as their first one, but I have to say this chunky updated version is quite disappointing.

Update: The case has turned from clear to a yellowish tint. Removing another star.Case fits well and has a nice feel to it. Seems peculiar to me that imprinted on the right side of the case are the words "Designed in Irvine California. Made in South Korea". Also, top right of the case has the words "Air Cushion Technology" imprinted. I initially thought these were stickers and disappointed to see it can't be removed. Takes away from the overall appeal so I'm taking a star away from an otherwise good case.

This is a nice feeling case. The cut outs for the camera and fingerprint reader have nice sloped insets. The power and volume buttons are easy to press through the case and don't require much additional force. My only issue with this case, and it really defeats the purpose of getting a clear case to being with, is that it oxidizes really fast and begins to turn yellow around the edges. I didn't take my phone through any harsh environments or soak it / drop it in anything or leave it out in the sun. I also don't smoke and i don't hang out around smoke.The case begins to take on a yellow tint that is strong around the edges (densest parts of the case) and unfortunately the color change makes the case unpleasant to look at and my phone doesn't look good with it on. i have heard of some Spigen cases not turning yellow and also that Spigen will replace the case, but some replacements still turn yellow. For reference I had this case on for exactly one day. Arrived Friday after work and was yellow by the following Saturday morning.

As a phone case, it protects the phone. However, it fails in being a clear case. After one week, it started having some discoloration streaks on the back. I replied via email to support shortly after but no response. It's been about 2.5 months and the whole case is gross gradient of yellow (see photos). I've had generally good experiences with Spigen and I have the same phone case for my iPhone X with no issues. Not sure if I received a bad initial batch but I cannot recommend this phone case.

After 2 weeks turned a sickly pale yellow 🤮...Fits well and feels good but it doesn't stay clear. I removed and went with a competitor.

It's not quite as thin as the iPhone cases but still pretty good and cheap especially compared to the Live cases. I ordered this so I would have a case to protect my phone until my Live case came. I feel the Live cases are really too expensive considering that it doesn't seem to have anything special about that just that we get a code that we can use to change the background of our phone each day. It doesn't really seem worth it to have bought the Live case but since I have it I'll continue to use it. And if that case gets dirty then I"ll go back to this case.I don't recommend the Live cases. I kept my phone at all times in my Live case only to find my phone wouldn't charge one day. I took off the case and saw the glass back was cracked even though it had been in the Live case at all times. I had to buy a $99 fee to get a replacement phone in addition to the monthly fee for the warranty service. But it was replace next business day. My previous Nexus 5 also broke easily and the glass cracked. I wish Google would fix the glass breaking easily even when in a case issue. I don't think the Live cases do anything to protect the phone so I can't recommend it. I only wish there were a way to write reviews of the Live case and Pixel on Amazon.

I purchased a Pixel 2 four days ago. I am getting used to the new phone, but it is a slick feeling, slim phone and felt a bit "fragile" in my hands. This case arrived today and it instantly elevated my feelings about the phone! It feels sturdier, is easier to handle and grip, and looks great! The power and volume buttons are easier to manipulate as well. The fingerprint sensor appeared off center at first, but it was due to my light source being at an angle and the clarity of the case. If you hold the phone where light falls directly on it, the fingerprint cutout looks dead center. Even if it was off by a fraction of a mm it would be a non-issue. (I am attaching a photo of the fingerprint sensor with light falling directly on it.) All other cutouts are fine as well. The cutout for USB-C charging is plenty roomy so the charger clicks in all the way. When I am exercising I transfer my phone to an armband holder. The phone fits snuggly in the case, but popping it out will not be an issue. The only thing I can see that might be an issue for some is that the sides of the case don't have the little dimples that might enhance the grip, but the material itself, in my opinion, feels fine as far as gripping and holding is concerned.

Don't get me wrong, I love these cases and have bought a couple for my various phones throughout the years.I love a clear case - but the reason for the lower rating is purely because of the fact they go slightly yellow after a few months and I feel it makes the phone look dirty!Everything else about the case is perfect - I just wish there was a way to get a (non-hard plastic) case that doesn't change colour!!

An amazing product. I've dropped my phone several times from various heights and onto solid (concrete, wood etc.) and soft (cloth, bed etc.) surfaces and the phone is still, after 2 years, in mint condition. I don't even use a screen protector because the edges of the case are enough to protect the screen by itself. Overall, the case is strong, durable and flexible. It does make the phone a bit heavier and thicker but it's nothing major and you easily get used to it. On the upside, it also makes the slippery back non-slippery and makes it possible to hold the phone easier and make it stand up leaning at objects (good for watching videos or movies).

This is the second of these cases that I have bought. It's functionality is absolutely superb, second to none. I have dropped my phone on several occasions and there has never been any damage to the phone (or the case). From my photo of the new and old cases beside each other, you can see that the only reason I felt I ought to replace the old one is the discolouration. The old one has been noticeably discoloured for a 3-4 months now. It was bought on Dec 2018. That's only around 10-11 months from new to discoloured. This the only reason it's a 4-star review and not a 5-star.

The case is an excellent fit for the Pixel 2 and provides excellent protection. The slight negatives are:- over time the plastic turns pink- dust gets under it and it's easy to damage the phone removing it to clean it the dustThe pink issue may not be a problem for everyone. I'm not bothered particularly although it caused some brief entertainment in the office when it was pointed out!The dust issue also isn't a big deal, but I'd probably not want to take it off too often as it can damage the phone or at least scuff it (on a Nexus I saw it catch the glass slightly causing damage at the edges when taking it off, despite care)

Spigen is usually my go to brand for cases for phones as they are usually well made, robust and reliable.Firstly, let me start by saying the case is well made, it fits the phone nice and snug and looks the part.My only issue is oily marks to the glass back of the Pixel 2 - It was wiped clean, along with the inside of the case, but there still is some small oily marks to the rear.
