Great value for the money
I got these for the bedroom TV, they seemed a good size for this room,. I already have a nice 8" sub to pair them with, and it is highly recommended that you get some kind of sub for this speaker, more power is diverted above 120 Hz and the speakers will open up a bit and it takes some strain off the Class D amps which can get a bit warm on these.Tonality is good on the Vanatoo, clear, decent amount of detail, treble is bit smoothed over and forgiving, but you lose nothing here. You are getting a chillax speaker with possibly softer, less in-your-face dynamics than something like a Klipsch. They are very forgiving of source, and image exceptionally well for a $350 speaker, I would say a good step up from the Audio engine A5 in this department which is high praise. They also sound very natural, especially vocals. They do sound a bit compressed in the lower midrange, but i have been told they improve here when you disable the limiter which prevents damage to the bass driver if turned up too loud. but again, if you have a sub, this should not be a problem. This is really my only complaint. The best use would be on your desk, I found these image exceptionally well when listening to them as nearfields, but they would also make a welcome speaker for a budget 2,.1 system in a small to medium living room or master bedroom. They sound much bigger than they look.I guess I do not need to tell you about the features or what they look like, you can get that from Amazon. But they have plenty. If you have $350 budget to spend on a powered monitor, and intend to use on a desk or small to medium room, this is a no-brainer, get the Vanatoo T0.***updateI disabled the limiters and this made a huge difference in the sound quality. Simply unplug the main speaker, set the volume knob between the 2dots and 3 dots, hold the Bluetooth pair button, then plug the speaker back in, and it should flash 3 times to acknowledge that the new setting has been accepted.here is a link to the owner's manual further explaining this process.https://vanatoo.com/uploads/pdf/vanatoo-transparent-zero---manual---rev-1.0.pdfTreble performance is better extended and there is less bloat and congestion in the lower midrange and upper bass region. They also seem less harsh in the upper midrange, a bit shouty on some tracks. I have C&P'd an EQ profile from an audio science review that will fix this, and give these much more balanced and enjoyable tuning while giving more body to guitars and male vocals. This makes a big difference, I can not listen to these without EQ now, the difference is that profound., thanks to amirm from ASR.https://www.audiosciencereview.com/forum/index.php?threads/vanatoo-transparent-zero-speaker-review.13717/730 hz -2 db Q 4.01000 hz -1.0 db Q 4.05200 hz -4.8db Q117000hz -5 db Q1Now you have a perfectly balanced speaker that will not offend in the upper midrange while adding warmth and body guitars and male vocals. They sounded thin to me without, but still an enjoyable speaker. But do yourself a huge favor if you own the T0 and get some digital EQ software. IF you are just using these for television and movies, this is not as necessary,.

Vanatoo over delivered. Magic in a box.
Ok first a bit where im coming from. Im from scandinavia. Building my own speaker towers full of scanspeak and seas units of their highest quality. Massive amplifiers bigger than myself. Heck I even rearranged my whole living room just for the sound.Im used to High End sound. Sold it all around 2000 and went travelling never to come back. Now I have been settled in south america for a few years and started missing good sound. Good luck finding that here for normal prices. So with that said after much research I ended up ordering these little speakers with a subconscious hope that they will deliver what I had before. ( I was not aware I had this expectation until they arrived).Consciously I was aware this size this price has its limitations but was hoping for at least sound I can enjoy.Im not going to even mention what kind of emotions I went through listening to them BEFORE they where "played in" as they do NOT sound great out of the box. So please do NOT judge these speakers at first listen. They WILL open up.Now that they are opened up here is what I wish to share:My subconscious unrealistic desire to listen to a 359usd small speaker that can deliver the same as back in the old days with a 50.000usd music system off course was not met. As soon as I turned my analytical ears on(they have been