Q: Does this need to be calibrated? If so, how do you go about that?

I gave one to my grandson. As soon as he opened it, he started playing with it. It did not take him very long to figure out how to control this ball. There was no calibrating, he opened the box, and that thing was flying around the house.

Q: How much noise does it make?

I bought this ball for my grandson for Christmas. Before I wrapped it, I thought I would give it a try. First of all, the ball contains 2 propellers, one turning one way, and the other turning in the opposite direction. This is what makes the ball act the way it does. In the beginning, it may seem like it is hard to control. however with a small amount of patience, in time a child should be able to make the ball do whatever he/she wants. As far as noise is concerned, don't let it stop you from buying it. You can hear the two propellors turning, but they are not very loud. If you are buying it for a child, go ahead and buy it. Kids will love this thing.
