Vanilla, Meal Replacement Protein Powder, 1.72 lb

I’ve tried a lot of protein powders over the years, and Designer Whey Vanilla is definitely one of the better ones. The vanilla flavor is clean and not overly sweet or artificial, which I appreciate—especially when mixing with just water or almond milk. It blends smoothly with no chalky aftertaste or gritty texture, which makes it great for quick shakes after a workout. One of the big pluses is that it’s low in sugar and calories, but still provides a good protein boost with 20g per serving. I also like that it includes a mix of whey concentrate and isolate, plus some added vitamins and minerals, making it feel like more than just plain protein. Overall, a solid, budget-friendly option for anyone looking to supplement their protein intake without unnecessary additives or weird flavors. I’ll definitely be buying it again!

Great product. I purchased it at least 26 times. My only issue is that the price is currently much higher than what I think it should be. Hope it comes down as this really is my first choice.

Designer Whey is easy for me to digest, and I appreciate the "full meal" additions of vitamins and minerals, which makes this supplement a more effective snack. I have the Vanilla flavor. As others have said, it's not very sweet. Regarding how to mix it: * Shake it enough and it comes up smooth. * Drink it with water only and it tastes chalky - not recommended. Adding some milk or juice brings up the quality of the taste very fast. I actually want something sweeter, so I had some milk to remove the chalkiness, and add sugar free Torani syrup as a flavored sweetener. Sometimes I add cinnamon or cocoa powder. I tend to choose vanilla flavoring, because it's easier to mix in with other flavors for variety. * Recovering from surgery, I do need the extra protein to regain muscle, and for me, this is an easy supplement to take.

We have been buying a small container of this brand at Trader Joe’s and going through it quickly. We wanted a larger container. This was larger and a better price. We like it because it’s easy on our stomachs, we are dairy sensitive, and it blends so well when we make smoothies. We usually get French vanilla and the vanilla bean is a slightly different flavor but still good and it seems like high quality.

I've been using this to make healthy shakes, so I add a lot of different fruits and veggies. That said, the flavor for this protein powder is strong. It overpowers the other ingredients I add. Good thing it tastes good, though. It makes my shakes taste like pumpkin pie when I add cinnamon. Otherwise, it tastes like birthday cake. It is slightly grainy, but that doesn't bother me. I've also noticed that a lot of the powder will settle at the bottom, so the last few gulps of smoothie taste different. Not bad, just not as flavorful as the rest of the drink. Overall I would say this is a good protein powder. By the way I only add one scoop to my drinks because I know two would be way too strong. The chocolate one doesn't taste as good. It doesn't have a lot of flavor and tastes cheap. When I make shakes with it, I can tell I'm drinking something "weird".

We normally love this product but I ordered it in the wrong flavor. We love it in French vanilla but hope to never get the vanilla bean again. It gets really 'chalky' especially by the last swallow. I kept thinking how could it have changed this much but then saw the flavor. Originally I had the correct flavor but when I switched to a smaller size the flavor changed. The company reached out to me which I appreciated. They offered a refund, but this was more my mistake than theirs. I honestly did not know how many different types of designer whey they have until I visited the store and started looking at the ingredients and what different products offer. This particular product offers the fiber and I assume that is from chia and quinoa seeds and oats. That is what gives it that grainy/chalky taste. If you are looking for extra fiber this is a great choice. It just isn't what I prefer, thus the 3 stars. The reason I love the French Vanilla product is that it is made with Stevia (I believe they all are) and that is one of the only artificial sweeteners I like. It is very hard for me to find a protein powder that I like. I originally discovered this years ago in a health store that no longer exists. I was excited to find I could order it on amazon. We mostly use the protein shake as a meal replacement. But sometimes I use it to add to food such as making protein balls. My rating for the company would be 5 stars and their variety in products 5 stars. I do recommend you look more closely than I did when ordering at the various products they offer, comparing the nutrition facts to meet your own needs.

Nov 9, 2023: After I wrote the previous review, which was nearly a year after purchase, the company reached out to me with genuine concern and an offer to refund. (!!) I agreed to try the French Vanilla they had available. I proceeded to use it as I would normally, the few different ways I consume protein powder. The first few times were weird because I was coming off the Vanilla Bean, and this one seemed to have a perfumey element. I knew this had to be absurd and that I needed to put more time between uses. So I left it alone a couple months. When I restarted use recently, my experience was restored to the way I recall and I am grateful. I really appreciate Design Protein's true customer service, and hopefully French Vanilla will be available when I need to re-up. Aug 5, 2023: When I was looking for French Vanilla, this Vanilla Bean was all that would come up. I bought it thinking that it can't be THAT different. But the powder is more ..well...powdery than the than the FV version that I was used to. The consistency is talc-y, where as the other was more granular. The taste is chalky, which previously the absence of that was my absolute favorite thing about this. This one is inclined to clump in yogurt, whereas the previous one was smooth. I recently saw a supposed French Vanilla 2lb zip pack, but I am afraid to buy it. I wish I understood the point of the changes. Finding a good protein powder isn't easy. I have to start the search all over again.

Product is chalky and does not taste like vanilla bean. It is pictured as a rich frothy drink yet it lacks here as well. Tastes like vanilla without sweetness. Good if mixed with something else but by itself not that good. Also not as filling as some other brands on the market.
