Alright, but a noisy little thing.
I do think this is a reasonably decent device for what it does. I didn't really buy it for the lighting, that's somewhat superfluous, but it does seem to push air well, which is the main thing. There are a couple problems however.First off, the install program is ENTIRELY in Chinese. There does not seem to be an English option, so I somewhat fumbled my way through the install process. Heads up, the options that have (N) are apparently yes.Once installed, the program resolves in English just fine. So far, it seems to operate fine, turns on and off with the laptop, etc. Out of curiosity more than anything else I checked the lighting options... for those who find that important, I'm sure they'll find the lighting to be good. In actuality, they seem more vivid than the integrated lighting for the laptop it's made for.The second and last issue is that the thing is LOUD! Even at standard workload, it's a significant hum in the background... and if you bump that up to full 'I'm running heavy 3d programming' airflow, it's loud to the point of being really annoying. So, if you're gaming and using this thing, I hope you use headphones. Otherwise the whir will be quite a distraction to your audio experience.

It's easy enough to fumble through but a bit more difficult ...
4 stars and not 5 because of a few issues (not major). As a previous reviewer stated, there is no English option for the install. It's easy enough to fumble through but a bit more difficult if you want to add any of the utilities to the program. Color scheme is in no way as programmable as your alienware which I guess doesn't matter since it's in the back and you'll never see the lights anyway. Fans are loud, the far right fan in particular on mine. If I increase the speed slowly I can get it up to about 75% before it sounds like it is going to spin out of the frame. I use this with a 17 r4 and if you get one even this pad won't help unless you re-paste the cpu & gpu and make sure heat pads are making proper contact (Alienware messed up on the factory production of these models so unless you get extremely lucky you need post-purchase work no matter what). That being said: - If you use this for gaming you'll be wearing headphones and the fans won't be noticeable - Compact and fits the laptop perfectly - Separate power supply (17 r4 only has 2 usb ports) - Once installed the program is as simple to use as anything can beUpdate: Forgot to plug in fans after rearranging my setup and within half an hour my system overheated. I'm currently overclocking to 4.0 GHz. With the fans I've had no problems even after hours of games like PUBG and H1Z1.
