Guppies worth waiting for!
D & A Tropical Fish are at the peak of guppy evolution. I fell in love with common guppies in the 1960’s. The females then were plain, with little if any color. The males had small fins and splashes of color. Several males would compete in a frenzied chase, dancing before the most attractive female. And they had live babies—lots of them. I worked hard to get thriving populations (the secret is vacuuming the gravel, disposing of a third of the water, and replacing it every week—a little salt helps also).I learned through library books that fancy “veil tail” strains were being developed—amazing vibrant colors (even on females) and large fins. Anyone remember Herbert Axelrod? He recommended Water Sprite plants for maintaining water chemistry (it also is great cover for babies). It would be several years until specialized pet stores replaced department stores, and fish like these became available.Guppies continued to get both better, and worse. New colors emerged, including solid color, or two colors—one on the body; another on tail and fins. Then came the “cobra guppy” with intricate patterns. But the stock from pet stores was often poor quality. The retail tanks often contained a mishmash of strains, all sold as “fancy guppies”. These were likely the unsuccessful throw-offs from breeding programs that tried to produce show winners. But the vibrant health had declined, and it was harder to get a thriving tank from such stock (too much inbreeding?). Although “fancy guppies” cost a few dollars more, they were usually a disappointment. So, the next step for me was D & A guppies—these are not just fancy, but are truly show-quality guppies. The coloring is vibrant and intricate. And they exude health, vibrancy, and energy. They are fun to watch. Some will hate me for admitting that I am polluting careful genetic lines, by mixing two varieties—Blue/Green Dragon Indo Mosaic Guppy and RED Dragon Big Dorsal Guppy. The offspring won’t win a show, but I like the surprise of my experiment. I finally have the beautiful, healthy guppies that I’ve always wanted.I ordered through Amazon. Shipping inside a foam case maintains temperature during delivery. And, my order was not during winter. I think the yellow-tinted water may be treated with antibiotics, or other life-enhancing stuff. Still, guppies are fragile and one was DOA. Another faded in a few days. I do not fault the supplier at all. Guppies are fragile, and the journey was long. Fish that don’t survive transport are easily replaced. The business is friendly, communicates quickly, and is responsive to customers.I have one small concern to watch over. The male is still small, though well-developed in color and fins—but I’ve not seen any mating behavior. I wonder, is there so much vibrant color in them, that he doesn’t recognize them as females? Is he still developing; or just aloof? Since they all are in good health, I hope for the best. UPDATE: The very next day, he got with it. I am eager to see babies in the near future.I should add a word about cost. I paid far more for these fish than ever before. But then, I’ve never had guppies of such impressive quality. If these are the start of a new and productive stock, then the higher cost will be a good investment. I recommend D & A guppies with five stars.

DOA
The media could not be loaded. GORGEOUS fish I never even got to meet. These poor babies were shipped at the start of winter and were packaged with absolutely NO heat pack and were nearly frozen they were so cold. I am not surprised after seeing their situation that they arrived dead however with a live arrival guarantee I am not impressed. Beautiful babies wasted away

Well packed, safe and healthy.
I've bought 4-5 additions to my tank from amazon, these were packed and shipped in the best possible way, and better than any other seller. The fish looked exactly like the pictures, they are clearly in good health, and they adapted faster than any other addition to the tank I've ever gotten. You know how it's usually like a day before they kind of settle in and start eating and being relaxed in their new environment? These guy instantly were cool with the tank. I literally never saw anything like it. I sprinkled in some flakes right after I added them to the tank (because everyone got excited that I opened the tank and was thinking FOOD!) and they just instantly ate like everyone else. Like they just lived there their whole life and hadn't been in the mail. These fish were just really relaxed and not traumatized from being shipped because they were shipped so carefully. I would also imagine their old home must have been similar to my setup. I never saw fish adapt so fast. They are getting along with their other guppy friends. It's genuinely absurd. Usually new fish go hide, these guys acted like I had just scooped them up and transferred tanks as opposed to having been in a packaged ship across the country! They are also beautiful specimens. Can't wait for their genes to into the population!I would recommend this seller 10/10 times. Can't say enough about how good the shipping conditions were.
