Apollo Rb 35 x 25 x 4 cm Endgrain Block

It is wood, but very dense so food will not adhere to it and the block can be easily washed and not deteriorate. My husband uses it to support his laptop, under-which is a laptop riser. He's so pleased with it!The dimensions of this butchers block board is perfect: not too small, not too big. Perfect for a small kitchen or to perch one's 12-inch wide laptop or iPad on and at a very reasonable price. The block is very dense and quite heavy, just under 4cm thick.It's a good all-rounder, and for someone on a budget - perfect! I bought a 2nd one for my laptop and not it's the perfect height and no neck ache. Great in one's kitchen also. What's not to dislike?

Bought this a while ago and it still is in the same condition as when I bought it. Saves the worktops and also looks good left on the surface. A great purchase!

I've waited quite a while to post this review in case defects became apparent later. But this is probably the best chopping block we have ever had. It is very heavy, so if you have weak wrists you'll struggle to hold it one-handed when you swipe crumbs etc into the bin. However, the surface is excellent. We use it for chopping bread every day and there are of course cut marks on it after several months, but they are not creating grooves which then fill with crumbs and dis-colour, like our last one did. I have checked it all over for any signs of splitting, another common problem, but this one is holding together perfectly. Personally I wouldn't use if for chopping peppers, onions, garlic or anything which leaves colour or odour, as this will definitely reduce the life of the board. As with all wood products, don't put it in the dishwasher, don't soak it in water, just wipe it over with a damp cloth, and it will last for ages. A great product!

Board was unfinished but that wasnt't the problem cos I oil my boards and wax them myself. The issue was that my board was cracked in one corner so oil and waxing it is not going to prolong its lifespan when water can widen the crack and split it from the initial crack. I asked for a refund and DIRECT RETAIL GROUP approved the return at own cost and did not even tell me that through a personal message with a message as a formality. In initial message I stated that I can submit the photos above as prove of a defective product and that it was ignored without explanation makes it seems that I was probably knowingly sent a defective product in hopes that it can be sold. Look at the packaging for the new product and you can see that the sides when the crack was should be visible even if the product was new and in transparent wrap. Since the seller is gonna get the buyer to foot the return anyway if the buyer is unwilling to go through the trouble of arranging postage for a <20 quid product and bulky item I can see why that is a sound strategy. So I will arrange the costly postage and maybe get slightly more than 10 quid back but please let it be known that this product should not be bought from such a seller who may very well be dodgy.

It is great for the purpose I bought it for. Needed something solid and stable to keep my PS5 off the carpet and this neatly does exactly what I want. Got one of my friends to purchase one too for the same reason.

Bought this chopping board as a gift. A nice sturdy thick chopping board. Arrived earlier than stated which was a plus. Disappointed with the packaging as it arrived in a plastic postage bag. It maybe a sturdy block of wood but it should have bubble wrap around it to prevent any dents during transit. The cellophane around the board was worn at the corners due to the lack of protective wrapping.

A friend of the family put our end grain chopping board in the dishwasher (which is a big no no!) and as a result it started to split open and needed to be thrown away. We have been looking for another to replace it but could not find one in the local shops. I tried Amazon and found this one and it came yesterday. It is brilliant. It is thicker than our last one and much heavier. It was very good value for money when you see how expensive End grain boards can be. We are extremely happy with the purchase and would recommend this board to anybody. Why pay more?

It's a decent chopping board for the price, very solid and substantial and looks fine - especially once oiled - if that's important?! Its 4 cm depth makes it a bit thicker than other chopping boards we've had.One con for me - the handle/groove cut into the ends of the board is rough and feels unfinished, this makes the board feel a bit cheap - otherwise it is good enough and certainly decent value. If this aspect was finished better, it'd be faultless.
