I've used derma-rollers and micro needles similar to this in the past. What I first noticed about the Bosley micro-roller is that the micro needles are much shorter than the rollers I already have. See my uploaded picture for a comparison. This minimizes any discomfort as well as how deep the needles can penetrate. You ideally want them to penetrate just the top layer of your scalp and the Bosley roller does just that without risk of going too deep. The grip on the Bosley roller makes it easy to maneuver and useI use this with generic minoxidil. The generic Kirkland brand from Costco is what I found to be the best value. For my specific use case, my goal isn't so much to grow new hair as it is to minimize my receding hairline. I find that using this micro-roller once or twice a week works best for me. I have been using minoxidil for about 7 years in conjunction with rollers. My hairline has not receded much compared to 7 years ago when I was in my early 40s.For beginners, my (non-medical) advice is to take it easy at first. More pain doesn't necessarily mean more gain. Feel it out at first and apply more pressure as you get used to feel of the roller.I can't speak to the effectiveness of the included two bottles of follicle energizer liquid as I only use Minoxidil. I can say that it has ingredients that I'm familiar with for promoting healthy hair and that are in the shampoos I use.My only minor complaint is the cover for the roller head. It's not to easy to open and I always worry about breaking it when I open it.

This really works! It takes a couple months to notice a difference, so it does take some diligence! The set is easy to use and I didn’t notice any uncomfortable side effects.
