Nyko Portable Docking Kit for Nintendo Switch - Nintendo Switch;

Just arrived, after having it on pre-order since June; UPS got it hear a day late, but better never.First impressions, it looks like your standard packaging from Nyko. Has the common languages on the box for the US (Eng/Spa). Has some basic product details and even states the AC is capable of providing the unique 5v/15v switching AC required for the Nintendo Switch Dock. First prototypes of this dock did not include the USB Ports at E3 but was discussed that they were working on that. Nyko did indeed include the USB ports just like on the Nintendo Dock. It was also nice of them to include an additional HDMI Cable. One small thing to note, There IS NOT ANY NINTENDO SEAL ON IT. If that scares you, then walk away. I don't believe that Nintendo has officially licensed anyone to make a 3rd-Party dock. This is completely reversed engineered.Pulling it out of the box, everything was neatly packed in a molded package shell and a manual tucked underneath. The HDMI and AC adapters have ample length to setup the dock about 4-5' away. Giving room for those HTC setups to cable manage.The Dock it's self is about 3.5"x4.5"x2/3" (1.5" at the height of the USB-C Connector and 2.5" with the backstand in place). The back stand sits in a stole away spot on the back. Sliding it back and forth to lock and unlock it. It's pretty easily removed and placed back. I'd rather see a better way to have it held into place, as I can see this getting lost quickly if I take it places.Overall construction is solid, it's not too cheap, edges feel solid while the tops and bottom flex just a little bit. I don't expect it to break at all with some minor wear and tear in a bag taking it places. However the USB-C Port does not retract all the way flat. So keep that in mind when traveling with it. It folds back a bit (about 20-30°), it's just enough to prevent the Switch from wabbling around when docked. The backstand fits snuggly into the top and has a secure slot just like on the Switch Dock to guide the switch into place. The base also has the secure pins to stabilize the Switch once nested into the dock, another feature taken from the official Nintendo Dock. The Switch sits nicely in and secure without having to provide any excessive force, only needing to be rested in place and gentle pushed down. It will not connect flush with the Nyko Dock Base, so don't force it.All the ports feel natural and like any new port(s), provide a secure and solid hold to prevent disconnects. I got everything I had plugged in. USB Cable to charge the JoyCon's on the Charge Grip and a Datel USB Ethernet Port (Old Wii from WAY BACK). Without the HDMI cable plugged in, the switch turns out, shows it's charging, network connectivity via USB Ethernet works and JoyCons are charging via Charge Grip.Once the HDMI cable is connected is where I found one minor issue(s). Nothing serious, but it's one of those 'I gotcha' moments about why it might be a drawback for a few. HDMI CEC (Consumer Electronics Control) which allows for an HDMI device to output controls or commands to the TV without the need of a remote. I greeted with a surprise when I first got the Switch that it Auto-Inputs the TV to the source port the Switch Dock is plugged into when you turn it on or dock it while it's on (A TV has to support CEC, My 2009 Hitachi has it). Sadly, the Nyko does not include HDMI-CEC within the dock. So, when you dock it, it's best have your remove nearby to change the input. I tried it several times different ways and it would never auto-input/source the TV. Once the input was changed on the TV, there was one other noticeable problem. The input sense on the dock was a little slow and fickle. If the TV was not on the correct input when it was woken or docked, it wouldn't display right away. However it did work flawlessly when you dock or turn on while it was on the correct Input. Changing inputs would cause the dock to disconnect briefly and reconnect. Again, if it wasn't on the correct input, the dock won't display a signal.Once connected, everyone worked as it should! Picture wasn't degraded, washed out or over/under saturated. I played a few titles for about an hour to make sure there wasn't going to be any overheating problems. Zelda BotW and Mario Kart 8 DX proved to be a good testers for thermal issues. Just like in the Dock there is room for the vent holes to breathe. The Switch appears to be cooler than when in the Official dock because it's not being obstructed by base. The stand covers the vents just a little bit, but nothing that seemed to impact it at all. This dock seems to help the Switch dissipate heat better with open air (as long as you're room/location is decently cool).All in all, it's a great little dock to have for 1/2 of the price for the official one. I bought this to use for traveling so I didn't have to carry the official one around. It's small, lighter (not that it weight that much to begin with) and works as designed! Even if I had to make sure the TV Input was on the right source first. Which again, I'm doing temp setups at Friends, Events and Tournaments. As long as it connects, powers, works with my USB Ethernet and displays to the TV it's perfect for me.4 Stars because the Dock DOES NOT SUPPORT HDMI-CEC and Input/Source Detection Issues.If this isn't exactly what you were looking for or worried about this not being 'Nintendo Seal of Qaulity' and you're ok with tools, you can purchase another Official Dock and use one of the many case replacement docks to make one portable, but again it will run you approx. $90+ if you can find one.

