Super Convenient, great if you have 2 or 3 kids
All the buzz about air fryers got me intrigued, but I am often very sceptical and I didn't think that this would operate much differently to a small fan assisted oven.It is exactly that, a small fan assisted oven but it is so convenient, it reaches temperature so quick (no need to pre-heat!) if you have kids that love fish fingers and chips and all of those kinds of things then this is what you need. No hot baking trays, no pre-heating ovens, set the temp and timer and wait for the beeps.Don't buy in to the hype about it revolutionizing cooking or making the best chips ever. Everyone knows the best chips ever are dunked in very hot oil!So if you are looking for an air fryer that would cook fresh chips like you would get from a deep fat fryer then turn away and stick to the deep fat fryer. HOWEVER I have had great results from this with a bottle of spray oil. If you are cooking fresh chips, spray them with oil before putting them in. Then set the timer for 10 minutes at 190 degrees. Then once the time is up, pull out the basket, shake them about in there, spray again with oil, stick in for another 10 minutes.Often with the "take out and shake" method you can load the fryer quite full and get a more even cook as the ones in the middle will be soggy as the heating element is at the top, the air circulates to the bottom, so pull out and shake for better results. This unit will continue cooking without pressing a button as soon as you put the basket in which is fab.If the word FAT in deep fat fryer scares you then look no further than this air fryer! Is it healthier than a deep fat fryer? YES!Why? Well, it doesn't drown your food in oil.Does it cook frozen stuff like frozen chips (which are flash fried previously) chicken nuggets etc? YES!Does it cook burgers and sausages? YES! But they would look like they do if you cooked in an oven.Pretty much anything that is designed to cook in a deep fat fryer will cook very well in this. Remember all oven and frozen chips are usually fried previously and then frozen in the factory, so they are already unhealthy, but this will make it LESS unhealthy. It won't make frozen chips healthy lolYou are basically buying this to consume less oil.So chuck a bag of scampi in there. Perfection.Chuck chicken nuggets, anything breaded or coated, perfection. What have I found excellent about this to write a review? It will cook frozen yorkshires. It will warm coated peanuts in 2 minutes (you have to try this).Ever ordered spring rolls or chicken balls from a chinese and they have gone a bit cold? Simply put them in here, they get all warm and crispy again! As opposed to a microwave which will only make them soggy! But i do recommend giving them a quick blast in the microwave as the microwave will cook the insides first, then crisp them up in the air fryer. HEAT IT ALL THE WAY THROUGH is super important for reheating takeaway foods.Perfect Jacket potato? Microwave the jacket potato (look for google on method for this). Then, to finish, spray jacket potato with a little rapseed oil, then put it in the air fryer for 8 mins. WOW!!!You can cook sausages in this but the oil gathers a lot in the basket tray and makes the sausages look a little shrivelled, but - obviously the less fat in a sausage = healthier. You can take this to the next level and cook salmon in it by wrapping it in foil so it is sealed. You can do this with vegetables also, basically wrapping in foil, adding some water or whatever, sealing it up then placing it in the basket will cause the foil to heat and "boil" the contents inside, then open the foil, continue cooking to "crisp up" the top.Foil will however stop the air circulating up from the bottom, but, this is just a little hack to show you can cook fish in it, with foil! Just like you would in a fan assisted oven!We absolutely love the air fryer, we even take it with us in the caravan once it's hooked up to the electric point it cooks things very quietly, no steam etc like you would get from a deep fat fryer. It is really convenient.

A healthier way to eat
Was a bit dubious when I received this air fryer as it arrived in its normal retail box, instead of an Amazon branded box, and it was not sealed.Upon opening all was ok except there was no instruction manual. Phoned Morphy Richards customer service and the guy there was most helpful and sent me a replacement manual by first class post.Never having had an air fryer before I was surprised to see how large, but light, it was.Once plugged in, the colourful animated digital display looks a bit daunting but after reading the instructions it's easy to use and operate. There are numerous pre-programmed temperatures/timers but these can be altered or you can use your own. There are some recipes in the instruction book but many more can be found on the internet. You are prompted to download the "Morphy Richards cook and create" app for more recipes but I couldn't find it using Google Play Store or Googling it (page not found response). So far, I have cooked chicken breasts, roast potatoes, fresh and frozen chips, onion rings and chicken breasts in batter. All have cooked to perfection, especially the roast potatoes for which I used a recipe off the internet. The basket and drawer are non stick coated and easy to clean after use.Food tastes and looks better and is cooked in much less time than using a conventional oven/grill etc.I have only 2 minor problems with this air fryer:1. Make sure there is adequate space/ventilation around the fryer, especially at the back and above it. The air outlet at the rear expels warm/hot air and the top of the appliance gets (and stays even after switching it off) hot. So it's best not to operate the fryer directly underneath a wall mounted cupboard.2. You get a really loud "beep" every time you operate the digital display. I mean, it's really loud. Some will find this fits well with the colourful animated display but personally I think it's too loud.Nevertheless, I wish I'd invested in one of these much earlier and I can't see myself doing without it.

Decent Air Fryer at a great price
Got this on AMZ Prime day so grabbbed a good air fryer for a great price . It’s modern with a touch panel so easy to use. Have only really used it for chips so far and to be honest I don’t see what all the hype is about . Abit different and more evenly cooked for sure but not as groundbreaking as some reviews say. Make sure you shake the contents regularly to ensure even cook.Would recommend if you can pick it up at the right price

Lovely crispy chips.
I was sent this to test but this is my honest opinion. I absolutely love this health fryer! We've had a number of tefal actifrys over the years & I didn't think I'd be happy with anything else until I tried this. The main differences between the two are the ActiFry moves the food where you have to shake or turn it in this, the food done in this fryer isn't as evenly browned but is a lot crispier & resembles fried food more, this also means things don't break up the same so it cooks fish, breaded mushrooms etc to perfection. The ActiFry has one heat setting but this goes from 60 - 200 degrees. I've pretty much cooked anything I'd want to fry or bake in this if it fits & not been disappointed once. The book says to only use 400g of potatoes for chips or roasties but I doubled up for both & there was no problem at all, cooked beautifully. overall it's easy to use, easy to clean, food comes out lovely & crunchy as you'd expect, doesn't take up anymore room than a deep fat fryer & feels more robust than the ActiFry. It would be nice if it was bigger so you could get more in it or even two tiered but that's a minor niggle. I love this health fryer & use it a lot.
