Make sure you receive the right version!
NEW ORDER - DIFFERENT VERSIONAs per my initial review below I have now received my new gotcha which is entirely different from my first. Be sure to recognise the version you have received as one will work far better than the other. I believe anyone having trouble with their order probably has the dud version.Wrist band - The first gotcha I received was with a white band, this was far too flimsy and the hole was too big for the device to sit comfortably. I have since received the officially advertised band in the geometric white, black and red which feels more firm and durable (despite a little less aesthetically pleasing) The hole for the device to sit in is also considerably slimmer and means the device stays in place.Device - the device is now almost entirely different. The gold prongs are more pronounced so they can reach the charging points in the charger with no issue. The red ‘o’ is also significantly bolder and more red. And most importantly the device it’s self has a ridge around the edge which enables it to sit in the wrist band securely at all times, the first device I received did not have this indented edge and caused the device to pop out as it was too streamlined. If you have received the ‘prototype’ version I’d say, get this returned for the correct Gotcha, I have changed my four stars to five as this is now the perfect device I should have received the first time round.Yes this auto spins gyms and stops and yes this auto catches (turn on all the options on the gotcha (except vibrate) and then you can manage whether you want to turn off auto spin/catch in game.-ORIGINAL REVIEW-Since the iOS 11 update I’ve ditched my PoGo Plus for the gotcha. This is an incredibly handy piece of kit and works a charm.Set up was a little confusing only because the instructions don't tell you how to set up rather just a legend for the animations. You lightly press the red 'o' to switch on and press again to cycle through the options - spin stop, catch pokemon, catch new pokemon, vibrate etc. A tick means the option is active, a cross means it is not - simple enough. To change the option on or off simply press and hold the red 'o' this will change your cross to a tick and vice versa. I'd recommend turning off the vibrate, it's not needed and will prolong battery life. Everything else just keep turned on, you can disable stops or mons via the app its self if you need to. Just like the PoGo plus it only uses your red poke balls and prioritises pokemon over stops so keep this is mind if you're low on stock.I've had a few problems where it hasn't recognised pokemon or stops pop up right next to me but 9/10 it works a treat. It definitely stays connected longer than the PoGo Plus, I use this religiously and I don't think I've had a time where I've needed to reconnect it.There is however an ongoing problem with the style and design of this item and is hence and 4 stars:- I received the plain white band which is comfortable and fits well, however as many people have said, the device sometimes likes to pop out on its own accord as there's nothing really to hold it in place securely. I would just advise to remember to take a look at your wrist from time to time if you're out and about. Or as I've more recently been thinking to apply a little piece of tape across if i'm out for a long day.- The prongs are a little too shallow and you have to do some serious manoeuvring in order to get this thing to charge. Since purchase 22/09/17 (I write this today 16/10/17) my device has never been able to charge and after just under a month finally ran out of juice. Upon doing some research there is supposed to be a charging animation but I have never seen this. Many people have said they have carved out part of the device to make it fit better in the charging port but I've not seen any videos to show how this is done correctly.I have actually returned my gotcha but fully intend to buy a new one as soon as possible. I believe the charging issue is something I will just need to look into and practice.

Nice alternative to the official device.
Ok, I succumbed and bought one of these in preference to the Pokemon Go Plus device as:1) We already have a couple of these that the boys use.2) The feature of being able to automatically catch pokemon and collect pokestops without having to press a button, or look at the phone (ie it stays in the pocket) is useful when moving round town, going out for the evening, etc.3) You can turn the vibrate off!Instructions are found on the manufacturer's website in a pdf that can be downloaded to the phone, useful until you get used to the different symbols and the fact that most are switcheable! How does it compare to the real device? Very well.I often end up with my boys' phones as well as my own (when they're in school!), and now 3 'plus' devices! Big hands/pockets required, especially when the external battery is there as well for those extended hunts! In terms of maintaining connection with the phone, I haven't found any real difference to that of the real 'plus'. This comparison has been done with 3 phones, 2 tethered to the main one via hotspot to use the same cellular network. Connection only becomes problematic if you lose 3G/4G signal for an extended period of time, e.g in a 'dead' zone; or when the Niantic servers aren't responding in good time (spinning orb top left). For both brands of device, I've had to toggle bluetooth on the phone to reestablish connection (or when it doesn't seem to recognise that you're standing on top of a 'mon or 'stop), delete and re-pair the devices in phone settings as they refuse to connect, or in the case of the real ones, a hard reset of the device by holding the button down until the blue light flashes, then again until it flashes white, and re-pair. I can only conclude that it's the app or phone's bluetooth software having an issue rather than the 'plus' or 'go-tcha' device itself, as it's not specific to one or the other.Only reason I initially deducted one star is because the strap doesn't look cool, and only just fits round my wrist! Having asked on here about alternatives, I had a response just as I finished writing this review. Apparently the Xiaomi MiBand V1 straps are the same, and alternatives are available on that well known auction site; from which I've ordered a couple in different colours. The V2 ones are not suitable. As a result , at the moment, I carry the device in my coin pocket as it only measures 36mm x 14mm x 10mm : just don't forget which pocket it's in!Update: the replacement straps are as per the original, size wise, but look way 'cooler' on the wrist!Battery: I've just managed to flatten the battery for the first time, when I forgot to put it on charge at the end of the day. As it wasn't paired to the phone at the time, I didn't see the low battery warning symbol appear next to the plus symbol top right, which has just happened to one of the others! In terms of battery life, it'll easily last, for me, 3 days or so, without recharge, but of course will depend on how much time you spend playing the game per day, and such things as whether the vibrate function is on or off (off on mine, so no motor to power!)2018: yet another update! Since the change last year by Niantic that stopped the autocatch from working, both Datel and Niantic have released updates: Datel for the firmware (for Apple iPhones only) and Niantic for the game. The ability to autocatch works again! Datel now have the app and ability to update the firmware should it need it in the future; but as the Android did not suffer this problem, I can't see there being too many changes for features as there is no go-tcha app on the Google Play store.