OK, So a little about me. I work in the tech support and have hands-on experience with product repair including USB charging port repair (or lightning port if you're an apple fan). I don't think the reports of the Nyko switch dock breaking switch charging ports are overblown. The USB-C port sticking out of this is mounted on a collapsible/folding plastic tab and I can easily see children or absent-minded adults (or god forbid middle school/tweens) destroying their favorite game console with this product.The issue is with how the Switch stands on the unit. It is held by the charging port with nothing restricting the movement of the console left or right, forward or back (think of an x/y axis here). So a good smack, push, or pull will focus all of the stress on the charging port. I can say after examining this the walls on the official Nintendo dock are clearly a childproofing measure. You will need to be VERY VERY careful removing joycons and swapping game carts while using this. I would not attach USB devices to the unit while the system is docked. I would go so far as to recommend removing the unit from the dock before handling the switch.DO NOT BUY IF: you plan to have your kids use this with no supervision especially if the children are young, excitable, and like to use motion controls (I can see an over spirited Skyrim playthrough ending in disaster with motion controls on the Nyko dock with one wrong move if the child is standing too close).DO BUY IF: You and your friends are tech savvy adults with well behaved supervised older children (or no kids, even better lol) AND you can handle electronics with a gentle gingerly touch.This is a good product for the right kind of person and lifestyle. I am writing this review after an unboxing and spending the weekend at my parent's house. This will be my primary dock through the holiday season as I plan to travel.I have not had a chance to test this unit with power adapters designed to allow North American devices to charge/be used by AC outlets in Europe/Asia. If anyone on amazon gets the chance please shoot us a review.

this has broken my nintendo switch. perfect timing over the holidays! I will want a more than full refund as this has corrupted my nintendo switch and i will probably loose all my saved game data.

*******IMPORTANTE********Recientemente Nintendo lanzó la actualización 5.0.0 de la consola. Y al parecer con esta actualización muchos Nintendo switch han quedado permanentemente dañados (Bricked) al usarse con Docks sin licencia (de cualquier marca) y/ o han inutilizado incluso algunos accesorios como controles inalambricos de marcas third party. Al parecer tiene que ver con ciertas medidas que nintendo ha tomado acerca del avance en los hackeos de la consola (Por ejemplo el famoso Homebrew) , y por lo tanto han querido bloquear cualquier intento para que se utilizen dispositivos no autorizados en el puerto USB-C .Debo decir que mi Consola ha funcionando muy bien con mi dock Nyko sim causarle ningun daño, sin embargo debo decir que por el momento he dejado de usar el Dock Nyko a manera preventiva y considero responsable el transmitir esta información para que tomes con cautela tu decisión de adquirir/usar este Dock. Considero prudente esperar algún comunicado oficial de Nyko o Nintendo.Si mi Consola llegase a fallar por este motivo, de inmediato lo comunicare. Por el momento mantengo mi calificación original.*****Análisis Original 2017*****Desde hace muchos años (ni siquiera recuerdo cuantos) he adquirido productos NYKO para mis consolas de Nintendo, desde el nintendo 64 (memorias y rumble packs), el Wii (intercooler, controles, pistolas), el WiiU (Power pack), algunos accesorios para mi Advance el DS y sus variantes) hasta el fantastico SWITCH. Y debo decir que siempre he quedado complacido con lo que obtengo y tranquilo por que no temía dañar mis consolas.En el caso del Nyko Portable Docking Kit fue diferente, ya que es imposible ignorar los comentarios aquí en AMAZON y en toda la red acerca de que se han reportado consolas SWITCH dañadas permanentemente por usarlo indicando que no volvían a cargar ni con el adaptador original.Así que debo reconocer, que estuve a punto de cancelar mi orden. Pero no lo hice y siendo honesto despues de mucho investigar en la red para informarme bien, tuve que respirar profundamente antes de probar este Docking kit.Y sin afán de lucro ya que yo no obtengo nada a cambio, solo quizá para otorgarle un poco de confianza de un usuario de Switch que como cualquier otro no quiere perder sus partidas o incluso no se si podría costearse otra consola en el corto plazo, le puedo decir que funciono mejor de lo que esperaba y sin causar ningún daño en mi consola.Antes de mis comentarios finales solo quiero decir una cosa ANTES DE USAR ESTE DOCK ENTRĖ A LA PAGINA DE NYKO PARA ACTUALIZAR EL FIRMWARE, que si bien esta actualización no tiene nada que ver con el problema que algunos dicen tener yo sugeriria que haga lo mismo para asegurar el funcionamiento correcto (necesita un cable USB C para conectarlo el dock a su PC, si ya tiene un classic controller o un grip de los que cargan, entonces debe tener uno).Mis comentariosPROS+Completamente portátil, ocupa muy poco espacio en comparación con el original y tiene todos los puertos (1 HDMI, 2 USB 2.0, 1 USB 3.0 y la entrada del adaptador de CA)+Además del Dock incluye Cargador con las mismas especificaciones del original (5v a 1.5 amp, 15v 2.6 amp), cable HDMI bastante largo, y soporte.+Los materiales se ven bien, especialmente el cargador luce muy confiable e incluso bonito. El manual esta bien redactado.+Sirve como soporte para jugar en mesa (se necesita desconectar el cable Hdmi) a la vez que se carga si se desea.+Se puede mover un poco hacia atrás y adelante mientras está en la base, esto es especialmente útil para no ejercer mucha fuerza al cambiar cartuchos mientras está en el dock.+Cuesta al menos la mitad del original.+El Firmware puede actualizarse, lo que garantiza que puede mejorar su desempeño y adaptarse a cambios futuros.NEUTRAL*El switch entra fácilmente al DOCK, pero para retirarlo, requiere un poco más de esfuerzo y el uso de ambas manos.CONTRAS-Cuando el Switch se inserta en el Dock, la entrada de la TV no cambia sola como el original. Hay que hacerlo manualmente.-El cargador incluido por algún motivo no sirve directamente con la consola, recomiendo solo usarlo para el dock.Por último, por ningún motivo dejes el switch "pegado" al Dock Nyko si lo transportas, considero que podrías causar algún daño a la consola. Simplemente separados y llévalos a donde quieras.Quede muy satisfecho con esta compra. Si necesitas un segundo Dock, este vale la pena.05/12/2017Casi un mes y medio de tenerlo. Y puedo decir que mis miedos han desaparecido. Mi Switch funciona perfecto fuera o puesto en el Dock Nyko. Valio la pena.