off since I sold my system back home just not to torture myself while travelling). These are not HighEnd off course. But pretty damn close I would say. Much has happened while I was "gone".A lot.......Im able to enjoy Jazz and Blues again. THANK YOU Vanatoo. You guys LOVE music its obvious.Im writing this review while playing music. I usually cant do that as it interferes too much. These do not. They are velvet soft and gentle. Smooth and easy to listen to. Non invasive. Yet very powerful. The bass:Its powerful. Deep. Very very crisp and clear. Acoustic instruments are delivered very clear.I have never heard any small speakers this size or 2x this size play like this. A lot of thought went into these.I did have a sub hooked up to test and see the difference. The only one I have is M-Audio Sbx-10 and its huge. way too big for this room and these speakers here. I ended up unplugging it after just 1 hour of trying to make them love each other. There is plenty of bass in these little buggers im missing nothing. My stuff on the desk is jumping around when I turn up the volume with dance music. yes no distortions what so ever. at any volume with any music.Mid tone: Voices are crisp and clear. warm. The sound stage is very VERY impressive. I can see where all instruments are places. If voice is centered you CANT hear the speakers on the side. She/he really IS singing right there in the center. If blindfolded I swear she is right there in the center. You cant hear where the speakers are placed. Only where the music is supposed to come from in the sound image. Im very impressed with this. Play around with placement. and you listening position. You will be surprised how big a difference it makes.High tone: Out of the box very muffled. Even now when played in I still amp up on the treble. But once you do.... it opens up. If you dont your listening to a box. I guess its all relative to what you like and prefer but to me its obvious. The treble never gets sharp to the ears. Very comfy. Even at high volume.Others: I love the connectivity. SO many options. you can program them in many ways. Build quality is awesome. These are made to last. The amplifier is doing a great great job.I would not use these to play for a whole large room if you expect high end reality. They open up very well when your close. Not from a distance. Also placement really matters with these. But hey come on..... these are SMALL speakers. We got to be realistic. They play better than anyone could hope for at this size. Even at 2-3x this size. For this price your getting a LOT of speaker. Im still shocked how much considering their size.I play via Audirvana plus software from my macbook pro. Using Audioquest usb cable with 2x jitterbug attached to my 2 usb ports. Only Flac quality. And hooked the Macbook to a good UPS to make sure things are clean and protected. Its a easy fast installation bypassing amplifiers, DACs and expensive cables. I was looking at SWAN M200MKIII for same price. I suspect they would sound even better. But they are bigger and I got little room here by my desk. Plus I would need a DAC for around 200 usd to do them justice. And speaker cables. So all in all im very happy with these Vanatoo. If your just looking for desktop speakers these will overdeliver 10 fold.UPDATE:These are now really played in and keep on giving me plenty of musical experiences. They seem to be playing anything you throw at them real well. Dance music, Acoustics, Voices, jazz, blues, Psytrance etc.The Vanatoo crew made a winner here. Whatever is on your desk right now if you paid less than 500 usd for it sell it and get these. They beat them all. Period.UPDATE:As time goes on im getting more and more impressed with these. I cant praise these enough. Here is why:They are so small you forget about them. The USB setup shuts them down by themselves. no on off reality. they just sit there. You surf the web. do stuff. watch a youtube video etc. day goes by..... suddenly you find a good song and BINGO you realize you got EPIC sound at your fingertip without realizing it.Another amazing thing it the sound image is insanely clear so if the voice IS in the middle..... its IN the middle. You literally hear the voice coming from the center of your screen not the speakers on the side. They are not there. I swear I can't hear WHERE they stand on the desk as they deliver the sound scene wherever its recorded to be. Vanatoo makes it clear this is about MUSIC not speakers. They slide into the backgroud doing their job, and doing it WELL.

