Acme 4860 Nightingale Whistle

Pretty cool little whistle. I got it cause I live in a mountain town with tons of birds and after learning how to use it (which took some time) I’m getting attention from all the little birdies. Exactly what I wanted lol I have lots of practice to do cause I feel like I’m making distress calls only but idk, the birds are coming around and chirping back. Goal achieved lol

I got this whistle because it sounded different and realistic bird call. I didn't expect that the sparrows in the backyard would come down and landed close by and watch me play with the whistle. I just hope that the neighbors won't get irritated by me blowing this thing all the time. The instructions were horrible and way off. It took a long time to get this to sound nice. Here's what worked for me. I used a plastic pipet to fill the water. Instead of filling with only 1/4, I'd fill it at least 1/3 with water. When I cover up the whistle hole and blow in it and can hear the bubbles, I know that I have enough water. Instead of leaving the rubber grommet and screw off, I'd put it on but loosely; this gave it louder and more consistent calls. It tends to have a consistent nice effect if I tilt it and hold it at about 45 degrees instead of upright. This tends to get it to create the Nightingale call instead of just a whistle. I noticed that I didn't have to blow as hard when holding at 45 degrees. It's fun to use. You need to practice a bit to get it to warble. The sound effect depends on the water level in the reservoir. It's a little tricky to get the correct water level to maintain the sound. This is not very loud, which is fine with me.

I don't know what the difference is, but I fiddled with this the first day I got it for half an hour without being able to make it warble. Too much water? Too little water? Blow harder/softer? No clue.A month or so later (now), I played with it again. Didn't change the water level. It works great.There's no way to tell how much water is in it - that's probably magic, and you have to blow HARD.So be prepared to experiment. Now that it works I'm much happier.

Acme makes some beautiful whistles. I wish they would have included some instructions. I'll get it right though.Moments later, Got it . There is instructions on the back of the package.a little vague but instructions none the less. You may want to have a small syringe to put the same amount of water in each time for a consistent sound. The screw and stopper should have NO problem keeping the water contained. Great whistles.

Poor product. No clear way to control the bird sounds. The enclosed instructions had nothing to do with the product shipped.

Schnelle, gut verpackte Lieferung.Ausgepackt, die saubere wertige Ausführung bewundernd, habe ich die Schutzkappe abgenommen, die Schraube an der Seite aufgedreht ( wobei der Dichtungsring abfiel, den ich deshalb nachher mit Patex an die Schraube geklebt habe), und los ging es. Die Pfeife ist laut, man sollte im Keller üben. Ist die Schraube fest zugedreht, gibt es nur einen schrillen Pfeifton, löst man sie 3 - 4 Umdrehungen kann man mit der Zunge und unterschiedlicher Luftstärke zweistimmige Töne ind Trillerfrequenzen erreichen. Üben lohnt sich. Aber : die einheimische Amsel ist verschwunden - wegen Konkurrenz oder aus Empörung?!?

Ho impiegato un'ora per capire che per funzionare bisognava mettere l'acqua nel serbatoio...Ottimo strumento, emette suoni molto forti ma prezzo eccessivo.

This item does not.work properly or flow right, I have used them for years, plus the black rubber washer is too loose.
