Good, Reliable Label Maker.
These are awesome label makers. It comes with an AC adapter, 1 x 18mm white tape, and 1 x 18mm yellow tape. I have two at work so I bought one for home! They are reliable and work for years. The tape lid is a little delicate, so be careful with is because it's just a plastic panel.Thanks.

Poor shipment
I’m sending his product back because it did not come in the original package. It was just wrapped in bubble wrap. It didn’t come with the AC adapter or the cartridge that the package said it was supposed to have with it.

Bottom line...it's good
This is my second Brother P-Touch labeler; the first died a premature death because it couldn't recognize fresh batteries. For that reason I specifically bought one that had AC capabilities. Just received the PT-1890SC today; thoroughly read the user guide; inserted the tape cartridge; plugged in the AC...and nothing. No power. I inserted six AA batteries and got power. Plugged in the AC (with batteries installed) and got power. Removed the batteries and plugged in the AC and it worked. Weird. I did a test run for a label using the smallest font, nothing fancy, and it worked great. My BIGGEST gripe is that there is a lot of mandatory leader tape and post font label tape for each label. For my test label it was about 1.5" of wasted label tape. I guess that just like our printers, the manufacturers improve their bottom line with replacement ink/toner/label tape. Screen visibility is pretty dismal; faint black on greenish/grey background. I went to the Brother FAQ and their response was consistently [in summary] that you have to make sure it's on a level work space. No back light settings are available. Fellow office workers: squint and hope for the best.I definitely appreciate all the font and spacing options available on this model though. Bottom line...it's good.

Easy set up. Easy to read instructions. Price is right.
I use it for personal reasons.

Not as nice as the old model.
There's nothing wrong with the way it works, it's just not nearly as nice as my old model (which I had to replace when it finally died). It might do as much as the old one, but the keyboard doesn't display the same functionality. For example, rather than have the symbol keys printed above the regular keys, and you hit Symbol to get to them, you now have to scroll through 12 pages of symbol menu choices to find the one you want. When you finish making your label and you want to clear it, there are extra keystrokes every time to ask you if you want to clear just the text or the text and the formatting. I don't know about most users, but I use the same formatting for 95% of the labels I print. How about if you just assume I'm only interested in clearing the text, and give me a way to clear the formatting on the rare occasion when I want to do that? And, this may be a personal thing, it's a little taller, so it doesn't fit in the same desk pullout that the old one fit in. Bottom line, while it's still completely functional, it's just not as simple to use as the older model, and if it does anything extra I haven't found it or needed it.

This labeler works okay, but I find it very complicated to use.
If you use this device frequently you’ll need to refer to the lengthy instructions every time. Operation is not very intuitive and I find myself avoiding using it because it's such a hassle. It also wastes a lot of expensive tape in normal use.
