Tween You & Me: A Preteen Guide to Becoming Your Best Self

Horrific. I will not give this to my tween struggling with self-image. The girl on the cover wasn’t noticeable to me when I purchased. But holding it now, I’m appalled. She has her chest and butt pushed out and her arm is the size of a broom handle. She is clearly promoting anorexia and trying to make starvation and malnutrition look appealing. On chapter 1, with an also unrealistic picture of a very thin girl with “perfect” model features, the exercise tells girls “look in a mirror and put yourself down. Think of yourself as weak, ugly, dumb, and not good enough…” Then the reader is prompted to look at herself again and build herself up and look how much better she looks. This is not a best practice, evidence based, and I’m at least aware enough that my daughter will be harmed with this Barbie garbage.

It was ok--mainly geared toward girls, just like almost every other book in this genre. Since I was shopping for a boy, and was not able to tell this was for girls from the title or from the information provided, I was not completely satisfied.

My daughter is 11 and she loves this book! She is able to relate to it and made ger feel more confident. Glad I bought it.

If you have a daughter and are considering buying this book....do it. It's great. There are affirmations and advice for every situation she may encounter during preteen years.

Great read for young girls entering into puberty. Sometimes reading about what their own bodies are going through helps them to understand better and it's not as awkward talking to mom.

Gave this to my granddaughter for her birthday.

Its a great book. I'm 30 and even I enjoyed it!

Really accessable information. Easy to read and not condescending. Full of wisdom. Wish I had this book when I was a tween.

Considering Amazon states this was delivered in May, but it was never recd. I have finally had an email to state it has been returned undeliverable back to them. Either way, this deliver was never made despite the systems showingOtherwise. Be warned.
