KONG Extreme Goodie Bone, For Medium Dogs, Black

Other toys I’ve bought last less than 5 minutes as my 9 month old dog is a huge chewer. This is the only one that’s lasted! I’ve tried other Kong branded toys which she’s chewed through straight away but this one (along with the classic Kong toy) is still going strong and she loves it!

My dog, bless him, is a chewer. He's destroyed loads of toys in the past, because he seems to like taking them apart. We were getting quite tired of buying him nice toys and then seeing them in pieces on the rug about ten minutes after giving them to him. And then we found this Kong bone. They're amazing. He's a cross between a Staffie and a Lab, so he's got the strong jaws and the appetite to match his genes! But he took ages - months - to even break one bit off one of these. Interestingly, we've never used them for their intended purpose - to put treats in the ends. He's happy enough lying on the floor squelching the ends together in his mouth (and filling them with slobber and licking it back out again, to ensure we're sufficiently grossed out). It's great to see him perfectly happy, creating little creaking squeaky sounds as he squeezes it together. It seems like it's quite therapeutic to him. I'm not sure if he just doesn't want to break it because he likes the squeezing sensation or if he physically can't break it (which would surprise me given his track record of previous toys, sticks etc), but either way, one of these will last him a good six months, during which he'll lie and chew it for a good few hours a day. When he finally did break an end off from his current one, he was still perfectly happy just to focus on the other end instead. To give a better idea, he was given this just before Christmas and it's still got one squeezy end left! I can't speak for other dogs, perhaps I'm naive to how destructive others can be, but I know what mine is capable of, and taking that into consideration, this product is brilliant!

I comes wrapped in strong card with a very thick plastic tie attaching everything together. It took a pair of sharp scissors and a bit of perseverance to get the bone free. Once it was free I was pleased how well small milk biscuit bones and dental chews fit inside the holes at each end. The tight fit made it really hard for my dog to get to her goodies. She soon learnt to bash it on the floor and spent ages sniffing out every scrap. It kept her occupied for almost an hour - the biscuit bones don't last as long but are still quite a challenge. I'm also pleased that she enjoys playing with it even when there are no treats inside. It is slightly wobbly if you hold it at one end and she spends quite a lot of time tossing it in the air, pouncing on it and shaking it to make sure it's dead. This is a very tough bone, my pup has some fearsome jaws on her but she is not getting through this yet. I'm hopeful this will be as long lasting as her other Kong toys.

I'm sure this chew toy is great for dogs that like it - unfortunately, mine doesn't! I have put treats in it a couple of times which has kept him occupied for 30 minutes or so, but he has no interest in chewing it and quickly learnt that if he dropped it from a height onto a hard surface, the treats tended to come out. It is the usual Kong excellent quality. My dog is what I would term a small medium size (JRT-Sheltie cross) and I think perhaps the heavy rubber and dimensions of the toy may be part of the problem. A shame, as he is an inveterate chewer!

Wir haben schon die Kleine Version seit einem halben Jahr zuhause. Das Ding sieht schon recht mitgenommen aus ist aber noch bespielbar. Da der Hund aber gewachsen ist und auch sein Kiefer deutlich kräftiger geworden ist, haben wir uns entschlossen die doch deutlich teurere Größere Version zukaufen. Zu den Fakten: Das teil ist nicht wirklich viel Größer wie kleine Version. Jedoch ist die Dicke des Materials größer wodurch es schon stabiler erscheint. Ich weiß nicht was ein Rotweiler mit dem Ding anstellt, aber unsern Mischling (Labbi/ Berner Sennen) hält der Kong bisher tapfer stand. Das Ding riecht am Anfang stark nach Gummi, der Geruch lässt nach, geht aber auch nach einen halben Jahr nicht ganz weg. Da der Hersteller aber angibt das es Naturkautschuk ist, mache ich mir da kein Kopf. Kong ist jetzt ja kein China Billig Produkt. Fazit: Der Hund findet es Super, und liebt des Minuten lang auf dem Ding rum zu kauen. Der Geruch stört Ihn gar nicht von daher ist mir das auch egal. Manchmal nervt es schon wenn man auf dem Sofa liegt und neben dir einer auf son Gummi teil rum Kaut. Klingt ein wenig wie Latex .... Ich Schweife ab. Top Teil klare Empfehlung