Hard to beat for the money and size - maybe impossible
I thought I was happy with my Audio Engine A2's (OG) AND my Samson Rubicon R5A ribbon monitor studio monitors + 10'' Rubicon sub for a good 5-10 years. The A2's had too much of a ''frequency gap'' when adding the 10'' sub to the mix and they also didn't have a dedicated sub out for adequate crossover. The Rubicons were incredibly revealing and flat but they lacked a bit of musicality and bottom without the matching sub (as designed since they are studio monitors)... I would generally use the A2's for casual music listening and the Rubicons for critical listening / mixing in my home studio.Anyways, I discovered these Vanatoos on a discussion forum where someone replaced their A2's with them and I decided to take the plunge. Boy was I happy I did and impressed... These Zeros ended up replacing BOTH my A2's AND 2.1 Rubicons!!! They take care of BOTH just enjoyable music listening and mixing. Keep in mind I'm not recommending that these be bought for a professional recording studio, but for a home studio recording demos or doing basic audio editing, these Zeros are good enough for that.At first, I didn't feel like I needed a sub and maybe 50% of people won't feel they need one but my musical tastes changed a bit and so I bought a small Cambridge Minx 201 on the used market about 9 months later. It filled in the bottom end I grew to desire very nicely and I don't know of a smaller, better performing subwoofer. Apparently, you're best choosing a sub that's 2-4'' bigger than your biggest speaker woofer because going bigger can potentially lead to unbalanced sound (like I had with my A2's and Rubicon R10s). I also don't want or need to shake my house from my WFH desk as I have other systems for that anyways... Finally, I didn't want to spend a fortune on an end-game sub but still wanted a relatively good one. The best part is that it's been almost 1.5 years and my wife has NEVER noticed the subwoofer lol...I even contacted Vanatoo and the actual engineer/designers replied to me personally regarding my praise and the brief discussion I looked to have about them. They have really thought of everything a small speaker like this could do and it sounds bigger than its small size. I can't think of a speaker this size or at this price that's better and I do know the market quite well... Most audio review websites only discuss more mainstream brands and models... I feel that if they knew about Vanatoo, they would clearly be top choices but maybe there are also other reasons certain sites would not mention them (like biased opinions?).After two years of drooling over my sister's Kef LS50's - even if I have Kef iQ7's in my living room - I end up seeing some used Kef LSX's in brand new condition for a rather silly price and decided to try them out since I could always resell for the amount paid or more... Well, after much comparison, my Zeros have finally been bested, but what do you expect from a considerably bigger and much more expensive pair of speakers... The wireless possibilities, Airplay 2 and mobile app features are also nice factors. I have Airplay devices on three floors and 5 rooms in my house so I'm already rather invested in this fine ecosystem. If I wasn't, maybe it would have slightly less justified holding on to the LSX's. It's rather unfair to compare the Zeros to LSX's but it goes to show at what level it's necessary to go for them to be bested - and again, by speakers that are considerably bigger and more expensive... but isn't that the nature of the audiophile rabbit hole? Diminishing returns on a certain level? Not that I regret my LSX purchase...What the LSX's do sonically over the Zeros is bigger soundstage, better imaging and a warmer tuning that still provides better details and a bigger sweet spot. They also fill up my basement with pleasing sound better than the Zeros could, are less directional yet quite stylish... What I love is that I could even take the slave LSX and place it anywhere else in my room and connect the two speakers wirelessly instead of with a CAT6 cable like the Zeros... This way, I could even better listen to them from my basement couch off to the side of my WFH desk instead of sitting at my WFH chair. The Zeros have plenty of ''magic'' to them and I've had many exceptional listening experiences with them but I already know that the LSX's will simply provide more of these experiences on an even higher level... The Kef app also also allows easier and better tuning options + multiple sound profiles... Albeit, the Zero's programming options are also rather impressive and useful.Even after my LSX purchase and replacing my Zeros with them, I won't be attempting to sell the Zeros just yet... Back in their box they will go and maybe one day one of my kids will use them or who knows... If I do decide to sell them, I'd likely sit on my asking price and be rather patient in letting them go.All this being said, if you're hesitating on pulling the trigger on these, don't. These Zeros are less known than bigger brands like Sonos, Kef, etc. but at the top of their class... They also have a return policy, if ever... If you have the space and money, consider the T-Ones and/or a subwoofer if you want more low end but for the size, money and for near-field desktop use or even bookshelf use in a small room, these Zeros are exceptional.

Versatile, flat, small and stylish. All around good.
