BEST THING THAT HAPPENED TO MY KIDS FOR LUNCH TIME
I am so glad that I bought this thermal. I loved it so much that I bought 4 of them! And I’ll probably buy more. I tested how long this thermal kept warm by adding boiling water to the thermal and close it. I checked on it 3 times within a 24 hours period. After 6 hours, the water was still hot and steaming. After 12 hours the water was still a good hot temperature but not burning to the touch. But definitely hot. And then after 24 hours the water was no longer steaming or hot but Luke warm.My kid’s school do not have hot lunch services. We have to pack our kids a lunch. They do have a microwave but the lines for the microwave is so long. By the time my kids are able to heat up their foods, time is up for lunch. So I bought these thermals so that I can prepare hot meals for my kids. And 9/10 times, the meals that I have packaged for my kids are still yummy hot when they open the containers for lunch 4-5 hours after I packaged them. These thermals are NOT microwave safe! They wash very easily by hand or in the dishwasher.Someone from another review recommended that we fill the container up with boiling water first, close it, leave the water for 5-10min, dump the hot water out, then add your hot foods to the container. Don’t forget to push down on the middle button on the lid for a good seal. If you don’t do this, your top might pop off if it is tipped on the side or upside down. I had to learn this the hard way.At first I thought that the price was expensive for the product. But after using the product for several months now, it is worth every penny. I have bought more since. This would be great for road trips and picnics too, not just to pack lunches.Works for cold foods too. But my kids like hot foods so I mostly make only hot foods to put in the container.

Almost perfect! (Do not over tighten!)
I finally found the perfect portion-size I love the brushed stainless finish. It's well-built and feels that way. Had to take a star away, because the lid is hard to remove sometimes, despite the release button. I found that there is a "sweet spot" that if you snug it closed gently, it will not leak and the release button works. But if you cinch it closed firmly, it might be hard to unscrew - even with the release button. With practice I've all but eliminated that problem. I like the way the lid is flush with the top, and has a handy handle.

The media could not be loaded. Edit: I was trying to get water out that was stuck inside the lid and clean it thoroughly, so I took off small gasket that covers the button inside the lid. Not only can I NOT get rid of the water, but now I can’t get the tiny gasket back on. I’m so disappointed!PRO: Bowl shaped and keeps food hot.CON: Lid takes on water, has to be aligned perfectly, and the smaller gasket can’t be removed for cleaning because it’s impossible to get back on.Final verdict: Don’t buy! I was able to find a taller, thinner food jar that I DO like. Look up the Japanese brand that starts with the letter Z, and has a baby elephant as it’s logo. I love their rice cookers, so I took a chance and MUCH prefer the Japanese product.ORIGINAL review: I’m so glad I discovered a “HACK” to getting the lid closed properly. I almost gave it a bad review because the lid kept getting stuck CLOSED. I can’t send my kids to school with a lunch they can’t open! It turns out if you find the spot on the lid that has no threads, and line it up with the spot on the container where the seam is, then screw the top on very carefully and evenly you will hear/feel it “click” into place. This means you’ve got it right! Unfortunately, it was a learning curve to figure this out. Now it doesn’t leak, and can be opened easily by kids! I wish it were a little more foolproof, but at least now that I know the trick it works perfectly as advertised, as long as it’s not overfilled. I had to learn this the hard way too, STOP at the max fill line!

great, just wish it were smaller
I got this for my 4th grader's lunchbox and it works great - keeps food warm without any extra effort (no need to 'prime' the thermos with hot water), easy for her to open and close, and very easy to clean. The last is important since I'm washing it by hand every day to get it ready for the next day! The material is very nonstick, the threads to screw in the lid are sufficiently far apart, and there's not crevices or nooks and crannies to make cleaning a pain.I do wish it was smaller, because I'm using not even 1/10th the volume of this thing. It is nice that it's big for full meals - you could put a full serving of soup or warmed-up leftovers in here - but I only need it for something small. It fits in my daughter's PackIt lunchbox but just barely, and it likely wouldn't fit in most (any?) hard-sided lunchboxes. If they come out with a smaller size, I'd buy it in a heartbeat.
