Nice reel
This is a nice entry level reel. Its casts very smooth. I was able to get great distances with every cast. Once I found the right setting the only backlashes (bird nests) I had were due to user error. Might have to get another one.

Okay entry level baitcaster
This is a lightweight baitcasting reel that has great features for its low price, with 10 ball-bearings, magnetic brake, and 7.2:1 retrieve. The gunmetal gray and lime green accents look sharp without being gaudy. The greens are not all identical in color – the aluminum anodizing and plastic coloring are slightly different shades – but that really doesn’t matter to the reel’s performance. While not as smooth as top-end name-brand reels, the spool does spin freely and the retrieve is nice. I loaded it with 20 lb. braid, and after dialing in the spool tension and magnetic brake, I was able to make very long casts with very little thumb pressure – including casts directly into the wind. Casts were also very quiet – unlike other cheap baitcasters I’ve tried that scream like a scalded cat! I didn’t catch anything that tested the drag yet, so that will need to be reviewed later.I did notice the thumb bar free spool not disengaging on occasion when the handle is initially turned. I haven’t taken the reel apart yet to see if this is a broken part issue, gear clearance issue, or just poor design issue. Time will tell if it continues to happen.I also think the instant anti-reverse is not rock solid. The handle can be rocked backwards ever so slightly… not as bad as the old-school baitcasters (before anti-reverse was a thing), but enough that it gives the reel action a slight clunky feel. The free spool engagement issue and clunky anti-reverse are the reason for rating this 4 of 5 stars. It would still make an okay reel for young anglers to learn to use a baitcaster.

Very pleased with this Reel
Got it in and quickly spooled line on it mounted it on my new rod and started tiring on a crank bait went down to the Community pond and started fishing after dailing in the reel with just a few cast and changing baits a few times I was able to finally catch a few small large mouth BASS. The reel is very smooth casting and retrieving the drag is great when set properly the brake is fantasticI am very pleased with the fish ability of this Diwa reel and Highly Recommend it. And buying it will not brake the bank for just under $40 dollar makes a great gift for the fisherman or women

This reel doesn’t work
First time using it and it already has a defective problem. If I set a hook on a fish the reel will backlash.. even when I locked it with the click it’ll somehow find a way to open up and backlash on hookset

Not very smooth
Seems like it has a lot of friction on the spool. Doesn't spin as well as some of my other reels.
