I added this as a supplemental wavemaker on my 55 Gallon Reef Tank, and I was surprised on how much water this small unit moves. It's small fits perfectly in the corner. Takes up very little space and super easy to install. Would be perfect as a standalone on a nano tank. I have several Hygger products and they have all performed well, are quiet, well-built and reliable.

i have a 44 gallon freshwater aquarium that is planted and has driftwood. I have been battling surface film for at least two years. I used surface skimmers with some success but, the filter element in them gets dirty and clogs quickly. I was using them without their filter sponges and still had issues keeping them operating effectively. Ordered this wave maker and I am very impressed. No surface film and I did away with the surface skimmers. So far so good!

Why did you pick this product vs others?: I bought both sizes of this and the smaller ones are very quiet the medium sized one not so much. The magnet is strong and it puts out good water flow. I just have one problem... I went to clean it and I broke the ceramic shaft in the process. 😢 Is there a way to get replacements?

Feels like a solid build quality. Fairly heavy for its size. The magnet is strong! I have it in the back corner on the opposite end from the filter tube and pointed slight down. Flow across the gravel is good and there is no noise or vibration noticed outside the tank. Very quiet operation. Cheapest wave makers are only about $7. For a couple dollars more, the Hygger Mini Wave Maker seems sturdy and has a 2 year warranty. Might be an upgrade to consider that offers a good value.

Even though this is only for a 15-40 gallon fish tank, I am using it on a 75 gallon. Works great! Very quiet and helpful in moving water in dead spots. Well made product and definitely recommend.

THIS. Saved my 5-year-old planted tank when surface slime tried to take over. It’s quiet, effective, and I’d buy it again in a heartbeat. The only time I ever hear it is when I need to add some water to my tank, other than that 10/10 ********Less than a year-ish update: it started making some irritating buzzing sounds. I couldn’t figure out how to contact anyone, so I found the website and sent an email months ago. Never heard back. Life got busy and I had some family emergencies. It’s now gone out entirely. I’m very disappointed in the defective product (which is newer) as the first one I purchased is holding up just fine.

Still quite new but this is a great improvement over a traditional centrifugal power head, and best of all it’s completely silent. You can also effectively point it in any direction to stir the water, break the surface barrier and promote oxygen exchange. I added this to an aquarium filtered by a canister and need additional water movement. The magnetic mounting is an effective solution to the problem of brackets or suction cups inevitably becoming detached, or rattling in the case of brackets. Also easy to disassemble and clean.
