🚀 Compact power, silent security — your network’s new best friend!
The Qotom-Q355G4 Mini PC features an Intel Core i5-5200U dual-core processor with AES-NI support, 4 Gigabit Ethernet LAN ports, and a fanless design for silent operation. This barebone system allows full customization of RAM, storage, and OS, making it an ideal compact solution for advanced network applications like Pfsense routers, firewalls, VPNs, and proxy servers.

Seems a solid device. Set this up as a firewall, with the ability to run other VMs with vmware ESXi. The Wifi module is not supported by ESXi or pfsense... but that said, ESXi installs and runs fine. I haven't been able to get SR-IOV working (probably a lack of support in the hypervisor), but performace seems good despite that. The ethernet devices aren't in the order you would expect, but its easy enough to figure out. I set mine to run in an energy efficient mode via BIOS settings, as I thought the heat sink was warmer than I'd like.-1 star because resetting the BIOS is a huge pain. I somehow broke the integrated graphics trying to do hardware pass-through. You have to totally disassemble the unit and separate the main board/heatsink from the adhesive thermal pad to access the CMOS battery. Unplug that and short the pins a for while.

Everything seems to be working good. Bought an 8GB stick of DDR3L memory and an MSATA drive and Pfsense installed like the champ. I should mention before installing Pfsense I did put the CPU and memory through some burn in testing. I deducted one star for the heat level the unit puts out during the test (under full load). I've read some people installing a fan in other forums? But I don't imagine my unit doing a full load often (only for encrypted VPN connections).

Great FW/Router/VPN Box
Got it this week, plugged in a 250GB mSata Samsung and I had 16GB DDR3L laying around (the i5-5xxx has a 16GB limit, so I tried it and worked with no issues) and installed pfsense...and I'm probably overkill for any sized household :) Mine actually came with the lasted bios (6/2018) and the port assignment are accurate now. So would suggest updating the bios (google "Qotom bios" and you'll get directions). Only concerns are the temps due to the passive cooling, but I had some artic-5 silver laying around and added it to the chipset/heatsink and I'm around 37-39 degrees C during normal activity (OpenVPN (AES-NI enabled), std FW/NAT/Routing rules, UPnP (for synology)).

Works fine. Silent and keeps itself quite cool
Bought it for a firewall/net security device. Works fine. Silent and keeps itself quite cool. I might by this again for another project.

Works exactly as described. The nic port addresses and numbering do not match sequentially, but not hard to figure out. Wifi card may not work with PFSense.

Running strong for months now
No issues with it at all.

Appears well made and works great!
After installing an mSATA drive and compatible memory, it worked like a champ.