I bought these to replace the Audioengine A2+ (With NA's EQ) at my computer. What the A2 could do, it did well, but these do the same and cover most of the spectrum.+It plays with enough punch to 50~hz, and using a tone generator seems to cut off around 40hz.+They sound good and flat, and reveal some details in songs I've never heard before. Example: a song with background talking at the start was smothered by the A2, but now I could make out everything. Before they were just 'voices'.+No, really. These do sound good.+Nice looking white woofer, and look in general, if you care.+Included accessories are nice, versatility in general like the natural shape of the speakers, bluetooth connectivity etc.-Digital only, sort of. Analog signals (probably from your own DAC) are all reconverted to digital (at 48/24) then back to analog, again. Not much of a point in analog inputs, even though I cant tell the difference. I still prefer to cut down on conversion and used the USB cable provided.-No proper RCA inputs even though it doesn't matter-You have to do the stupid secret handshake to set up special settings. You'll probably only do it once, but there had to be some other way for them to do it.For the price I think these are pretty great, I was unsure at first but not anymore. Some people dislike the phrase "for the price", but in this case I don't think you're settling for less. Its also best to use them on their stands, Flat EQ with limiters disabled.

so far so good
Dec. 26, 2018I am just an ordinary user who would like to pay CAD $250-500 for small form factor active bookshelf speakers, near hearing (around 70-110cm) desktop speaker 3" or 4" for classical musical, voice and movies with decent sound quality, USB connection must have, blue tooth is a better extra, hoping best sound quality as well as possible, focusing on voice and treble, bass is not much important to me.Need a significant upgrade from my 10 years old Hivi S3 3" computer speaker which cost less than $50 connected with Creative Sound blaster USB, this combo was not bad, specially good at voice and treble. My goal was AudioEngine HD3 while A2+ skipped for long term consideration, certainly made a lot of searching, Vanatoo T0 enlisted for good reviews and wanted USB, both seem good enough, all depends on price of Black Friday. Then I pulled trigger for AudioEngine HD3 when price came down to $385, but for the first time, I never received it though courier website showed delivered, then I just realized the risk for online shopping, in such situation, you got no protection. I filed police report per Amazon's request, hassled with Amazon again and again, then weeks later I finally got refund from Amazon, thanks for someone in service center finally noticed that the delivered address was not mine, Amazon's reputation is still decent though it is getting into way of too big and too arrogant. In Dec., on one day of ebates 12% cash back and Vanatoo T0 's price came down to $419, I pulled trigger again then I am enjoying it now.Pro of Vanatoo T0:. good and smart body design with declining direction, for AudioEngine HD3 you have to pay extra for the declining stand which not a good idea as bad as Apple, seems little greedy making me uncomfortable feeling. I am not an expert, just FYI, good sound quality I could accept, especially got field feeling in hearing symphony and movies, well in violin and piano, either concerto and sonata, voice is really good like singer standing front of me with much more voice details. rubber feeling pads are including in kit, to avoid noise from trembling, small thought but thoughtful. remote control. seems good technology with RJ50 speaker interconnect cable. all cables included, runs out of box. USB and blue tooth connection

Stop torturing yourself and just click
Got them today after one year of soul searching, reading all reviews, watching Zeos and Joshua V. rave about them, and attempting to optimize the bang for my buck. In the states at 350 USD$ it's a no brainer I say, in Canada it's more annoying at 475$. But okay fine, after my wife walked in my office and derisively stated my PreSonus E3.5 (150 CAD) lacked bass, I clicked.I use a JDS Labs Element II as preamp and am using the analog input to the Vanatoo. I will test the other inputs in due time. Are they 3x times better than the PreSonus in terms of sound? No. But the feature set is awesome, build quality is spectacular, sound quality is really good details are plentiful, that passive radiator really works, the stereo image is perfect as far as I can tell, the bass is more than enough for my small 100 sqft office, my desk vibrates I might need to add silicon insulators. They are a touch brighter than my PreSonus but they might need burn in, I will see I'm not an expert.Very positive experience for me on the desk, I can ascertain you will not be disappointed either.

Awesome looking desk speakers for computer and console
I have been looking at these speakers for quite a while and when they finally came back in stock I had to order them. They are the perfect size speaker for beside a 27 inch computer monitor and the bass can vibrate the desk even when set to low volume if you adjust the settings.I have sensitive hearing and had to return some edifier speakers because of hiss when powered on with no audio source (even when connected but not playing). It turns out it is a problem with my hearing and Class D amplifiers. The Vanatoo speakers also have the same hiss and after about 30 minutes I had a headache and had to call to arrange a return.