Muy buena opción si se necesita un dock extra y que cuesta menos de la mitad del dock original. Es plano aunque un poco largo y ancho, y el puerto USB C queda salido, si bien este se puede angular un poco para que no estorbe tanto, este siempre queda de fuera. habiendo dicho eso, es mucho mas portátil que el dock original. Cuenta con un pequeño panel de plástico que se guarda en la parte inferior del dock cuando este se transporta, y que una vez puesto sirve para dar un poco de mayor soporte a la consola, que si bien requiere un poco de mayor movimiento para que ajuste en el dock, queda siempre bien soportada y dija.El cargador con el que viene tiene como ventaja que se pueden retraer los enchufes metálicos para que no estorben tanto, bien ahí.Existen comentarios acerca del peligro que puede presentar este dock, para no tener problemas actualice el mio descargando un parche desde la pagina oficial y conectando el dock a la PC, no he tenido problemas con el mismo, la calidad de video y audio son impecables y tengo la conveniencia de usar un dock mas portátil que el original.

Es una excelente opción para transportar en menos espacio todas las funciones para la utilización en modo de sobremesa del Switch. El paquete contiene lo necesario para conectarlo; cable HDMI, adaptador de corriente (también más delgado que el que trae la consola) y el mini dock. Cuenta con una actualización de firmware que recomiendan hacer brindando los datos detallados en su canal de YouTube. Cuando recién salió este kit corría el rumor de que averiaba el Switch, sin embargo yo lo he utilizado en múltiples ocasiones sin tener un problema. En mi opinión sólo es cuestión de ser cuidadoso y paciente a la hora de colocar y sobre todo al desconectar el switch del Dock para evitar algún daño ya que se puede sentir algo de resistencia para su desconexión. Lo recomiendo para quien quiere tener un segundo dock y para quién desea que ocupe menos espacio al trasladarse ya que podría incluso caber en un case.

llevo dos años con él, desconectando siempre el switch del dock cuando no está en uso, y usando el cargador oficial de nintendo, nunca he tenido el problema que otros usuarios describieron, sin embargo, me llama la atención que Nyko no ha hecho "restock" de este producto lo que me lleva a creer que si era estadísticamente muy defectuoso y mi unidad es del, no sé, supongo 10% que funciona sin problemas, una lástima porque definitivamente este dock es una alternativa muchísimo más portable que el servilletero de nintendo.
