Hotori Arashiyama loves mysteries, but there's one she just can't solve: Why does the solution to one problem inevitably seem to lead to another? Like how when Hotori has to start working at the Seaside Maid Café after school to pay off a debt and her friend Toshiko fortunately knows exactly how a Maid Café should be run. Which is fortunate since Hotori has no clue. Except that, unfortunately, Toshiko has no interest in working at the café, until she discovers that Hotori's childhood friend Hiroyuki is a regular. Which seems fortunate. Except that Hotori doesn't know that, while Toshiko likes Hiroyuki, Hiroyuki secretly likes Hotori, while Hotori secretly has a crush on... No, no more spoilers! But if that's not enough drama, there's work, angst with a certain math teacher, table tennis between her classmates, her younger brother versus the school's bad girl. And yet, even though everything seems like it's going to crash at any moment, somehow Hotori's life keeps going hilariously forward in And Yet the Town Moves.

A Surprisingly Good Anime
Ok. Slice of life anime are pretty common(Second of course to the major genres like shounen). But a well done slice of life can be quite difficult to find. Not to mention I'm usually all for a psychological or shounen anime. Sure it may only be 13 eps bare bones release, but if you prefer sub anime and aren't burning for special features then this will a delight to watch. An excellent slice of life comedy.

Fun, but like a V-8 with one cylinder misfiring part of the time.
The set up is clean and straightforward. We are going to get to take a ride in a plot that is missing a few things and that misfires from time to time. The driver is a sixteen year old girl who is not part of Earth's Brain Trust. She has talent, but she only sees part of it, and has the goal of becoming a high school girl detective, no matter how long it takes. She has a boy she grew up with, and somehow manages to miss the fact that he really, really, REALLY likes her, so she sits on the sideline and watches as one of her friends tries to work up courage to talk to him in whole sentences. It needs more time to read explanations of the wordage used in a statement, or clarification of a behavior to explain why something is happening. Yes, it is put on the screen, but trying to read it in the short period it is there is more than just difficult, it approaches impossible unless you freeze frame the show. The girls are not all wonderful, beautiful young women, and the protagonist is somewhere around the halfway mark as for physical attractiveness with a plain face, with one friend looking better, one friend looking not nearly as good, and the male lead is intelligent, thoughtful, bashful, and someone that girls really notice.Oh, and in spite of her showing musical talent she never notices she is actually a good performer. The combination of girls, boys, high school, supernatural takes on how the story goes, dogs and cats that somehow are buffer material to keep it on course-- and it more or less works. What it needs is more episodes, and for a second season, it would need to focus on the clash as "she" notices that she likes her childhood friend, and "he" really likes her, but that he is being tempted by the two supporting "she" characters.I would say safe for kids, but they might be confused as to why the "girl chases boy while boy chases another girl and a third girl looks for a slot in the rotation" that formats the action and drives it forward.

A creation that breaks the mold
It's rare to see anime like this one.I've seen a lot of crap being produced lately by what appear to be japanese high school graduates who lack both depth and storytelling skills and thus can only come up with repetitive, contrived, cliched high school romantic comedies that are neither romantic or funny. i was getting jaded by this genre and setting. But every now and then you encounter hidden gems that just sparkle with freshness and substance, this show is one of them. Here, jokes are actually clever and funny and characters actually behave like normal people with normal hair colors and hair styles who converse with meaningful dialogues that give insight into their personalities. The enjoyable cast and their antics kept me interested throughout the 12 episodes of this slice-of-life. I especially enjoyed Hotori, the leading female, for her unique way of thinking and perceptive nature that allows her to notice things others, including the viewers, don't.It's refreshing to see a show that doesn't tease the audience with half baked fan service or insult our intelligence with archetypal characters who spew out immature dialogues in disgustingly high pitched phony anime voices.Don't miss this gem.

Craziest anime ever
This short (12 episodes) anime series centers on Hotori Arashiyama and her part-time job at a "maid" cafe. This is NOTHING like Kaichou-wa Maid-sama. Hotori is a bit of a scatterbrained detective-wannabe who gets into lots trouble. The situations are weird as hell and there are plenty of oddball characters to make this train-wreck anime worth watching.Anime fans will be interested to know that the opening theme is sung by anime legend Maaya Sakamoto and the closing theme is probably the weirdest theme song EVER; something worthy of a Japanese version of the Doctor Demento Show.

An entertaining show about the worst maid cafe ever
This show is quite entertaining with a cast of great quirky characters. Essentially, it revolves around a maid cafe where the boss and employees barely even put in the minimum effort. However, the stories do move beyond the cafe. The characters feel "real" as opposed to what you would get in a simple gag anime. The opening song and animation is also one of the more memorable ones you're likely to see.

Love this show
I watched this show fan subbed and absolutely loved it. I'm not a big "maid" fan, but this show is so much MORE than a "maid" anime. If you love things like Azumanga Daioh, K-On or other quirky slice of life shows, you will love this.
