Fishboy Collapsible Stool for Adults, Portable Folding Camping Seat, 400lbs

I picked up this collapsible stool a few months ago, and it’s one of those simple things that ends up being more useful than you expect. It’s lightweight, easy to carry, and folds down compact enough to toss in a bag or keep in the car without taking up space. Setup is quick—just a twist and pull—and it feels surprisingly sturdy once locked in place. I’ve used it for everything from outdoor events and waiting in long lines to quick breaks while traveling. The adjustable height is a nice touch, making it flexible for different situations. On the downside, it’s not something you’d want to sit on for hours at a time, and like most plastic builds, you’ll want to be mindful of weight limits and uneven surfaces. But for portability and convenience, it does exactly what it’s supposed to do. Overall, a practical, no-frills solution when you need a seat on the go.

It’s a little heavy in the backpack, but very happy to have bought. Got tons of compliments at the parks lol. We bought for Halloween Horror Nights with 1/2 hour waits and this thing was a great purchase. It fit in a small backpack, got through security just fine. A little hard to the touch, but it’s not like I’m buying a couch! Very sturdy and I’m overweight, felt no worry of it breaking on me lol

THIS IS A MUST if you are going to busy places. I am 270 lbs and this thing was sturdy!!! I helped me and a friend of mine through all of the San Diego Comic-con. Its so easy to open and close, pretty light and fits right in my back pack.

Original review: Sept. 25, 2022 I have fibromyalgia, and broke my back 20 years ago. Sometimes I just need the flexibility to get off of my feet for a bit, and I hate lugging things around; I would rather sit on the ground than carry a camping chair for a few hours. Enter: this stool! This little thing is sturdy! It's basically held together by a spring, that you stretch open when you pull the seat and base apart, and there are dozens of little knobs which fit into matching notches to hold it apart. I'm a large person, so trusting this stool to hold my weight is an exercise in bravery. LOL The first couple of times I sat on it I couldn't stop holding myself with my quads, but once I finally got my brain to relax a bunch, I was able to fully sit and eventually test its mettle. I wiggled and shook my hips, even bounced a little. Nothing moved or shifted, it didn't creak, and there wasn't any damage to the little knobs that hold the interlocking layers apart. The more of these sets there are, the more the load is distributed for a sturdier hold with more weight. And it's still super lightweight! The carrying straps are pretty cool. The handle is unobtrusive and the shoulder strap is brilliantly designed to tighten around the seat and velcro to itself, or loosen to create a loop. When it's closed you wouldn't even know it's there, and my partner was duely impressed when I pulled it from the trunk of my car, opened the strap, and slung it over my shoulder. The look on his face was fun. ;-) The stool lost one star because I do wish that the longer strap were a few inches longer for a comfortable carry (maybe I'm nitpicking this, but had these 2 thoughts several times carrying it around a festival yesterday), and the hook side of the velcro is on the inside of the strap, catching on everything and irritating my skin. Not a huge deal, and I'll probably carry the stool in a drawstring bag on my back next time, anyway. I'm realistic, so I realize that this spring-loaded plastic stool won't last forever. When it does fall apart sending my plus sized booty tumbling spectaularly to the ground in public, I will know that I got my money's worth of convenient, on-demand seating at something like $25. Update! July 11, 2023 It lasted about 2 months of frequent use - failed October, 2022. As a traveling phlebotomist in hospitals, sometimes a draw just needs a closer, more relaxed hand, and a quick seat can help with that. It did eventually send me rolling backwards in a patient's room but only after I was finished and standing up - almost like the release of tension was the trigger. It gave no warning, though I wasn't hurt (it's a relatively low stool, afterall) and it was just a matter of picking up the pieces, which was an excersize in patience. I'm adding a photo of the broken stool. The layers for height are made up of plastic belts which are shorter pieces held together by I believe 6 shallow plastic pins where each piece overlaps its neighbor, on each side. It was a set of those pins that sheared off with no way to fix it. Once one layer fails, there's no hope of using it again. Honestly, it's still convenient and inexpensive enough that I plan to buy the updated version, and hope for more long-term stability. Happy sitting, folks!

The stool is great and it really does hold the weight that they say. My only suggestion would be after purchasing my first one and having it collapse on me and breaking is, do not rotate around as you’re sitting going left to right just sit on the stool. I was using it when I was going through stuff in my bedroom turning left turning right and unfortunately that’s how it unhinged itself and collapse with my weight on it and broke. This is my second purchase and I wouldn’t buy it if it didn’t work. Just as a caution do not rotate while sitting on it.

I use this in home health care and it’s very light weight, easy to carry, and easy to work. I bring it everywhere!

Admittedly i have not yet field tested this seat, but having used it a few times while at home, i am extremely optimistic! It arrives (and stows) collapsed so it looks like a sort of "fat disk" roughly the size & shape of a small seat cushion. Problem: Some people say (as i did at first) that it's too difficult to open. Solution: Instead of twisting it, simply hold it like an accordion and pull the two sides apart. The total 'shaft' very slightly twists itself into place as you pull the two ends apart. "Twisting" is more in focus when it's time to collapse the stool. THEN a very slight twist in each direction sort of "loosens" all the little parts of the shaft, allowing you to press the two ends together, and... Voila! It's as flat as a regular seat cushion. Collapsed, it's about as thick as your forearm. ;-) At this early stage, my wife and i both agree it feels sturdier than we'd thought it would be. Does "Size Matter...?" fully extended this stool is "17.7 inches". To put that in perspective, the average desk chair is set to a seat height of 16 to 21 inches from the floor. So in terms of height, this Fishboy Collapsible stool is pretty close to your own desk chair. Socially Awkward? While out in public, some might feel 17.7" is too short. It's one thing when i'm in the privacy of my own home. But 17.7 inches feels different when i'm out in public. "People are looking at me!" That type of thing. That said - by all reasonable measures, in terms of durability & quality, aesthetics, color, etc. I'm delighted with the Fishboy Portable Collapsible Stool for Adults. A terrific value for the money and i'm glad i bought it!

Mine broke after 2 years of fairly regular use, but I think it was mostly just due to the heat. It got up to about 90 F today and I imagine that weakened the plastic rivets that hold it in place. Still, I got a lot of use out of it until now and it is rather handy, so I'll probably buy another one.
